Abstract

A mold for forming a tire for a non-pneumatic or hybrid tire. The mold possesses a telescoping mold core having an angled shut off surface that extends past the cavities and into a mold half and contacts or nearly contacts the mold half on the angled shut off surface which changes the placement and orientation of potential flash.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

1 . A mold for forming a spoke for a tire said mold comprising a first mold half, a second mold half, cavities and telescoping cores having an angled shut off surface that extend past the cavities and into a mold half and contact or nearly contact said mold half on said angled shut off surface.

2 . The mold according to claim 1 wherein the cavities have a radius at their end portion opposite the side of the cavity that is proximate to an angled shut off surface.

3 . The mold according to claim 1 wherein the cavities have a draft angle and the shut off surface has the same angle.

4 . The mold according to claim 3 wherein the draft angle is 0.25 degrees.

5 . The mold according to claim 2 wherein the cavities have a draft angle and the shut off surface has the same angle.

6 . The mold according to claim 5 wherein the draft angle is 0.25 degrees.

7 . A mold for forming a spoke for a tire said mold comprising a first mold half, a second mold half, cavities and telescoping cores having an angled shut off surface that extend past the cavities and into a mold half and contact or nearly contact said mold half on said angled shut off surface, wherein the cavities have a radius at their end portion opposite the side of the cavity that is proximate to an angled shut off surface and said cavities have a draft angle and the shut off surface has the same angle.

8 . A tire formed by the mold according to claim 1 .
