Abstract

A self-contained air distribution system for an individual which can distribute air over the chest, back, head, or skin of the individual, the system including a battery operated blower fan in communication with the plenum and manifold, the manifold having primary exhaust nozzles which may be attached to secondary distribution conduits extending over the chest, back, or head of the individual, thereby allowing air to selectively escape providing a cooling and evaporate effect.

1 . An air distribution system for the purpose of reducing a persons body's heat load by controlling directly or indirectly the flow of ambient air immediately adjacent an individual's torso, body, legs, neck, or head, independently worn with or without clothing, said system comprising:
 a pressurized ambient air flow source having a power supply, in communication with an inlet, a plenum manifold having a plurality of one or more air passageway outlets for channeling exhausting air through a plurality of one or more waist mounted primary exhaust nozzles that disburses air directly or indirectly towards the lower or upper body or by attaching said plurality of one or more waist mounted primary exhaust nozzles to a plurality of one or more secondary flexible discharge open air passageways or channels facing the torso, body, legs, neck or head, said plurality of one or more flexible discharge open air passageways or channels, exhausting air directly or indirectly towards the torso, body, legs, neck, or head, thereby cooling a person by evaporating body moisture or drying the clothing of an individual.   
     
     
         2 . The air distribution system for controlling the ambient air immediately adjacent an individual's torso in accordance with  claim 1  wherein said system is a waist mounted assembly having an air transfer distributing system that disburses air directly or indirectly against said torso of said individual through a plurality of one or more exhaust nozzles that are waist mounted, or by connecting said plurality of one or more waist nozzles to a plurality of one or more secondary open air conduit passageways or channels placed about said torso, body, legs, neck, or head. 
     
     
         3 . An air distribution system for controlling the ambient air immediately adjacent to an individual in accordance with  claim 2  is a waist mounted assembly having the plurality of one or more plenum manifold outlets connected to a plurality of one or more secondary open air passageways or channels placed about said torso, body, legs, neck, or head. 
     
     
         4 . An air distribution system for controlling the ambient air immediately adjacent to an individual's torso in accordance with  claim 1  wherein the air distribution system comprises:
 said ambient air flow source having said power supply is a battery operated blower fan having an inlet and outlet, said blower fan outlet in communication with said plenum manifold, said plenum manifold having a plurality of one or more directional conduits opposingly secured thereto and extending outwardly in a substantial horizontal orientation, each conduit having directional extended ends, directing air flow from said blower fan to the torso or legs of an individual. 
 
     
     
         5 . The air distribution system for controlling the ambient air immediately adjacent an individual's torso in accordance with  claim 1  wherein said open air passageways and channels are longitudinally flexible, and circumferentially semi-rigid responding to the movement and motion of said torso or legs of said individual, and allow expulsion of air over the skin or clothing of the user. 
     
     
         6 . The air distribution system in accordance with  claim 4  wherein said blower fan, said plenum chamber is secured to a waist belt member, said plurality of one or more directional conduits being flexible and secured to said waist belt delivering an air flow of at least 15 CFM. 
     
     
         7 . The air distribution system in accordance with  claim 4  wherein said air distribution system may be worn beneath or over the clothing of the individual promoting the evaporation of perspiration from said skin or clothing, and cooling of said individual.

         11 . An air distribution system having one or more open air passageways or conduits in accordance with  claim 5  for controlling the ambient air immediately adjacent to an individual comprising:
 a power supply for the operation of a blower fan, said blower fan in communication with a plenum chamber manifold, said blower fan, said plenum manifold secured to a belt member worn by an individual; 
 a plurality of one or more flexible directional conduits or plenum manifold outlets connected to a secondary flexible open air passageways or channels having a longitudinal opening along the length thereby distributing air towards the torso, body, legs, neck, or head through said flexible directional conduits longitudinally flexible and circumferentially semi-rigid; 
 a first and second harness member, said first harness member and said second harness member secured to said flexible secondary open air conduit proximate a capped end, said first harness member worn across the chest of said individual, said second harness member worn across the back of said individual, said first and second harness members secured by a flexible securing means, securing said second conduit in substantially vertical orientation. 
 
     
     
         12 . The air distribution system in accordance with  claim 11  wherein said system distributes air about the body of the individual either directly to the skin or to clothing promoting evaporation of perspiration and the cooling of said individual.

         14 . The air distribution system in accordance with  claim 11  wherein the open air passageways or channels extend downwardly along the legs of said individual. 
     
     
         15 . The air distribution system in accordance with  claim 11  wherein said power source is a rechargeable portable battery pack.

         17 . The air distribution system in accordance with  claim 11  wherein the system is self-contained, and worn adjacent the body of the user or over the clothing of the user requiring no outside external connections.
