Abstract

One aspect of the instant invention is an improved volleyball net or hardware used in conjunction with a volleyball net to allow a game net with portions of the net at different heights. Another aspect of the invention is rules for a game with a game net of different heights. The invention can be used to have an improved net game with players of different abilities, genders or heights.

We claim: 
     
         1 . A net apparatus comprising:
 a net having a lower edge, first and second opposite side edges, and an upper edge with a first and second portion; the first side edge being shorter than the second side edge such the first portion of the upper edge is lower than the second portion of the upper edge;   an elongated member dividing the net into two sides; the member also dividing the first portion of the upper edge from the second portion of the upper edge;   means for keeping the elongate member substantially vertical; and   attachment means for securing the net to external supports.   
     
     
         2 . The net apparatus of  claim 1  wherein a portion of the elongated member extends above the first and second portions of the upper edge. 
     
     
         3 . An assembly for use with a net comprising:
 A first stiff elongated member that can be positioned between an upper and lower edge of the net; and   means for holding a first portion of an upper edge of the net at a different height than a second portion of the upper edge of the net.   
     
     
         4 . The assembly of  claim 3  wherein the means for holding a first portion of an upper edge of the net at a different height than a second portion of the upper edge of the net comprises a pulley assembly.
