Abstract
Systems and methods of using collected data to provide business intelligence functionality and/or information are disclosed. In an example, healthcare information system data (such as billing system data) may be extracted or accessed, and transaction data from multiple information systems may be aggregated. In an example, electronic operations for transformation and processing of healthcare transaction data may include receiving healthcare transaction data, creating an aggregate set of healthcare transaction data, evaluating conditions associated with the aggregate set of healthcare transaction data, generating aggregated healthcare transaction information for display, receiving a user-selected indication in response to the display, and transmitting electronic transaction requests to effect transactions resulting from the user-selected indication.

1 . A method for healthcare transaction processing, comprising electronic operations implemented with processor circuitry of a computing system, and the electronic operations comprising:
receiving a first set of healthcare transaction data records that represent a first healthcare transaction and a second set of healthcare transaction data records that represent a second healthcare transaction, the first set of healthcare transaction data records and the second set of healthcare transaction data records originating from an information system, wherein the first set of health transaction data records are associated with a first encounter and the second set of health transaction data records are associated with a second encounter; creating an aggregate set of healthcare transaction data records from the first set of healthcare transaction data records and the second set of healthcare transaction data records, wherein the aggregate set of healthcare transaction data records is associated with a user; creating a payment due data record from the aggregate set of healthcare transaction data records, wherein the payment due data record indicates an aggregated payment amount due for open charges of the first healthcare transaction and the second healthcare transaction that are tracked by the information system and held by an asset holder; evaluating a set of asset holder requirement data records to determine repayment requirements of the asset holder, the repayment requirements evaluated for the open charges that are held by the asset holder at a time of generation for a graphical user interface; evaluating a set of user characteristic data records to determine repayment characteristics of the user, the repayment characteristics uniquely evaluated for the user for repayment of the aggregated payment amount due at the time of generation for the graphical user interface; and generating aggregated healthcare transaction information to display to the user in the graphical user interface, the aggregated healthcare transaction information including data from the aggregate set of healthcare transaction data records, wherein the graphical user interface displays multiple available payment options that are uniquely generated to the user, the multiple available payment options being customized to the repayment characteristics of the user and the repayment requirements of the asset holder that are determined at the time of generation for the graphical user interface, and wherein the graphical user interface includes constraints to receive selection of a payment option from among the multiple available payment options that complies with the repayment requirements of the asset holder.
2 . The method of claim 1 , the electronic operations further comprising:
receiving an indication of the selection of the payment option by the user from among the multiple available payment options, the payment option being input and customized by the user in the graphical user interface, wherein the payment option complies with the repayment requirements of the asset holder for repayment of at least a portion of the aggregated payment amount due at the time of generation for the graphical user interface.
3 . The method of claim 1 ,
wherein the information system is an electronic billing system specific to healthcare transaction billing, wherein the first set of healthcare transaction data records indicates multiple charges for the first healthcare transaction and wherein the second set of healthcare transaction data records indicates multiple charges for the second healthcare transaction, wherein the first healthcare transaction and the second healthcare transaction occur within a defined time period, wherein the first healthcare transaction occurs during the first encounter and the second healthcare transaction occurs during the second encounter, and wherein the user is a guarantor for payment obligations associated with the first encounter and the second encounter.
4 . The method of claim 3 ,
wherein the first encounter occurs with a first healthcare provider and wherein the second encounter occurs with a second healthcare provider.
5 . The method of claim 1 ,
wherein the first set of healthcare transaction data records relates to the first encounter for a first person and wherein the second set of healthcare transaction data records relates to the second encounter for a second person, and wherein the user is a guarantor for payment obligations associated with the first encounter and the second encounter.
6 . The method of claim 1 ,
wherein the first set of healthcare transaction data records is in a first data format and the second set of healthcare transaction data records is in a second data format, and wherein creating the aggregate set of healthcare transaction data records is performed by transforming the first set of healthcare transaction data records and the second set of healthcare transaction data records into a normalized data format.
7 . The method of claim 1 ,
wherein the first healthcare transaction is associated with professional healthcare charges stored in a first billing record of the information system and wherein the second healthcare transaction is associated with facility healthcare charges stored in a second billing record of the information system.
8 . The method of claim 1 ,
wherein the first healthcare transaction and the second healthcare transaction are representations of a common healthcare encounter with a patient wherein the first set of healthcare transaction data records and the second set of healthcare transaction data records are provided by different billing systems.
9 . The method of claim 1 , the electronic operations further comprising:
receiving an indication of payment information for the selection of the payment option, the payment information being input by the user in the graphical user interface; determining a payment amount and payment date that corresponds to the selection of the payment option; and transmitting an electronic payment transaction request to effectuate multiple electronic transactions that perform repayment of at least a portion of the aggregated payment amount due for the first healthcare transaction and for the second healthcare transaction, the multiple electronic transactions performed according to specifications of the payment amount, the payment date, and the payment information.
10 . The method of claim 9 ,
wherein the multiple electronic transactions include a first electronic transaction and a second electronic transaction, the electronic operations of the method further comprising: effecting the first electronic transaction that performs a first repayment of at least a portion of the aggregated payment amount due for the first healthcare transaction to a first financial institution associated with a first billing system of the information system; and effecting the second electronic transaction that performs a second repayment of at least a portion of the aggregated payment amount due for the second healthcare transaction to a second financial institution associated with a second billing system of the information system.
11 . The method of claim 9 ,
wherein the multiple electronic transactions include a first electronic transaction and a second electronic transaction, the electronic operations of the method further comprising: effecting the first electronic transaction that performs a first repayment of at least a portion of the aggregated payment amount due for the first healthcare transaction, the first electronic transaction being associated with a first set of charges previously configured for payment with a first repayment plan; and effecting the second electronic transaction that performs a second repayment of at least a portion of the aggregated payment amount due for the second healthcare transaction, the second electronic transaction being associated with a second set of charges newly configured for payment with a second repayment plan; wherein a single payment is retrieved from a financial account corresponding to the payment information being input by the user, the single payment used to obtain funds used for repayment in the first electronic transaction and the second electronic transaction.
12 . The method of claim 1 , the electronic operations further comprising:
generating the multiple available payment options that are uniquely generated to the user, wherein the multiple available payment options that are uniquely generated to the user include options for a one-time payment, recurring payment, or payment-in-full, wherein repayment terms for the multiple available payment options are customized to dynamic elements for the user indicated by the repayment characteristics of the user, the dynamic elements including one or more of: an propensity to pay score, an ability to pay score, an insurance coverage, an insurance provider, historical payment behavior, a balance due on new charges, an aggregate monthly payment amount of existing finance plans, or a total outstanding balance, and wherein the repayment terms for the multiple available payment options are compliant with the repayment requirements of the asset holder.
13 . The method of claim 1 ,
wherein the multiple available payment options that are uniquely generated to the user are determined based on decisioning rules configured by the asset holder and an eventual asset holder of the open charges, each decisioning rule specifying authorized financing terms for a group of users that satisfy criteria of the decisioning rule.
14 . The method of claim 1 ,
wherein the multiple available payment options that are uniquely generated to the user include a user-configurable payment option determined at the time of generation for the graphical user interface that provides an authorized offer of financing, the authorized offer of financing including open-ended credit financing terms for repayment of the aggregated payment amount due, and wherein the user-configurable payment option is generated from a dynamic calculation of the authorized offer of financing that uses a payment amount specified by the user, the user-configurable payment option being compliant with repayment requirements of the asset holder and defined by the repayment characteristics of the user for one or more of: a minimum payment amount due, a maximum duration, a maximum credit limit, an interest-free period, an amount of interest to collect, or an interest rate for a given duration.
15 . A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium having stored thereon instructions that, when executed by a computing system, cause the computing system to perform operations that:
obtain a first set of healthcare transaction data records that represent a first healthcare transaction, wherein the first set of health transaction data records is associated with a first encounter; obtain a second set of healthcare transaction data records that represent a second healthcare transaction, wherein the second set of health transaction data records is associated with a second encounter; create an aggregate set of healthcare transaction data records from a combination of the first set of healthcare transaction data records and the second set of healthcare transaction data records, wherein the aggregate set of healthcare transaction data records are associated with a user; create a payment due data record from the aggregate set of healthcare transaction data records, wherein the payment due data record indicates an aggregated payment amount due for open charges of the first healthcare transaction and the second healthcare transaction that are held by an asset holder; evaluate a set of asset holder requirement data records to determine repayment requirements of the asset holder, the repayment requirements evaluated for the open charges that are held by the asset holder at a time of generation for a graphical user interface; evaluate a set of user characteristic data records to determine repayment characteristics of the user, the repayment characteristics uniquely evaluated for the user for repayment of the aggregated payment amount due at the time of generation for the graphical user interface; generate aggregated healthcare transaction information to display to the user in the graphical user interface, the aggregated healthcare transaction information including data from the aggregate set of healthcare transaction data records, wherein the graphical user interface displays multiple available payment options that are uniquely generated to the user, the multiple available payment options being customized to the repayment characteristics of the user and the repayment requirements of the asset holder that are determined at the time of generation for the graphical user interface; and receive an indication of a selection of a payment option by the user from among the multiple available payment options, the payment option being input and customized by the user in the graphical user interface, wherein the payment option complies with the repayment requirements of the asset holder for repayment of at least a portion of the aggregated payment amount due at the time of generation for the graphical user interface.
16 . The computer-readable storage medium of claim 15 ,
wherein the first set of healthcare transaction data records indicates multiple charges for the first healthcare transaction and wherein the second set of healthcare transaction data records indicates multiple charges for the second healthcare transaction that originate from an electronic billing system, wherein the first healthcare transaction and the second healthcare transaction occur within a defined time period, and wherein the user is a guarantor for payment obligations associated with the first encounter and the second encounter.
17 . The computer-readable storage medium of claim 15 , wherein the first encounter occurs with a first healthcare provider and wherein the second encounter occurs with a second healthcare provider.

The computer-readable storage medium of claim 15 , wherein the first healthcare transaction is associated with professional healthcare charges stored in a first billing record of an information system and wherein the second healthcare transaction is associated with facility healthcare charges stored in a second billing record of the information system.
19 . The computer-readable storage medium of claim 15 ,
wherein the first set of healthcare transaction data records is in a first data format and the second set of healthcare transaction data records is in a second data format, and wherein operations that create the aggregate set of healthcare transaction data records are performed by transformation of the first set of healthcare transaction data records and the second set of healthcare transaction data records into a normalized data format.
20 . The computer-readable storage medium of claim 15 , the instructions further causing the computing system to perform operations that:
receive an indication of payment information for the selection of the payment option, the payment information being input by the user in the graphical user interface; determine a payment amount and payment date that corresponds to the selection of the payment option; and transmit an electronic payment transaction request to effectuate multiple electronic transactions that perform repayment of at least a portion of the aggregated payment amount due for the first healthcare transaction and for the second healthcare transaction, the multiple electronic transactions performed according to specifications of the payment amount, the payment date, and the payment information.
21 . The computer-readable storage medium of claim 15 , the instructions further causing the computing system to perform operations that:
generate the multiple available payment options that are uniquely generated to the user, wherein the multiple available payment options that are uniquely generated to the user include options for a one-time payment, recurring payment, or payment-in-full, wherein repayment terms for the multiple available payment options are customized to dynamic elements for the user indicated by the repayment characteristics of the user, the dynamic elements including one or more of: an propensity to pay score, an ability to pay score, or insurance coverage, and wherein the repayment terms for the multiple available payment options are compliant with the repayment requirements of the asset holder.

memory circuitry; processor circuitry; and a storage medium including instructions that, when executed by the processor circuitry and memory circuitry of the computer system, implement a plurality of engines in the computer system, the plurality of engines comprising: a data extraction engine, adapted to:
extract a first set of healthcare transaction data for a first healthcare transaction, the first set of healthcare transaction data extracted from a first information system; a
extract a second set of healthcare transaction data for a second healthcare transaction, the second set of healthcare transaction data extracted from a second information system, wherein the second information system maintains data for a different set of healthcare transactions than the first information system;
create an aggregate set of healthcare transaction data in a data store, the aggregate set of healthcare transaction data created from a combination of the first set of healthcare transaction data and the second set of healthcare transaction data, wherein the aggregate set of healthcare transaction data is associated with a user;
creating a payment due data record from the aggregate set of healthcare transaction data, wherein the payment due data record indicates an aggregated payment amount due for open charges of the first healthcare transaction and the second healthcare transaction that are tracked by the first information system and the second information system and held by at least one asset holder;
an application engine, adapted to, at a time of generation for a graphical user interface:
evaluate a set of asset holder requirement data records to determine repayment requirements of the asset holder, the repayment requirements evaluated for the open charges that are held by the asset holder;
evaluate a set of user characteristic data records to determine repayment characteristics of the user, the repayment characteristics uniquely evaluated for the user for repayment of the aggregated payment amount due; and
generate aggregated healthcare transaction information to display to the user in the graphical user interface, the aggregated healthcare transaction information including data from the aggregate set of healthcare transaction data, wherein the graphical user interface displays multiple available payment options that are uniquely generated to the user, the multiple available payment options being customized to the repayment characteristics of the user and the repayment requirements of the asset holder;
wherein the application engine is further adapted to receive an indication of a selection of a payment option by the user from among the multiple available payment options, the payment option being input and customized by the user in the graphical user interface, wherein the payment option complies with the repayment requirements of the asset holder for repayment of at least a portion of the aggregated payment amount due at the time of generation for the graphical user interface.
25 . The computer system of claim 24 ,
wherein the first information system is a first electronic billing system specific to healthcare transaction billing and the second information system is a second electronic billing system specific to healthcare transaction billing, wherein the first set of healthcare transaction data indicates multiple charges for the first healthcare transaction and wherein the second set of healthcare transaction data indicates multiple charges for the second healthcare transaction, the first healthcare transaction and the second healthcare transaction occurring within a defined time period, wherein the first healthcare transaction occurs during a first encounter and the second healthcare transaction occurs during a second encounter, and wherein the user is a guarantor for payment obligations associated with the first encounter and the second encounter.
26 . The computer system of claim 24 ,
wherein the first information system tracks one of professional healthcare charges or facility healthcare charges and wherein the second information system tracks the other of professional healthcare charges or facility healthcare charges, and wherein the first information system and the second information system are included in a common billing data source.
27 . The computer system of claim 24 , the plurality of engines further comprising:
a transaction engine, adapted to:
determine a payment amount and payment date that corresponds to the selection of the payment option, wherein the selection of the payment option includes payment information being input by the user in the graphical user interface; and
transmit an electronic payment transaction request to effectuate multiple electronic transactions that perform repayment of at least a portion of the aggregated payment amount due for the first healthcare transaction and for the second healthcare transaction, the multiple electronic transactions performed according to specifications of the payment amount, the payment date, and the payment information.

wherein the multiple available payment options that are uniquely generated to the user are determined based on decisioning rules configured by the asset holder and an eventual asset holder of the open charges, each decisioning rule specifying authorized financing terms for a group of users that satisfy criteria of the decisioning rule.
