Abstract

A dietary supplement composition to treat low density lipoprotein (LDL) oxidation in humans includes a therapeutic amount of a phospholipid rich egg roe extract having at least 50 percent phospholipids and a seed oil extract in combination with astaxanthin in an oral dosage form. The astaxanthin is 0.1 to 15 percent by weight of the at least phospholipid rich egg roe extract.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
. A dietary supplement composition to treat low density lipoprotein (LDL) oxidation in humans, wherein the dietary supplement composition comprises a therapeutic amount of a phospholipid rich egg roe extract and a seed oil extract in combination with astaxanthin in an oral dosage form, wherein the astaxanthin is 0.1 to 15 percent by weight of the phospholipid rich egg roe extract.

. The composition according to claim 1 , wherein the phospholipid rich egg roe extract comprises Eiconsapentaenoic (EPA) and Docosahexaenoic (DHA) fatty acids wherein the amount of DHA is at least 50 percent greater than the amount of EPA.

. The composition according to claim 1 , comprising 150 to 500 mg of phospholipid rich egg roe extract and 0.5 to 12 mg of astaxanthin, and wherein the composition is encapsulated into a single dosage capsule.

. The composition according to claim 1 , wherein the seed oil extract comprises an extract having an alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) to linoleic acid (LA) ratio between 1:1 and 6:1.

. The composition according to claim 4 , wherein the seed oil extract comprises a perilla seed oil extract.

. The composition according to claim 5 , wherein the perilla seed oil extract comprises a supercritical CO2 fluid extracted perilla seed oil extract derived from a cracked biomass of perilla frutescens , the seed oil comprising from 60 to 95 percent w/w of PUFAs in a ratio from 4:1 to 6:1 alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) to linolenic acid (LA).

. The composition according to claim 1 , wherein the composition includes the phospholipid rich egg roe extract supplemented with 0.1-12 mg astaxanthin per daily dose.

. The composition according to claim 1 , wherein the astaxanthin is derived from Haematococcus pluvialis algae oleoresin or beadlet.

. The composition according to claim 1 , and further comprising an n-3 (omega-3) fatty acid rich oil derived from flax seed oil, perilla seed oil, or chia seed oil, wherein the n-3 fatty acid comprises alpha-linolenic acid.

. A method to treat low density lipoprotein (LDL) oxidation in humans by administering a therapeutic amount of a dietary supplement composition comprising a therapeutic amount of a phospholipid rich egg roe extract and a seed oil extract in combination with astaxanthin in an oral dosage form, wherein the astaxanthin is 0.1 to 15 percent by weight of the phospholipid rich egg roe extract.

. The method according to claim 10 , wherein the phospholipid rich egg roe extract comprises Eiconsapentaenoic (EPA) and Docosahexaenoic (DHA) fatty acids wherein the amount of DHA is at least 50 percent greater than amount of EPA.

. The method according to claim 10 , comprising delivering 150 to 500 mg of phospholipid rich egg roe extract and 0.5 to 12 mg of astaxanthin and encapsulating the composition into a single dosage capsule.

. The method according to claim 10 , wherein the seed oil extract comprises an extract having an alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) to linoleic acid (LA) ratio between 1:1 and 6:1.

. The method according to claim 13 , wherein the seed oil extract comprises a perilla seed oil extract.

. The method according to claim 14 , wherein the perilla seed oil extract comprises a supercritical CO2 fluid extracted perilla seed oil extract derived from a cracked biomass of perilla frutescens , the seed oil comprising from 60 to 95 percent w/w of PUFAs in a ratio from 4:1 to 6:1 alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) to linolenic acid (LA).

. The method according to claim 10 , comprising supplementing the phospholipid rich egg roe extract with 0.1-12 mg astaxanthin per daily dose.

. The method according to claim 10 , wherein the astaxanthin is derived from Haematococcus pluvialis algae oleoresin or beadlet.

. The method according to claim 10 , and further comprising an n-3 (omega-3) fatty acid rich oil derived from flax seed oil, perilla seed oil, or chia seed oil, wherein the n-3 fatty acid comprises alpha-linolenic acid.

. The composition according to claim 1 , wherein the phospholipid rich egg roe extract comprises at least 50 percent phospholipids.

. The composition according to claim 10 , wherein the phospholipid rich egg roe extract comprises at least 50 percent phospholipids.
