Abstract
An aluminum-halogen fuel cell has a positive electrode ( 2 ), a negative electrode ( 3 ), and an electrolyte ( 4 ) containing an ionic liquid represented by formula (1) or the like. In formula (1), R 1 represents an unsubstituted or substituent-containing C1 to C20 alkyl group, R 2 represents a C1 to C4 alkyl group or the like, each of R 3 and R 4 independently represents a hydrogen atom or the like, X represents AlCl 4 or the like, and Y represents Al 2 Cl 7 or the like.

10 . An aluminum-halogen fuel cell comprising:
a positive electrode; a negative electrode; an electrolyte comprising 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrachloroaluminate or 1-n-butylpyridinium tetrachloroaluminate; and a halogen gas inlet line configured to supply a halogen gas to the positive electrode.
11 . The aluminum-halogen fuel cell according to claim 10 , wherein the negative electrode is formed from aluminum cans or waste aluminum generated during production of aluminum products.
12 . The aluminum-halogen fuel cell according to claim 10 , wherein the positive electrode has an uneven surface formed from V-shaped grooves or formed by narrowing a diameter of the positive electrode in a stepwise manner.
