Method for repairing hair extensions

Abstract

A soft material such as silk, cotton or polyester is wrapped or otherwise affixed to the weft of an existing hair extension to enhance the hair extension and to eliminate discomfiture associated with the weft, itself. The soft material is attached to the weft by machine sewing or the like, the so-enhanced extension is then attached to a user's hair or weave cap via a weave hat.

Having, thus, described the invention what is claimed is: 
     
         1 . In a method for improving the softness of an unused hair extension, the extension being of the type comprising a weft and a plurality of hair strands secured thereto, the improvement which comprises:
 wrapping a soft material about the weft of the unused extension, the soft material being a different material than that of the weft, the soft material being selected from the group consisting of cotton, polyester, and silk; and   securing the soft material to the weft.

         3 . The improvement of  claim 1  wherein the soft material is silk.

The improvement of  claim 1  wherein: the weft includes a planar base, the base having a plurality of apertures through which hair strands project, the soft material having openings therein which are in registry associated with openings in the base to permit hair strands to remain in position through respective openings in the weft. 
     
     
         5 . The improvement of  claim 1  which further comprises:
 wrapping the extension with the soft material prior to attachment to a user's head.
