Abstract

A liquid crystal display (LCD) panel includes a first substrate, a second substrate, and a liquid crystal layer disposed between the first substrate and the second substrate. The liquid crystal layer includes liquid crystals with negative dielectric anisotropy and a hindered amine light stabilizer (HALS).

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A liquid crystal display (LCD) panel, comprising:
 a first substrate;   a second substrate facing the first substrate; and   a liquid crystal layer between the first substrate and the second substrate, wherein the liquid crystal layer comprises: liquid crystals with negative dielectric anisotropy, and a hindered amine light stabilizer (HALS).   
     
     
         2 . The LCD panel of  claim 1 , wherein the HALS includes at least one unit compound of Formula (1): 
       
         
           
           
               
               
           
         
       
       where R 1  hydrogen (H), C 1 -C 18  all cyclohexyl acrylate, methacrylate, or C 7 -C 18  alkyl aryl, R 2  is H, C 1 -C 18  alkyl, cyclohexyl acrylate, methacrylate, or a C 4 -C 8  cycloalkyl residue by two R 2 s bonded to the same carbon atom, and R 3  is a hydroxyl group (—OH), a C 1 -C 18  alkoxy group, a C 4 -C 8  cycloalkoxy group, an alkoxy group of an aromatic cyclic compound, or an alkoxy group of a heteroaromatic compound. 
     
     
         3 . The LCD panel of  claim 1 , wherein the HALS ranges from 50 ppm to 1000 ppm of the total weight of the liquid crystal layer. 
     
     
         4 . The LCD panel of  claim 1 , wherein the HALS ranges from 100 ppm to 1000 ppm of the total weight of the liquid crystal layer. 
     
     
         5 . The LCD panel of  claim 1 , further comprising:
 a first alignment layer disposed between the liquid crystal layer and the first substrate; and   a second alignment layer disposed between the liquid crystal layer and the second substrate   wherein at least one of the first alignment layer and the second alignment layer includes a photo-polymerization-type polymer, a photo-isomerization-type polymer, or a photo-decomposition-type polymer.   
     
     
         6 . The LCD panel of  claim 5 , wherein the photo-polymerization-type polymer is a cinnamate based polymer that aligns liquid crystals through a photo-polymerization reaction, the photo-isomerization-type polymer is a polymer with an azobenzene group that aligns liquid crystals through a photo-isomerization reaction, and the photo-decomposition-type polymer is a cyclobutane-based polyimide polymer that aligns liquid crystals through a photo-decomposition reaction. 
     
     
         7 . The LCD panel of  claim 6 , wherein the cyclobutane-based polyimide polymer includes a monomer of Formula (2): 
       
         
           
           
               
               
           
         
       
       where each of R′ 1  to R′ 4  is independently H or a linear or branched, saturated or unsaturated alkyl group containing 1 to 20 carbon atoms, R′ is at least one diether compound selected from the group consisting of dimethoxyethane, ethoxy-methoxy ethane, diethoxymethane, and diethoxyethane, at least one aromatic compound selected from the group consisting of benzene, benzyl ether, phenylbenzene and diphenylbenzene, or a combination thereof, and m is a natural number ranging from 1 to 300. 
     
     
         8 . The LCD panel of  claim 1 , further comprising:
 a thin-film transistor (TFT), a common electrode and a pixel electrode disposed on the first substrate,   wherein an insulating layer is disposed between the common electrode and the pixel electrode.   
     
     
         9 . The LCD panel of  claim 1 , further comprising:
 At least one color filter disposed on the second substrate,   wherein the at least one color filter is disposed between the first substrate and the second substrate.   
     
     
         10 . The LCD panel of  claim 1 , wherein the liquid crystal layer further includes neutral liquid crystals, wherein the liquid crystals with negative dielectric anisotropy include polarized liquid crystals containing an alkoxy group, and wherein the content of the alkoxy group ranges from 50% to 60% of the total weight of the neutral liquid crystals and the liquid crystals with negative dielectric anisotropy. 
     
     
         11 . The LCD panel of  claim 10 , wherein the polarized liquid crystals include at least one compound staining Formulas (3), (4), or (5): 
       
         
           
           
               
               
           
         
       
       where X is an alkyl group with two to five carbon atoms and Y is an alkyl, alkenyl or alkoxy group with two to five carbon atoms. 
     
     
         12 . The LCD panel of  claim 11 , wherein the polarized liquid crystals include a mixture of the compounds of Formulas (4) and (5). 
     
     
         13 . The LCD panel of  claim 10  wherein the polarized liquid crystals do not include dialkoxy benzene compounds of Formulas (6) and (7): 
       
         
           
           
               
               
           
         
       
       where R″ is an alkyl, alkenyl, or alkoxy group with two to five carbon atoms. 
     
     
         14 . An LCD panel, comprising:
 a first substrate;   a second substrate; and   a liquid crystal layer disposed between the first substrate and the second substrate, wherein the liquid crystal layer includes neutral liquid crystals and polarized liquid crystals containing an alkoxy group, and wherein the alkoxy group ranges from 50% to 60°, of the total weight of the neutral liquid crystals and the polarized liquid crystals.   
     
     
         15 . The LCD panel of  claim 14 , wherein the polarized liquid crystals include at least one compound satisfying Formulas (3), (4), or (5): 
       
         
           
           
               
               
           
         
       
       where X is an alkyl group with two to five carbon atoms and Y is an alkyl, alkenyl or alkoxy group with two to five carbon atoms. 
     
     
         16 . The LCD panel of  claim 15 , wherein the polarized liquid crystals include a mixture of the compounds of Formulas (4) and (5). 
     
     
         17 . The LCD panel of  claim 14 , wherein the polarized liquid crystals do not include dialkoxy benzene compounds of Formulas (6) and (7): 
       
         
           
           
               
               
           
         
       
       where R″ is an alkyl, alkenyl or alkoxy group with two to five carbon atoms. 
     
     
         18 . The LCD panel of  claim 9 , further comprising a column spacer disposed between the first and second alignment layers. 
     
     
         19 . The LCD panel of  claim 18 , wherein the column spacer is disposed on one or more of the color filters. 
     
     
         20 . The LCD panel of  claim 9  further comprising a black matrix disposed on one or more of the color filters.
