Mounting clip for vehicle body to frame

Abstract

A mounting clip for attaching a vehicle body to a frame using a tool includes a generally J-shaped body having a frame attaching portion configured to be attached to the vehicle body, and a hook portion extending from the frame attaching portion and configured to engage the frame. At least one fastener hole is disposed on the frame attaching portion. A positioning formation is disposed on the frame attaching portion, where the positioning formation is configured to receive a tool.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 ) A mounting clip for attaching a vehicle body to a frame using a tool, the mounting clip comprising:
 a generally J-shaped body having a frame attaching portion configured to be attached to the vehicle body, and a hook portion extending from the frame attaching portion and configured to engage the frame;   at least one fastener hole disposed on the frame attaching portion; and   a positioning formation disposed on the frame attaching portion, wherein the positioning formation is configured to receive a tool.   
     
     
         2 ) The mounting clip of  claim 1  wherein the positioning formation is an opening through the frame attaching portion. 
     
     
         3 ) The mounting clip of  claim 1  further comprising a plurality of fastener holes on the frame attaching portion. 
     
     
         4 ) The mounting clip of  claim 1  wherein the hook portion includes a generally curved segment. 
     
     
         5 ) The mounting clip of  claim 1  further comprising at least one pad disposed on the frame attaching surface. 
     
     
         6 ) The mounting clip of  claim 1  further comprising at least one pad disposed on the hook portion. 
     
     
         7 ) The mounting clip of  claim 1  further comprising a plurality of pads disposed on the mounting clip, wherein at least one pad is formed of a material having a higher durometer than another pad. 
     
     
         8 ) A mounting clip for attaching a vehicle body to a frame comprising:
 a generally J-shaped body having a frame attaching portion configured to be attached to the vehicle body, a neck portion extending from the frame attaching portion, and a hook portion extending from the neck portion and configured to engage the frame, wherein the neck portion has an offset such that the frame attaching portion is non-planar with any portion of the hook portion; and   at least one fastener hole disposed on the frame attaching portion.   
     
     
         9 ) The mounting clip of  claim 8  further comprising a tail extending generally perpendicularly from the frame attaching portion and configured to be attached to the vehicle body, wherein the tail resists rotation of the mounting clip relative to the vehicle body. 
     
     
         10 ) The mounting clip of  claim 9  wherein the tail is substantially square in cross-section. 
     
     
         11 ) The mounting clip of  claim 8  further comprising a plurality of fastener holes on the frame attaching portion. 
     
     
         12 ) The mounting clip of  claim 8  wherein the hook portion includes a generally curved segment. 
     
     
         13 ) A mounting clip for attaching a vehicle body to a frame using a tool, the mounting clip comprising:
 a generally J-shaped body having a frame attaching portion configured to be attached to the vehicle body, and a hook portion extending from the frame attaching portion and configured to engage the frame; at least one fastener hole disposed on the frame attaching portion; and   a clamp block configured to be disposed between one of the frame and the frame attaching portion, and between the frame and the hook portion.   
     
     
         14 ) The mounting clip of  claim 13  further comprising a pad disposed on an upper surface of the hook portion. 
     
     
         15 ) The clip of  claim 13  further comprising a pad disposed on a lower surface of the frame attaching portion.
