Abstract
Non-limiting examples of the present disclosure describe adaptively scaling a user interface based on detection of a display size associated with a connected processing device. A display size associated with a connected processing device is detected. A display class is determined based on the detected display size. A user interface for an application is launched based on the determined display class. Other examples are also described.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A computer-implemented method comprising:
detecting a display size associated with a display of a first processing device; determining a display class based on the detected display size; and launching, on the first processing device, a user interface for an application based on the determined display class.
2 . The computer-implemented method according to claim 1 , wherein the display class is a range corresponding to display sizes of processing devices, and wherein the determining determines the display class from a plurality of display classes based on the display size of the first processing device being within the range.
3 . The computer-implemented method according to claim 1 , further comprising detecting a change to the display size of the first processing device or a connection of a second processing device.
4 . The computer-implemented method according to claim 3 , further comprising initiating a display class change event upon detecting the changed display size of the first processing device, determining a display class associated with the changed display size of the first processing device, and when the display class has changed, adapting the user interface to display a scaled model associated with the changed display size.
5 . The computer-implemented method according to claim 3 , further comprising initiating a display class change event upon detecting the connection of the second processing device.
6 . The computer-implemented method according to claim 5 , wherein the initiating of the display class change event further comprises determining a display class of the second processing device based on a detected display size of the second processing device.
7 . The computer-implemented method according to claim 6 , further comprising adapting the user interface to display, on the second processing device, a scaled model designed for the determined display class of the second processing device when the determined display class of the second processing device is different from the display class associated with the first processing device.
8 . The computer-implemented method according to claim 6 , further comprising displaying the user interface on the first connected processing device at first scaled model designed for the determined display class of the first processing device, and displaying the user interface on the second processing device at a second scaled model designed for the determined display class of the second processing device.
9 . A system comprising:
a memory; and at least one processor operatively connected with the memory, executing operations comprising:
detecting a display size associated with a display of a first processing device;
determining a display class based on the detected display size; and
launching, on the first processing device, a user interface for an application based on the determined display class.
10 . The system according to claim 9 , wherein the display class is a range corresponding to display sizes of processing devices, and wherein the determining determines the display class from a plurality of display classes based on the display size of the first processing device falling within the range.
11 . The system according to claim 9 , wherein the executed operations further comprising detecting a change to the display size of the first processing device or a connection of a second processing device.
12 . The computer-implemented method according to claim 11 , wherein the executed operations further comprising initiating a display class change event upon detecting the changed display size of the first processing device, determining a display class associated with the changed display size of the first processing device, and when the display class has changed, adapting the user interface to display a scaled model associated with the changed display size.
13 . The system according to claim 11 , wherein the executed operations further comprising initiating a display class change event upon detecting that the second processing device is connected.
14 . The system according to claim 13 , wherein the executed operations further comprising determining a display class of the second processing device based on a detected display size of the second processing device.
15 . The system according to claim 13 , wherein the executed operations further comprising adapting the user interface to display, on the second processing device, a scaled model designed for the determined display class of the second processing device when the determined display class of the second processing device is different from the display class associated with the first processing device.
16 . The system according to claim 14 , wherein the executed operations further comprising displaying the user interface on the first connected processing device at first scaled model designed for the determined display class of the first processing device, and displaying the user interface on the second processing device at a second scaled model designed for the determined display class of the second processing device.
17 . A computer-readable storage device including executable instructions, that when executed on at least one processor, causing the processor to perform a process comprising:
launching a user interface for an application at a first scaled model based on detecting a display class associated with a first processing device, wherein the display class of the first processing device is detected based on a determined display size of the first processing device; detecting connection of a second processing device; determining a display class associated with the second processing device, wherein the display class of the second processing device is detected based on a determined display size of the second processing device; and adapting the user interface to display, on the second processing device, a second scaled model designed for the second processing device upon determining that the display class of the second processing device is different from the display class of the first processing device.
18 . The computer-readable storage device according to claim 17 , wherein the display class of the first processing device and the display class of the second processing device are determined from a plurality of display classes based on a display size associated with a processing device falling within a range value set for display sizes of processing devices.
19 . The computer-readable storage device according to claim 17 , wherein a display size is determined by evaluating an effective resolution of a display of a processing device.
20 . The computer-readable storage device according to claim 17 , wherein a display size is determined by evaluating at least one of a screen diagonal of a display of a processing device and a display width of a display of a processing device.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
