Abstract

The present invention relates to a cushion to assist pregnant women with sleeping in a prone position.

1 . A pillow comprising:
 a first opening;   a larger second opening; and,   a linear support column connecting the two openings.   
     
     
         2 . A pillow according to  claim 1  wherein the top half of the pillow and the bottom half of the pillow are constructed from two different materials. 
     
     
         3 . A pillow according to  claim 2  wherein the bottom half of the pillow is constructed from a rigid material and the top half of the pillow is constructed from a softer material. 
     
     
         4 . A pillow according to  claim 3  wherein the top half of the pillow is constructed from high density visco-elastic foam. 
     
     
         5 . A pillow according to  claim 4  wherein the bottom half of the pillow is constructed from a foam. 
     
     
         6 . A pillow according to  claim 3  further comprising air flow holes in the rigid material that makes up the bottom half of the pillow wherein the air flow holes are located under smaller of the two round openings. 
     
     
         7 . A pillow according to  claim 1  further comprising a support strap that lays across the larger round opening. 
     
     
         8 . A pillow according to  claim 7  wherein the position of the support strap is adjustable. 
     
     
         9 . A pillow according to  claim 7  wherein the support strap is constructed from a durable light weight fabric. 
     
     
         10 . A pillow according to  claim 8  wherein the support strap can be adjusted using hook and loop fasteners. 
     
     
         11 . A method of lying in a prone position comprising:
 obtaining a pillow with two openings connected by a linear support column wherein one of the openings is larger than the other and wherein two open areas are provided to a left side and a right side of the linear support columns for accommodating sensitive breasts;   positioning the pillow on a flat surface; and,   lying on top of the pillow so that the face aligns with the smaller opening, a first breast is positioned in the open area on the left side of the linear support column, a second breast is positioned in the open area on the right side of the linear support column, and the abdomen aligns with the larger opening.   
     
     
         12 . A method of lying in a prone position according to  claim 11  wherein the top half and the bottom half of the pillow are constructed from two different materials. 
     
     
         13 . A method of lying in a prone position according to  claim 12  wherein the top half is constructed from a soft, cushioning material, and the bottom half is constructed from a rigid material. 
     
     
         14 . A method of lying in a prone position according to  claim 13  wherein the top half is constructed from high density visco-elastic foam. 
     
     
         15 . A method of lying in a prone position according to  claim 13  wherein the bottom half of the pillow features air flow holes underneath the smaller round opening. 
     
     
         16 . A method of lying in a prone position according to  claim 11  further comprising placing a support strap across the larger opening. 
     
     
         17 . A method of lying in a prone position according to  claim 16  wherein further comprising adjusting the position of the support strap. 
     
     
         18 . A method of lying in a prone position according to  claim 17  wherein the support strap is adjusted using hook and loop fasteners. 
     
     
         19 . A method of lying in prone position according to  claim 18  wherein the support strap is constructed from durable light weight fabric.
