Abstract
An Emergency Alert System (EAS) alert message is distributed in multiple languages. The multiple language EAS alert message can be provided via a single channel and/or multiple channels. The multiple language EAS alert message can be provided with a language vector indicating the languages provided and the location of respective language specific EAS alert messages. A mobile device receiving the multiple language EAS alert message, selects a preferred language specific EAS alert message and renders the EAS alert message in the preferred language.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed:
1 . A method comprising:
receiving, from a primary emergency alert channel, a first transmission comprising a language vector; determining, based on the language vector, a location of a preferred message of a plurality of messages, wherein the preferred message comprises an alert in a particular language that corresponds to a preferred language; and receiving the preferred message from the location.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the location is associated with a broadcast channel.
3 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the preferred message is interleaved in the broadcast channel with at least one other of the plurality of messages.
4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the language vector further comprises an indication of a message type.
5 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising rendering the preferred message.
6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the first transmission comprises an Emergency Alert System alert message.
7 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising establishing the preferred language.
8 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the preferred language comprises a first preferred language and a second preferred language and the method further comprises:
determining, based on the language vector, that none of the plurality of messages is in a first preferred language; and selecting the preferred message based on the particular language corresponding to the second preferred language.
9 . The method of claim 1 , the first transmission further comprising the alert in a default language.
10 . A method comprising:
receiving a first transmission comprising a language vector; receiving, subsequent to receipt of the first transmission, based on a preferred language, a second transmission that is separate from the first transmission, the second transmission comprising a multiple-language message, the multiple language message including a plurality of specific-language messages; determining, based on the language vector and the preferred language, a location of a preferred message of the plurality of specific-language messages, wherein the preferred message is in a particular language that corresponds to the preferred language; and retrieving the preferred message from the location.
11 . The method of claim 10 , the first transmission further comprising the alert in a default language.
12 . The method of claim 10 , wherein receiving the multiple-language message comprises receiving the multiple-language message via broadcast over a single channel, wherein the plurality of specific-language messages are interleaved in the single channel.
13 . The method of claim 10 , wherein receiving the multiple-language message comprises receiving the multiple-language message via broadcast over a plurality of channels, wherein each message of the plurality of specific-language messages is broadcast via a respective one of the plurality of channels.
14 . The method of claim 10 , wherein
the language vector comprises a plurality of language indicators and a plurality of location indicators, each language indicator of the plurality of language indicators denotes a respective particular language of a corresponding one of the specific-language messages, and each location indicator is associated with a respective one of the plurality of language indicators and denotes a location of the corresponding one of the plurality of specific-language messages.
15 . The method of claim 10 , further comprising rendering the preferred message.
16 . The method of claim 10 , wherein the first transmission comprises an Emergency Alert System alert message.
17 . A nontransitory computer-readable storage medium comprising instructions that cause a processor executing the instructions to effectuate operations, the operations comprising:
receiving, from a primary emergency alert channel, a first transmission comprising a language vector; determining, based on the language vector, a location of a preferred message of a plurality of messages, wherein the preferred message comprises an alert in a particular language that corresponds to a preferred language; and receiving the preferred message from the location.
18 . The nontransitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 17 , wherein the language vector further comprises an indication of message type.
19 . The nontransitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 17 , wherein the location is a broadcast channel and a location of the preferred message within the broadcast channel.
20 . The nontransitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 19 , wherein the preferred message is interleaved in the broadcast channel with at least one other of the plurality of messages.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
