Image pickup device and image pickup method

Abstract

An image pickup device includes a camera; a display capable of displaying an image captured by the camera; and a touch panel overlapping the display. The image pickup device has at least a first mode in which the display is displaying an image being captured by the camera. At least in the first mode, the touch panel has an unresponsive region having a predetermined width in a peripheral portion of the display, and an input is not received in the unresponsive region.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . An image pickup device comprising:
 a camera;   a display capable of displaying an image captured by the camera; and   a touch panel overlapping the display,   wherein the image pickup device has at least a first mode in which the display is displaying an image being captured by the camera, and   wherein at least in the first mode, the touch panel has an unresponsive region having a predetermined width in a peripheral portion of the display, and an input is not received in the unresponsive region.   
     
     
         2 . The image pickup device according to  claim 1 ,
 wherein the image pickup device further has at least a second mode in which the display displays a predetermined image,   wherein the predetermined width of the unresponsive region in the first mode is defined as a first width, and   wherein, in the second mode, the touch panel has an unresponsive region having a second width, which is smaller than the first width, in the peripheral portion of the display, and an input is not received in the unresponsive region.   
     
     
         3 . The image pickup device according to  claim 1 ,
 wherein the display has a rectangular shape, and   wherein the unresponsive region is disposed along at least one side of the rectangular shape.   
     
     
         4 . The image pickup device according to  claim 3 ,
 wherein, in the display in the first mode, an icon is displayed in a region of a predetermined distance from a first side of the rectangular shape, and   wherein the unresponsive region is disposed along the first side and does not include at least a part of the region where the icon is displayed.   
     
     
         5 . The image pickup device according to  claim 3 ,
 wherein, in the display in the first mode, an icon is displayed in a region of a predetermined distance from a first side of the rectangular shape,   wherein the unresponsive region comprises at least a first unresponsive region disposed along the first side and a second unresponsive region disposed along a second side adjacent to the first side, and   wherein a width of the first unresponsive region is larger than a width of the second unresponsive region.   
     
     
         6 . The image pickup device according to  claim 4 ,
 wherein at least a portion of a circumferential part of the icon is surrounded by the unresponsive region.   
     
     
         7 . The image pickup device according to  claim 3 ,
 wherein the unresponsive region is disposed along at least two opposing sides of the rectangular shape.   
     
     
         8 . The image pickup device according to  claim 7 ,
 wherein the unresponsive region is disposed along four sides of the rectangular shape.   
     
     
         9 . The image pickup device according to  claim 8 ,
 wherein a width of the unresponsive region on a short side of the rectangular shape is larger than a width of the unresponsive region on a long side of the rectangular shape.   
     
     
         10 . The image pickup device according to  claim 1 ,
 wherein, in the first mode, the display displays the image captured by the camera on a substantially entire surface.   
     
     
         11 . The image pickup device according to  claim 10 ,
 wherein, in the first mode, an area of the image captured by the camera and displayed on the display is equal to or greater than 80% of a total area of the display.   
     
     
         12 . The image pickup device according to  claim 1 , further comprising:
 a housing covered by at least a first surface and a second surface,   wherein the display and the touch panel are disposed on the first surface,   wherein an edge portion is provided between the display and a corner which is between the first and second surfaces.   
     
     
         13 . The image pickup device according to  claim 12 ,
 wherein a width of the edge portion is greater than 0 mm and less than 3.5 mm.   
     
     
         14 . The image pickup device according to  claim 1 ,
 wherein the touch panel overlaps a substantially entire surface of the display.   
     
     
         15 . The image pickup device according to  claim 14 ,
 wherein an area of the display overlapping the touch panel is 90% or more and 100% or less of an area of the display.   
     
     
         16 . The image pickup device according to  claim 14 ,
 wherein an area of the touch panel overlapping the display is 90% or more and 100% or less of an area of the touch panel.   
     
     
         17 . The image pickup device according to  claim 1 ,
 wherein, in a region of the touch panel other than the unresponsive region, an input of at least one of five functions (1) to (5) is received, the five functions including:   (1) selection of an object of auto focus;   (2) shutter;   (3) selection of an object of electronic zoom;   (4) selection of an object to adjust exposure; and   (5) selection of an object to adjust white balance.
