Abstract

A guiding apparatus for sharpening woodworking cutters contains: a holder and an accommodation assembly. The holder clamps a cutter and tilts relative to a grinding plane to form a grinding angle between the holder and the grinding plane. The holder includes a rolling sleeve and an outlet defined between two front ends of two sides thereof to extend a cutting tip of the cutter out of the outlet at an extending distance. The accommodation assembly is joined with the holder and includes a positioning plate. The positioning plate has a stopping extension formed on a rear end thereof to stop the cutting tip of the cutter and has a distance indicator arranged on a top surface thereof adjacent to the stopping extension and with respect to the grinding angle, such that the distance indicator indicates the extending distance at which the cutting tip extends out of the outlet.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

1 . A guiding apparatus for sharpening woodworking cutters comprising:
a holder clamping a cutter and tilting relative to a grinding plane to form a grinding angle between the holder and the grinding plane, and the holder including a rolling sleeve and an outlet defined between two front ends of two sides thereof to extend a cutting tip of the cutter out of the outlet at an extending distance; an accommodation assembly joined with the holder and including a positioning plate, and the positioning plate having a stopping extension formed on a rear end thereof to stop the cutting tip of the cutter, a distance indicator arranged on a top surface thereof adjacent to the stopping extension and with respect to the grinding angle, such that the distance indicator indicates the extending distance at which the cutting tip of the cutter extends out of the outlet.

2 . The guiding apparatus for sharpening woodworking cutters as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the positioning plate has a peripheral side for slidably retaining with an affixing mount, and the affixing mount moves along the peripheral side of the positioning plate to adjust the extending distance.

3 . The guiding apparatus for sharpening woodworking cutters as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the positioning plate also has a retaining portion extending upwardly from one side thereof adjacent to the stopping extension to stop the holder.

4 . The guiding apparatus for sharpening woodworking cutters as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the positioning plate further has a hanging aperture formed on a front end thereof.

5 . The guiding apparatus for sharpening woodworking cutters as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the positioning plate further has plural locating holes arranged on the peripheral side thereof, and the affixing mount has a groove defined therein to slidably retain with the peripheral side of the positioning plate and has a coupling bolt fitted in a connecting aperture and pushed by a resilient element.

6 . The guiding apparatus for sharpening woodworking cutters as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the positioning plate further has a slot defined on a bottom surface thereof adjacent to the peripheral side, and the affixing mount further has a L-shaped rib extending upwardly from a bottom end thereof to retain with the slot.

7 . The guiding apparatus for sharpening woodworking cutters as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the holder further includes a first clamper, a second clamper with respect to the first clamper, and a threaded guide rod rotatably connected with and between the first clamper and the threaded guide rod, such that the first clamper and the second clamper move close to each other or move away from each other; and the first clamper has a first clamping portion and a second clamping portion which are arranged on two side surfaces of the first clamper, the second clamper has a third clamping portion and a fourth clamping portion which are arranged on two side surfaces of the second clamper, such that the cutter is clamped by the first clamping portion, the second clamping portion, the third clamping portion, and the fourth clamping portion.
