System and Method of Secure Payment Transactions
Abstract
A system and method for Enable PIN Debit Transactions at Internet Based Online Merchants by Using a Combination of IVR and Hardware Security Module is provided. The system may include an adaptive payment server including one or more processors configured to receive a first communication including first identification information from a first communication device on a first communication channel. The adaptive payment server may identify a second communication device based on the first identification information and initiate a second communication to the second communication device on a second communication channel, which may be discrete from the first communication channel. The adaptive payment server may receive second identification information from the second communication device on the second communication channel and authenticate the payment transaction using the first identification information and the second identification information.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 - 32 . (canceled)
33 . A method of authenticating a payment transaction, comprising:
receiving, by an adaptive payment server, payment information of a payor from a first communication device of the payor over a first communication channel; identifying, by the adaptive payment server, a second communication device of the payor based on the payment information; initiating, by the adaptive payment server, a second communication channel with the payor via the second communication device, wherein the first communication channel is different from the second communication channel; receiving, by the adaptive payment server, a predefined secret from the payor via the second communication device over the second communication channel; and authenticating, by the adaptive payment server, the payment transaction using the payment information and the predefined secret.
34 . The method of claim 33 , further comprising:
generating, by the adaptive payment server, a transaction identification number; communicating, by the adaptive payment server, the transaction identification number to the payor over the first communication channel via the first communication device; and communicating, by the adaptive payment server, the transaction identification number to the payor over the second communication channel via the second communication device.
35 . The method of claim 33 , wherein the payment information comprises a debit card number.
36 . The method of claim 33 , wherein the payment information comprises a credit card number.
37 . The method of claim 33 , wherein the predefined secret comprises a Personal Identification Number (PIN).
38 . The method of claim 33 , wherein the first communication channel comprises a data network.
39 . The method of claim 33 , wherein the second communication channel comprises a voice network.
40 . The method of claim 33 , wherein the second communication device is identified by a telephone number; and
wherein the initiating a second communication channel comprises calling, by the adaptive payment server, the second communication device using the telephone number.
41 . The method of claim 33 , further comprising prompting, by the adaptive payment server, input of the predefined secret by the payor through the second communication device.
42 . The method of claim 33 , wherein the first communication device and the second communication device are the same device.
43 . A system that authenticates a payment transaction, comprising:
an adaptive payment server comprising:
one or more processors, and non-transitory memory coupled to the one or more processors, the memory configured to store instructions that when executed by the one or more processors cause the one or more processors to perform:
receiving payment information from a payor over a first communication channel via a first communication device of the payor;
identifying a second communication device of the payor based on the payment information;
initiating a second communication channel with the payor via the second communication device, wherein the first communication channel is different from the second communication channel;
receiving a predefined secret from the payor over the second communication channel via the second communication device; and
authenticating the payment transaction using the payment information and the predefined secret.
44 . The system of claim 43 , wherein the instructions cause the one or more processors to further perform:
generating a transaction identification number; communicating the transaction identification number to the payor over the first communication channel via the first communication device; and communicating the transaction identification number to the payor over the second communication channel via the second communication device.
45 . The system of claim 43 , wherein the payment information comprises a debit card number.
46 . The system of claim 43 , wherein the payment information comprises a credit card number.
47 . The system of claim 43 , wherein the predefined secret comprises a Personal Identification Number (PIN).
48 . The system of claim 43 , wherein the first communication channel comprises a data network.
49 . The system of claim 43 , wherein the second communication channel comprises a voice network.
50 . The system of claim 43 , wherein the second communication device is identified by a telephone number; and
wherein the initiating the second communication channel further comprises calling the second communication device using the telephone number.
51 . The system of claim 43 , wherein the instructions cause the one or more processors to further perform:
prompting the payor to input the predefined secret through the second communication device.
52 . The system of claim 43 , wherein the first communication device and the second communication device are the same device.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
