Activewear with waistband pocket

Abstract

Provided is activewear with hidden pockets. More particularly, athletic garments such as pants comprising one or more waistband pocket, preferably concealable, are included. In embodiments, athletic garments with an interior concealed pocket in the fold-over portion of a fold down waistband are provided. The waistband pocket enables the wearer to store items such as car keys, hotel room keys and/or smart phones relatively inconspicuously and securely in the waistband of the garment. A purpose of the concealment includes minimizing attention from the items stored within the pocket and allowing the wearer to participate in a variety of athletic sports or events while carrying personal items in a secure manner.

1 . A garment comprising:
 a body portion;   a waistband constructed with an exterior fabric and an interior fabric, wherein the exterior fabric comprises a first interior surface, the interior fabric comprises a second interior surface, and the first interior surface is disposed facing the second interior surface;   at least one pocket, which is a space outlined by the first and second interior surfaces, and which is enclosed by a seam where the waistband is attached to the body portion;   wherein the waistband comprises at least one pocket opening and the pocket and the pocket opening are configured to accommodate a mobile phone;   wherein the pocket comprises an interior pocket surface provided by the first interior surface of the exterior fabric and the second interior surface of the interior fabric;   wherein the waistband is attached to the body portion along a first seam with the pocket on one side of the first seam and the body portion on an opposing side of the first seam.   
     
     
         2 . A garment comprising:
 a body portion of fabric configured to provide a 360° circumferential opening;   a waistband comprising:
 one or more pocket and pocket opening configured to hold a mobile phone; 
 a first layer of fabric disposed to contact a wearer during use, the first layer of fabric comprising a 360° circumferential edge; 
 a second layer of fabric attached to the first layer of fabric in a manner to provide the first and second layers of fabric as interior walls of the pocket; 
 wherein a cross section of the waistband reveals only four fabric surfaces, with the first and second layers of fabric each contributing two of the four surfaces; 
 wherein the pocket is formed by joining the first and second layers of fabric and by joining the 360° circumferential opening of the body portion with the 360° circumferential edge of the first layer of fabric at a 360° seam such that the first and second layers of fabric are disposed on one side of the seam opposite the body portion. 
   
     
     
         3 . A garment comprising:
 a waistband comprising a first layer of material and a second layer of material;   a pocket with interior walls provided by the first and second layers of material;   wherein the first layer of material comprises a 360° circumferential edge;   wherein the first layer of material is oriented for contacting a user's body and the second layer of material is an exterior facing surface of the waistband when worn;   a body portion comprising a torso aperture edge disposed in a plane;   wherein the body portion is attached to the waistband such that the pocket is disposed on one side of the plane and the body portion is disposed on an opposing side of the plane;   an opening for the pocket, which opening is provided in a relaxed state and is shaped and sized for receiving a mobile phone.   
     
     
         4 . The garment of  claim 1 , wherein the pocket opening is accessible from an exterior of the waistband when worn. 
     
     
         5 . The garment of  claim 1 , wherein the pocket opening is accessible from an interior of the waistband when worn. 
     
     
         6 . The garment of  claim 1 , which is a shirt, skirt, short, skort, pant, leggings, yoga pant, athletic pant, running pant, caprin pant, tight short, or loose short. 
     
     
         7 . The garment of  claim 1 , which is hosiery. 
     
     
         8 . The garment of  claim 1 , wherein the waistband further comprises an elastic element. 
     
     
         9 . The garment of  claim 1 , wherein the waistband is a fold-over type waistband. 
     
     
         10 . The garment of  claim 1 , wherein the waistband comprises a torso aperture and a second seam disposed parallel to and between the first seam and the torso aperture. 
     
     
         11 . The garment of  claim 1 , wherein the waistband comprises a torso aperture and a second seam disposed parallel and between the first seam and the torso aperture in a manner to provide for multiple pockets. 
     
     
         12 . The garment of  claim 1 , wherein the waistband comprises a torso aperture and no second seam between the first seam and the torso aperture. 
     
     
         13 . The garment of  claim 1 , wherein the body portion comprises a material with elasticity. 
     
     
         14 . The garment of  claim 1 , wherein the waistband is water resistant. 
     
     
         15 . The garment of  claim 1 , wherein the waistband comprises an edge and the opening is perpendicular to the edge of the waistband. 
     
     
         16 . The garment of  claim 1 , wherein the waistband and the body portion comprise different materials. 
     
     
         17 . The garment of  claim 1 , wherein the waistband and the body portion comprise the same material. 
     
     
         18 . The garment of  claim 1 , wherein the waistband comprises an opening for wires. 
     
     
         19 . The garment of  claim 1 , wherein the pocket opening and the waistband each have a height and the height of the pocket opening is 100% of the height of the waistband. 
     
     
         20 . The garment of  claim 1 , wherein the pocket opening and the waistband each have a height and the height of the pocket opening ranges from above 0% to just below 100% of the height of the waistband. 
     
     
         21 . The garment of  claim 1 , wherein the pocket opening and the waistband each have a height and the height of the pocket opening is between 5-95% of the height of the waistband. 
     
     
         22 . The garment of  claim 1 , wherein the pocket opening and the waistband each have a height and the height of the pocket opening is between 10-90% of the height of the waistband. 
     
     
         23 . The garment of  claim 1 , wherein the pocket opening and the waistband each have a height and the height of the pocket opening is between 15-85% of the height of the waistband.
