Abstract

The present technology relates to an information processing device, an information processing method, and a program that can ensure content-related application programs can be reliably utilized. A client 11 reproduces content distributed from a content server 12 via a network 21 , and if the content being reproduced is identified by an ACR server 13 , a T/SS for managing an application relating to the identified content is acquired from a T/SS server 14 , a predetermined application distributed from an application server 15 is acquired on the basis of the T/SS acquired, and the activation and so on of that application is managed, and the application can therefore be reliably utilized. The present technology can, for example, be applied to a content distribution system that distributes content and content-linked applications.

         2 . An information processing device, comprising:
 circuitry configured to:
 receive content from a content distribution device; 
 output the received content for display to a user; 
 acquire sample data from video data or audio data of the received content; 
 provide the acquired sample data to a content identification device; 
 based on a content identification result received from the content identification device when the content is identified, acquire management information from a management information distribution device that distributes the management information for an application relating to the identified content; 
 execute processing related to the application based on the acquired management information; 
 acquire the application from an application distribution device that distributes the application. 
   
     
     
         3 . The information processing device according to  claim 2 , wherein
 the management information includes a trigger.   
     
     
         4 . The information processing device according to  claim 2 , wherein the circuitry is further configured to:
 acquire the application from the application distribution device that distributes the application based on the management information.   
     
     
         5 . The information processing device according to  claim 2 , wherein the circuitry is further configured to:
 acquire the application from the application distribution device from a predetermined URL based on the management information.   
     
     
         6 . The information processing device according to  claim 2 , wherein the circuitry is further configured to:
 acquire, activate, execute, or stop the application based on the management information.   
     
     
         7 . The information processing device according to  claim 2 , wherein
 the management information defines when the application is to be acquired, activated, executed, or stopped.   
     
     
         8 . The information processing device according to  claim 2 , wherein the circuitry is further configured to:
 provide the sample data acquired from the video data or the audio data of the content to the content identification device via a network.   
     
     
         9 . The information processing device according to  claim 2 , wherein the circuitry is further configured to:
 acquire the management information from the management information distribution device via a network based on the content identification result received from the content identification device, and   acquire the application from the application distribution device via the network based on the acquired management information.   
     
     
         10 . The information processing device according to  claim 2 , wherein
 the acquired sample data is provided to the content identification device to determine whether related information is available, and   the circuitry is further configured to receive the content identification result from the content identification device when the content is identified by the content identification device based on the sample data.   
     
     
         11 . A method of an information processing device for executing an application, the method comprising:
 receiving content from a content distribution device;   outputting the received content for display to a user;   acquiring, by circuitry of the information processing device, sample data from video data or audio data of the received content;   providing, by the circuitry, the acquired sample data to a content identification device;   based on a content identification result received from the content identification device when the content is identified, acquiring by the circuitry management information from a management information distribution device that distributes the management information for the application relating to the identified content;   executing, by the circuitry, processing related to the application based on the acquired management information; and   acquiring the application from an application distribution device that distributes the application.   
     
     
         12 . The method according to  claim 11 , wherein
 the management information includes a trigger.   
     
     
         13 . The method according to  claim 11 , wherein the step of acquiring the application comprises:
 acquiring the application from the application distribution device that distributes the application based on the management information.   
     
     
         14 . The method according to  claim 11 , wherein the step of acquiring the application comprises:
 acquiring the application from the application distribution device from a predetermined URL based on the management information.   
     
     
         15 . The method according to  claim 11 , wherein the step of executing processing comprises:
 acquiring, activating, executing, or stopping the application based on the management information.   
     
     
         16 . The method according to  claim 11 , wherein
 the management information defines when the application is to be acquired, activated, executed, or stopped.   
     
     
         17 . The method according to  claim 11 , wherein the step of providing comprises:
 providing the sample data acquired from the video data or the audio data of the content to the content identification device via a network.   
     
     
         18 . The method according to  claim 11 , wherein
 the step of acquiring the management information includes acquiring the management information from the management information distribution device via a network based on the content identification result received from the content identification device, and   the step of acquiring the application includes acquiring the application from the application distribution device via the network based on the acquired management information.   
     
     
         19 . The method according to  claim 11 , further comprising:
 receiving the content identification result from the content identification device when the content is identified by the content identification device based on the sample data, wherein   the acquired sample data is provided to the content identification device to determine whether related information is available.   
     
     
         20 . A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing instructions, which when executed by a computer, cause the computer to perform a method of an information processing device for executing an application, the method comprising:
 receiving content from a content distribution device;   outputting the received content for display to a user;   acquiring sample data from video data or audio data of the received content;   providing the acquired sample data to a content identification device;   based on a content identification result received from the content identification device when the content is identified, acquiring management information from a management information distribution device that distributes the management information for the application relating to the identified content;   executing processing related to the application based on the acquired management information; and   acquiring the application from an application distribution device that distributes the application.
