System and method of revealing the outcomes of real world wagers through escalating reveals
Abstract
The invention relates to systems and methods of selecting and placing real-world wagers responsive to one or more wager triggers, obtaining outcomes of the real-world wagers, facilitating user interactions with various interactive media, and revealing the outcomes of the real-world wagers through the interactive media to give an appearance that the outcomes of the real-world wagers resulted from the user interactions even though the outcomes resulted from the real-world wagers and were determined before the user interactions. The system may reveal a single outcome (or other value) using a reveal staircase, in which the outcome is split into different increments each having a different value. In an implementation, the different increments may be revealed randomly or in order of their value. For example, a ten dollar payout may be revealed using four fifty cent reveals, three one dollar reveals, one two dollar reveal, and one three dollar reveal.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A computer implemented method of revealing escalating portions of outcomes of real-world wagers through an interactive media application executing at a user device, the method being implemented on the user device having one or more physical processors programmed with computer program instructions that, when executed by the one or more physical processors, cause the user device to perform the method, the method comprising:
receiving, by the user device, a reveal specification comprising information that specifies an amount of a user account balance, associated with a user, to be potentially revealed to the user, the user account balance reflecting unrevealed outcomes of wagers placed on behalf of the user; receiving, by the user device, a first user interaction with the interactive media application; revealing, by the user device, a first portion of the amount to the user based on the first user interaction to give the appearance that the user won the revealed first portion based on the first user interaction; receiving, by the user device, a second user interaction with the interactive media application; revealing, by the user device, a second portion of the amount to the user based on the second user interaction to give the appearance that the user won the revealed second portion based on the second user interaction, wherein the second portion is greater than the revealed first portion.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the second portion is revealed to the user after the first portion is revealed to the user.
3 . The method of claim 1 , the method further comprising:
providing, by the user device through the interactive media application, an objective to be performed by the user; identifying, by the user device, a first level of completion of the objective based on the first user interaction; identifying, by the user device, a second level of completion of the objective based on the second user interaction; and comparing, by the user device, the first level of completion and the second level of completion with one another, wherein the first portion and/or the second portion are revealed to the user based on the comparison.
4 . The method of claim 3 , the method further comprising:
determining, by the user device, whether the second level of completion is greater than or equal to the first level of completion, wherein the second portion is revealed to the user responsive to a determination that the second level of completion is greater than or equal to the first level of completion.
5 . The method of claim 3 , wherein the first level of completion comprises a first amount of winnings achieved in association with the interactive media application, and the second level of completion comprises a second amount of winnings achieved in association with the interactive media application.
6 . The method of claim 3 , wherein the first level of completion comprises a first game score achieved in association with the interactive media application, and the second level of completion comprises a second game score achieved in association with the interactive media application.
7 . The method of claim 3 , wherein the first level of completion comprises a first number of levels completed in association with the interactive media application, and the second level of completion comprises a second number of levels completed in association with the interactive media application.
8 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the second user interaction is received from a second user that interacts with the user through the interactive media application.
9 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the indication of the payout is received prior to a particular media session in which the first user interaction is received, and wherein the first portion is revealed to the user during the particular media session.
10 . The method of claim 1 , the method further comprising:
responsive to the first portion being revealed to the user, causing, by the user device, an indication that the first portion was revealed to the user to be transmitted to a remote computer system; and responsive to the second portion being revealed to the user, causing, by the user device, an indication that the second portion was revealed to the user to be transmitted to the remote computer system.
11 . The method of claim 1 , the method further comprising:
causing, by the user device, a request to a remote computer system to be transmitted via a network, wherein the reveal specification is received from the remote computer system via the network based on the request.
12 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the request comprises identifying information configured to identify the user account balance.
13 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the reveal specification specifies the first portion and the second portion, the method further comprising:
parsing, by the user device, the reveal specification to obtain the first portion; and parsing, by the user device, the reveal specification to obtain the second portion.
14 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the reveal specification specifies a number of portions of the amount to be revealed.
15 . A system of revealing escalating portions of outcomes of real-world wagers through an interactive media application executing at a user device, the system comprising:
a user device having one or more physical processors programmed with computer program instructions that, when executed by the one or more physical processors, cause the user device to:
receive a reveal specification comprising information that specifies an amount of a user account balance, associated with a user, to be potentially revealed to the user, the user account balance reflecting unrevealed outcomes of wagers placed on behalf of the user;
receive a first user interaction with the interactive media application;
reveal a first portion of the amount to the user based on the first user interaction to give the appearance that the user won the revealed first portion based on the first user interaction;
receive a second user interaction with the interactive media application;
reveal a second portion of the amount to the user based on the second user interaction to give the appearance that the user won the revealed second portion based on the second user interaction, wherein the second portion is greater than the revealed first portion.
16 . The system of claim 15 , wherein the second portion is revealed to the user after the first portion is revealed to the user.
17 . The system of claim 15 , wherein the one or more physical processors are further programmed to:
provide through the interactive media application an objective to be performed by the user; identify a first level of completion of the objective based on the first user interaction; identify a second level of completion of the objective based on the second user interaction; and compare the first level of completion and the second level of completion with one another, wherein the first portion and/or the second portion are revealed to the user based on the comparison.
18 . The system of claim 17 , wherein the user device is further programmed to:
determine whether the second level of completion is greater than or equal to the first level of completion, wherein the second portion is revealed to the user responsive to a determination that the second level of completion is greater than or equal to the first level of completion.
