Abstract
Embodiments of user equipment (UE) and method for discontinuous reception (DRX) mode in wireless communication are generally described herein. In some of these embodiments, the UE may operate to determine a value for a DRX parameter based at least in part on information associated with an application running on the UE. The UE may send a message to an enhanced node-B (eNB). The message may include at least one of the value for the DRX parameter and the information associated with the application. The eNB may determine values for DRX parameters that the UE may use in DRX mode.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . (canceled)
2 . User equipment (UE) comprising:
one or more processors arranged to determine a value for a discontinuous reception (DRX) parameter based on operating conditions of the UE; and transmitter circuitry arranged to send a message to an evolved node-B (eNB), the message including at least the value for the DRX parameter.
3 . The UE of claim 2 , wherein the DRX parameter includes:
an on-duration of a DRX cycle, a DRX cycle length, a DRX offset, or an inactivity DRX timer.
4 . The UE of claim 2 , wherein the one or more processors are arranged to determine the value for the DRX parameter responsive to detecting an interference condition.
5 . The UE of claim 4 , wherein
the interference condition is interference from a wireless communication, the wireless communication not being in accordance with a standard of the Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) family of standards.
6 . The UE of claim 5 , wherein the wireless communication is a communication in accordance with a standard of the Wi-Fi family of standards.
7 . The UE of claim 6 , wherein the one or more processors are arranged to determine the value for the DRX parameter based on information in the communication.
8 . The UE of claim 5 , wherein the wireless communication is a Bluetooth communication.
9 . The UE of claim 2 , wherein
the one or more processors are arranged to cause the UE to enter a DRX mode using DRX parameters having values determined by the eNB, and at least one of the values is based on the value for the DRX parameter transmitted by the transmitter circuitry.
10 . The UE of claim 9 , wherein
the DRX mode includes a DRX cycle, the DRX cycle has a first duration and a second duration, and the one or more processors are arranged to monitor frames of a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) during the first duration and to refrain from monitoring frames of the PDCCH during the second duration.
11 . A computer-readable medium including instructions that, when executed on a user equipment (UE), cause the UE to:
determine a value for a discontinuous reception (DRX) parameter based on operating conditions of the UE; and send a message to an evolved node-B (eNB), the message including at least the value for the DRX parameter, wherein the DRX parameter includes: an on-duration of a DRX cycle, a DRX cycle length, a DRX offset, or an inactivity DRX timer.
12 . The computer-readable medium of claim 11 , wherein the instructions cause the UE to determine the value for the DRX parameter responsive to detecting an interference condition.
13 . The computer-readable medium of claim 12 , wherein
the interference condition is interference from a wireless communication, the wireless communication not being in accordance with a standard of the Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) family of standards.
14 . The computer-readable medium of claim 11 , wherein
the instructions cause the UE to enter a DRX mode using DRX parameters having values determined by the eNB, and at least one of the values is based on the value for the DRX parameter transmitted by the transmitter circuitry.
15 . The computer-readable medium of claim 14 , wherein
the DRX mode includes a DRX cycle, the DRX cycle has a first duration and a second duration, and the one or more processors are arranged to monitor frames of a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) during the first duration and to refrain from monitoring frames of the PDCCH during the second duration.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
