Abstract
A general purpose plant growth medium incorporating shredded coastal redwood bark.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed:
1 . A container filled with plant growth medium, the plant growth medium comprising a substrate including shredded coastal redwood bark fibers, said shredded fibers having lengths of about 0.125 inches to about 14 inches and widths less than their lengths, said substrate having sufficient physiochemical properties to sustain a plant when rooted therein.
2 . The container filled with plant growth medium of claim 1 wherein the plant growth medium is substantially free of soil and said sufficient physiochemical properties of the plant growth medium include an unhydrated density in a range of about 200-400 pounds per cubic yard.
3 . The container filled with plant growth medium of claim 1 wherein said substrate comprises at least 10 percent by volume of said shredded coastal redwood bark fibers.
4 . The container filled with plant growth medium of claim 1 wherein said sufficient physiochemical properties includes an acidic pH when hydrated.
5 . The container filled with plant growth medium of claim 1 wherein said substrate comprises greater than 60 percent by volume of said shredded coastal redwood bark fibers.
6 . The container filled with plant growth medium of claim 1 wherein the substrate consists essentially of shredded coastal redwood bark fibers with lengths in a Range of about 0.125-14 inches.
7 . The container filled with plant growth medium of claim 1 wherein said container is a bag.
8 . The container filled with plant growth medium of claim 1 wherein said plant growth medium is intended for plants that are non-epiphytic and not orchidaceae family members.
9 . A non-soil plant growth medium contained in a bag, the plant growth medium comprising:
a substrate consisting essentially of shredded coastal redwood bark fibers, said shredded fibers having lengths of about 0.125 inches to about 14 inches and widths less than their lengths, said plant growth medium having sufficient physiochemical properties to sustain a plant when rooted therein; wherein said plant growth medium has an unhydrated density in a range of about 200 to about 400 pounds per cubic yard.
10 . The non-soil plant growth medium contained in a bag of claim 9 , wherein the plant growth medium comprises at least 10 percent by volume of shredded coastal redwood bark fibers having lengths of about 0.125 inches to about 14 inches.
11 . The non-soil plant growth medium contained in a bag of claim 9 , wherein the plant growth medium comprises at least 30 percent by volume of shredded coastal redwood bark fibers having lengths of about 0.125 inches to about 14 inches.
12 . The non-soil plant growth medium contained in a bag of claim 9 wherein said substrate comprises greater than 60 percent by volume of said shredded coastal redwood bark fibers.
13 . The non-soil plant growth medium contained in a bag of claim 9 wherein the plant growth medium comprises no more than 80 percent by volume shredded coastal redwood bark fibers having lengths of about 0.125 inches to about 14 inches.
14 . The non-soil plant growth medium contained in a bag of claim 10 wherein said substrate comprises greater than 60 percent by volume of said shredded coastal redwood bark fibers.
15 . The non-soil plant growth medium contained in a bag of claim 14 wherein said plant growth medium is intended for plants that are non-epiphytic and not orchidaceae family members.
16 . The non-soil plant growth medium contained in a bag of claim 9 wherein said plant growth medium is intended for plants that are non-epiphytic and not orchidaceae family members.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
