Abstract

Disclosed are isolated human bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells having high telomerase activity (tBMMSCs). Also disclosed are isolated human CD34 + bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells. Also disclosed are bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells treated with a telomerase induction agent.

We claim: 
     
         1 . A method of modulating immune system of a human patient comprising administering to the patient a therapeutically effective amount of isolated high telomerase human bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells. 
     
     
         2 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the isolated high telomerase human bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells are prepared by treating human bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells with an effective amount of telomerase inducing agent. 
     
     
         3 . The method of  claim 2 , wherein the telomerase inducing agent comprises aspirin or a compound with similar chemical structure. 
     
     
         4 . The method of  claim 2 , wherein the telomerase inducing agent comprises aspirin. 
     
     
         5 . The method of  claim 4 , wherein amount of aspirin used in the treatment of human bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells is in the range of 2 micrograms/milliliter to 50 micrograms/milliliter. 
     
     
         6 . The method of  claim 5 , wherein the human bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells are treated with aspirin for about one week. 
     
     
         7 . The method of  claim 2 , wherein the human bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells are treated with an effective amount of telomerase inducing agent ex-vivo. 
     
     
         8 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the patient has an immune disorder. 
     
     
         9 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the patient has systemic lupus erythematosus.
