Abstract

A seat includes a seat bottom and a seat back. The seat bottom is arranged to lie on and be supported by ground underlying the seat bottom. The seat back is coupled to the seat bottom in a fixed position and arranged to extend upwardly away from the seat bottom.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A seat, comprising
a seat bottom supported by ground underlying the seat bottom, the seat bottom including a seat-bottom frame and a seat-bottom platform coupled to the seat-bottom frame, a seat back arranged to extend upwardly away from the seat bottom and ground, and a seat-back mount configured to provide means for coupling the seat back to the frame foundation in a fixed position relative to the seat-bottom platform such that a user can couple the seat back with the frame foundation without the use of tools by the user.

2 . The seat of claim 1 , wherein the seat-bottom frame includes a frame foundation and a support beam coupled to the frame foundation.

3 . The seat of claim 2 , wherein the frame foundation includes a first upright base and a second upright base spaced-apart laterally from first upright base, and wherein the support beam is coupled between the first upright base and the second upright base by a beam retainer.

4 . The seat of claim 3 , wherein the beam retainer includes a first slide rail coupled to an end of the support beam, a second slide rail coupled to an opposing end of the support beam, a first beam-rail receiver coupled to the first upright base and configured to receive at least a portion of the first slide rail, and a second beam-rail receiver coupled to the second upright base and configured to receive at least a portion of the second slide rail.

5 . The seat of claim 2 , wherein the seat-bottom platform is coupled to the seat-bottom frame by a platform coupler, and wherein the platform coupler includes a first platform mount coupled between an end of the seat-bottom platform and frame foundation and spaced apart from the support beam, a second platform mount coupled between an opposing end of the seat-bottom platform and frame foundation and spaced apart from the support beam, and a platform support coupled to the support beam and configured to engage an under surface of the seat-bottom platform.

6 . The seat of claim 5 , wherein each of the first and second platform mounts includes a platform retainer coupled to the seat-bottom platform and a platform-retainer receiver coupled to the frame foundation and configured to receive at least a portion of the platform retainer.

7 . The seat of claim 2 , wherein the seat-bottom platform includes a platform deck positioned to engage the support beam and a platform-support leg coupled to the platform deck and spaced apart from the support beam.

8 . The seat of claim 1 , wherein the seat-back mount includes a seat-back slide rail coupled to the seat back in a fixed position relative to the seat back and a seat-back rail receiver coupled to the seat bottom in a fixed position relative to the seat bottom and configured to receive at least a portion of the seat-back slide rail.

9 . The seat of claim 8 , wherein the seat-back rail receiver is angled relative to the ground underlying the seat bottom so that the seat back is angled relative to the ground when the seat back is coupled to the seat bottom.

         10 . A method of assembling a seat, comprising
positioning a first upright base in a spaced apart relation to a second upright base to define a frame foundation, coupling a support beam with the frame foundation between the first and second upright bases without the use of tools to form a seat-bottom frame, coupling a seat-bottom platform with the seat-bottom frame without the use of tools to define a seat bottom, and coupling a seat back with the seat bottom between the first and second upright bases without the use of tools.

11 . The method of claim 10 , wherein coupling the support beam with the frame foundation includes engaging a first slide rail coupled to the support beam with a first beam-rail receiver coupled to the first upright base and engaging a second slide rail coupled to the support beam with a second beam-rail receiver coupled to the second upright base.

12 . The method of claim 10 , wherein coupling the seat-bottom platform with the seat-bottom frame includes engaging a first platform retainer coupled to the seat-bottom platform with a first platform-retainer receiver coupled to the first upright base, engaging a second platform retainer coupled to the seat-bottom platform with a second platform-retainer receiver coupled to the second upright base, and engaging the seat-bottom platform with the support beam.

13 . The method of claim 12 , further comprising coupling a platform-support leg to a platform deck without the use of tools to form the seat-bottom platform.

14 . The method of claim 10 , wherein coupling the seat back with the seat bottom includes engaging a first seat-back slide rail coupled to the seat back with a first seat-back rail receiver coupled to the first upright base and engaging a second seat-back slide rail coupled to the seat back with a second seat-back rail receiver coupled to the second upright base.

15 . The method of claim 10 , further comprising positioning at least one seat-bottom cushion along the seat bottom.

16 . The method of claim 15 , further comprising positioning at least one seat-back cushion along the seat back.
