Abstract

A request to process a payment is received from a point of sale (POS) device. The request includes identify information corresponding to a device of a user that is used to pay for a purchase at the POS device. An authorization to process the request is received via the POS device. The request to process the payment is processed based on the receiving of the authorization.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

         1 . A method comprising:
receiving, at a mobile device, a funding request; generating, using a hardware processor of the mobile device, a scannable pattern using an authentication code generated in response to the funding request; and providing the scannable pattern to a point-of-sale (POS) device, the POS device to transmit the authentication code represented by the scannable pattern to an authentication provider with a funds adjustment request to process a payment.

2 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising generating the authentication code.

3 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising accessing an identifier of the mobile device, the authentication code generated based on the identifier of the mobile device.

4 . The method of claim 3 , wherein the identifier is associated with a payment account that is linked to the mobile device.

5 . The method of claim 4 , wherein the authentication code is used to dynamically authenticate the mobile device at the POS device and enable a funds adjustment to the payment account.

6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the scannable pattern comprises a barcode.

7 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising transmitting a funding authorization request to the authentication provider in response to receiving the funding request.

8 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the authentication code comprises a universal product code (UPC), a debit card number, a credit card number, or an account reference number.

9 . A machine-readable storage medium having no transitory signals and storing instructions that when executed by one or more processors of a machine, cause the machine to perform operations comprising:
receiving, at a mobile device, a funding request; generating, using a hardware processor of the mobile device, a scannable pattern using an authentication code generated in response to the funding request; and providing the scannable pattern to a point-of-sale (POS) device, the POS device to transmit the authentication code represented by the scannable pattern to an authentication provider with a funds adjustment request to process a payment.

10 . The machine-readable storage medium of claim 9 , wherein the operations further comprise generating the authentication code.

11 . The machine-readable storage medium of claim 9 , wherein the operations further comprise accessing an identifier of the mobile device, the authentication code generated based on the identifier of the mobile device.

12 . The machine-readable storage medium of claim 11 , wherein the identifier is associated with a payment account that is linked to the mobile device.

13 . The machine-readable storage medium of claim 12 , wherein the authentication code is used to dynamically authenticate the mobile device at the POS device and enable a funds adjustment to the payment account.

14 . The machine-readable storage medium of claim 9 , wherein the scannable pattern comprises a barcode.

15 . The machine-readable storage medium of claim 9 , wherein the authentication code comprises a universal product code (UPC), a debit card number, a credit card number, or an account reference number.

         16 . A system comprising:
one or more processors configured to at least:
 receive, at a mobile device, a funding request;
generate a scannable pattern using an authentication code generated in response to the funding request; and
provide the scannable pattern to a point-of-sale (POS) device, the POS device to transmit the authentication code represented by the scannable pattern to an authentication provider with a funds adjustment request to process a payment.

         17 . The system of claim 16 , wherein:
the mobile device comprises an identifier; and the authentication code is generated based on the identifier.

18 . The system of claim 17 , wherein the identifier is associated with a payment account that is linked to the mobile device.

19 . The system of claim 18 , wherein the authentication code is used to dynamically authenticate the mobile device at the POS device and enable a funds adjustment to the payment account.

20 . The system of claim 16 , wherein the scannable pattern comprises a barcode.
