Asynchronous video interview system
Abstract
Aspects of an asynchronous video interview system and related techniques include a server that receives a plurality of pre-recorded video prompts, generates an interview script, transmits a video prompt from the interview script to be displayed at a client computing device, and receives a streamed video response from the client computing device. The server can perform algorithmic analysis on content of the video response. In another aspect, a server obtains response preference data indicating a timing parameter for a response. In another aspect, a video prompt and an information supplement (e.g., a news item) that relates to the content of the video prompt are transmitted. In another aspect, a server automatically selects a video prompt (e.g., a follow-up question) to be displayed at the client computing device (e.g., based on a response or information about an interviewee).

41 . A computer-implemented method for conducting an asynchronous video interview by one or more remote computers in communication with a client computing device, the method comprising:
receiving a plurality of pre-recorded video prompts; selecting a first pre-recorded video prompt to be displayed at the client computing device as part of the asynchronous video interview; obtaining response preference data including timing information for a video response to the first pre-recorded video prompt in the asynchronous video interview, wherein the timing information includes an indication of whether recording of the video response begins upon completion of play of the first pre-recorded video prompt at the client computing device; transmitting the first pre-recorded video prompt and the response preference data to the client computing device; receiving a streamed video response to the video prompt from the client computing device as part of the asynchronous video interview, wherein the video response is recorded in accordance with the timing information; and automatically selecting a follow-up video prompt from the plurality of pre-recorded video prompts, wherein the video response is recorded later in time than the first pre-recorded video prompt and the follow-up video prompt.
42 . The method of claim 41 , further comprising causing the video response to be displayed in a reviewer user interface.
43 . The method of claim 41 , further comprising receiving feedback from a reviewer of the video response via a reviewer user interface.
44 . The method of claim 41 , further comprising:
transmitting the follow-up video prompt to the client computing device; and receiving a follow-up response from the client computing device.
45 . The method of claim 41 , wherein the timing information further includes a time limit for the video response.
46 . The method of claim 41 , wherein the timing information specifies a predetermined time delay that precedes recording of the video response.
47 . The method of claim 41 , wherein the response preference data includes an indication of whether re-recording of the video response is permitted.
48 . A computer system in communication with a client computing device, the computer system comprising a processor and computer-readable storage media having stored thereon computer-executable instructions configured to cause the computer system to:
receive a plurality of pre-recorded video prompts; select a first pre-recorded video prompt to be displayed at the client computing device as part of the asynchronous video interview; obtain response preference data including timing information for a video response to the first pre-recorded video prompt in the asynchronous video interview, wherein the timing information includes an indication of whether recording of the video response begins upon completion of play of the first pre-recorded video prompt at the client computing device; transmit the first pre-recorded video prompt and the response preference data to the client computing device; receive a streamed video response to the video prompt from the client computing device as part of the asynchronous video interview, wherein the video response is recorded in accordance with the timing information; and, automatically select a follow-up video prompt from the plurality of pre-recorded video prompts, wherein the video response is recorded later in time than the first pre-recorded video prompt and the follow-up video prompt.
49 . The computer system of claim 48 , wherein the computer-executable instructions are further configured to cause the video response to be displayed in a reviewer user interface.
50 . The computer system of claim 48 , wherein the computer-executable instructions are further configured to cause the computer system to receive feedback from a reviewer of the video response via a reviewer user interface.
51 . The computer system of claim 48 , wherein the computer-executable instructions are further configured to cause the computer system to:
transmit the follow-up video prompt to the client computing device; and receive a follow-up response from the client computing device.
52 . The computer system of claim 48 , wherein the timing information further includes a time limit for the video response.
53 . The computer system of claim 48 , wherein the timing information specifies a predetermined time delay that precedes recording of the video response.
54 . The computer system of claim 48 , wherein the response preference data includes an indication of whether re-recording of the video response is permitted.
55 . A non-transitory computer-readable medium having computer-executable instructions stored thereon that, in response to execution by one or more processors of a client computing device, cause the client computing device to:
transmit an initiation request for an asynchronous video interview process to a remote computer system; receive a first pre-recorded video prompt and response preference data from the remote computer system, wherein the first pre-recorded video prompt is selected from a plurality of pre-recorded video prompts, wherein the response preference data includes timing information for a video response to the first pre-recorded video prompt in the asynchronous video interview, and wherein the timing information includes an indication of whether recording of the video response begins upon completion of play of the first pre-recorded video prompt at the client computing device; display the first pre-recorded video prompt; record a video response in accordance with the timing information; transmit the video response to the remote computer system; and receive a follow-up video prompt from the remote computer system, wherein the follow-up video prompt is automatically selected from the plurality of pre-recorded video prompts, and wherein the video response is recorded later in time than the first pre-recorded video prompt and the follow-up video prompt.

The computer-readable medium of claim 55 , further having computer-executable instructions stored thereon that, in response to execution by the one or more processors of the client computing device, cause the client computing device to transmit a follow-up response to the remote computer system.
57 . The computer-readable medium of claim 55 , wherein the timing information further includes a time limit for the video response.
58 . The computer-readable medium of claim 55 , wherein the timing information specifies a predetermined time delay that precedes recording of the video response.
59 . The computer-readable medium of claim 55 , wherein the response preference data includes an indication of whether re-recording of the video response is permitted.
60 .
