Apparatus and method for distinguishing containers

Abstract

A system for marking a container includes a wrap comprising an adhesive backend. The wrap is configured to wrap around a container. The system also includes a tab configured to adhere to the container and protrude away from the container. The wrap and the tab comprise indicia for identifying the container or the contents of the container.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A system for marking a container, comprising:
 a wrap with a first adhesive coupled to a first side of the wrap, the wrap configured to be applied to at least a portion of an outside surface of a container; and   a tab configured to adhere to the container and protrude away from the container;   wherein the wrap or the tab comprise indicia for identifying the container or the contents of the container.   
     
     
         2 . The system of  claim 1 , wherein the indicia comprise at least one of a color, a symbol, a pattern, and text. 
     
     
         3 . The system of  claim 1 , wherein the wrap is at least one of transparent or semi-transparent. 
     
     
         4 . The system of  claim 1 , further comprising an indicia coding chart comprising at least one description bar, wherein the at least one description bar comprises an indicia corresponding to an indicia of at least one of the wrap and the tab. 
     
     
         5 . The system of  claim 1 , further comprising a peel off sheet, the peel off sheet comprising at least one sticker comprising indicia indicative of the contents of the container. 
     
     
         6 . The system of  claim 1 , wherein the tab includes a cutout indicative of the contents of the container. 
     
     
         7 . The system of  claim 1 , wherein the indicia is associated with a prescription medication. 
     
     
         8 . The system of  claim 1 , wherein the tab comprises:
 two out portions configured to fold and form a base comprising an adhesive back for adhering to the container; and   two inner portions configured to fold and form a protruding portion for extending away from the container.   
     
     
         9 . A container marking kit, including:
 a wrap configured to wrap around and secure to a container; and   a tab comprising an adhesive portion, the tab configured to adhere to the container and protrude away from the container;   wherein the wrap or the tab comprise indicia for identifying the container.   
     
     
         10 . The container marking kit of  claim 9 , wherein the wrap comprises an adhesive back. 
     
     
         11 . The container marking kit of  claim 9 , further comprising a color coding chart comprising:
 at least one color block comprising a color corresponding to a color of at least one of the wrap and the tab; and   a description bar associated with the at least one color block, the description bar configured to receive identifying information.   
     
     
         12 . The container marking kit of  claim 9 , further comprising a peel off sheet, the peel off sheet comprising at least one sticker comprising identifying indicia, the at least one sticker configured to adhere to a container and to identify the contents of the container. 
     
     
         13 . The container marking kit of  claim 9 , wherein at least one of the wrap and the tab is semi-transparent. 
     
     
         14 . The container marking kit of  claim 9 , wherein the wrap is configured to wrap around and secure to a prescription medication bottle and the indicia identifies the contents of the prescription medication bottle. 
     
     
         15 . The container marking kit of  claim 9 , further comprising a wrap and tab combination, the wrap and tab combination comprising a wrap configured to wrap around and secure to a container and a tab pre-attached to the wrap and configured to protrude away from the wrap. 
     
     
         16 . The container marking kit of  claim 9 , wherein the wrap and the tab comprise indicia for identifying a prescription medication bottle. 
     
     
         17 . A method of marking a container, the method comprising the steps of:
 securing a wrap around a container; and   securing a protruding tab to the container;   wherein the wrap and the tab comprise an indicia for identifying the container.   
     
     
         18 . The method of  claim 17 , further comprising the step of writing text on the protruding tab to identify the container. 
     
     
         19 . The method of  claim 17 , further comprising the step of adding text to a description line of a color coding chart, wherein the description line comprises a color block corresponding to a color of at least one of the wrap and the tab. 
     
     
         20 . The method of  claim 17 , further comprising the step of securing to a container a sticker comprising identifying indicia.
