Abstract

Processing a browser request that specifies a destination network resource generally includes intercepting a browser request that specifies a selected destination network resource and redirecting the browser request to a network server that differs from the destination resource specified by the browser request. Processing a browser request also may include intercepting a browser request received from a client computer at a proxy server when the browser request specifies a selected destination network resource and performing instructions associated with and in addition to instructions performed to download the selected destination network resource.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A method comprising:
receiving a request specifying a destination network resource residing on a destination server; retrieving content associated with the destination network resource specified by the request; determining, using at least one processor, that the request necessitates additional processing; retrieving additional content from a second server other than the destination server based on the request necessitating additional processing; and presenting the additional content from the second server concurrently with the content from the destination network resource.

2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein presenting the additional content from the second server concurrently with the content from the destination network resource comprising adding the additional content from the second server without refreshing a presentation of the content from the destination network resource.

3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein determining whether the request necessitates additional processing comprises:
analyzing the request; and referring to a list to determine if a domain associated with the request is included in the list.

4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein retrieving the additional content from the second server based on the request necessitating additional processing comprises:
determining that additional content is to be requested from the second server based on the associated domain being included in the list; sending a request for the additional content to the second server; and receiving the additional content from the second server.

5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein presenting the additional content from the second server concurrently with the content from the destination network resource comprises presenting the additional content from the second server concurrently with the content from the destination network resource after the additional content is retrieved from the second server.

6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein presenting the additional content from the second server concurrently with the content from the destination network resource comprises:
determining that the additional content from the second server is not retrieved when the content associated with the destination network resource is retrieved; receiving the additional content from the second server; and adding the additional content from the second server to a presentation of the content from the destination network resource upon retrieving the additional content.

7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein presenting the additional content from the second server comprises presenting one portion of the additional content in a site segment of a user interface.

8 . The method of claim 7 , wherein presenting the additional content from the second server further comprises presenting another portion of the additional content in a universal segment of the user interface.

9 . The method claim 1 , further comprising retrieving further content from a third server other than the destination server and the second server.

10 . The method of claim 9 , further comprising presenting the further content from the third server concurrently with the content from the destination network resource and the additional content from the second server.

         11 . A system comprising:
at least one processor; and at least one non-transitory computer readable storage medium storing instructions thereon that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the system to: receive a request specifying a destination network resource residing on a destination server; retrieve content associated with the destination network resource specified by the request; determine that the request necessitates additional processing; retrieve additional content from a second server other than the destination server based on the request necessitating additional processing; and present the additional content from the second server concurrently with the content from the destination network resource.

12 . The system of claim 11 , further comprising instructions thereon that, when executed by at least one processor, cause the system to determine whether the destination network resource specified by the request matches at least one selected destination network resource.

13 . The system of claim 12 , wherein retrieving additional content from a second server other than the destination server based on the request necessitating additional processing comprises retrieving additional content from the second server other than the destination server based on the destination network resource specified by the request matching the at least one selected destination network resource.

14 . The system of claim 11 , further comprising instructions thereon that, when executed by at least one processor, cause the system to provide a split display including at least two portions.

15 . The system of claim 25 , wherein presenting the additional content from the second server concurrently with the content from the destination network resource comprises concurrently presenting the content from the destination network resource in a first portion of the at least two portions and the additional content from the second server in a second portion of the at least two portions.

16 . The system of claim 14 , wherein presenting the additional content from the second server concurrently with the content from the destination network resource comprises:
determining that the additional content from the second server is not retrieved when the content associated with the destination network resource is retrieved; presenting the content from the destination network resource in the first portion of the at least two portions when the content is retrieved; and presenting the additional content from the second server in the second portion of the at least two portions upon receiving the additional content from the second server.

17 . The system of claim 14 , wherein presenting the content associated with the destination network resource and the additional content from the second server within the split display including at least two portions comprises presenting the content and the additional content within a split display of a user interface.

18 . The system of claim 14 , wherein presenting the content associated with the destination network resource and the additional content from the second server within the split display including at least two portions comprises presenting one portion of the additional content in a site segment within a second portion of the at least two portions.

19 . The system of claim 18 , wherein presenting the content associated with the destination network resource and the additional content from the second server within the split display including at least two portions further comprises presenting another portion of the additional content in a universal segment within the second portion of the at least two portions.

20 . A non-transitory computer readable medium storing instructions thereon that, when executed by at least one processor, cause a computer system to:
receive a request specifying a destination network resource residing on a destination server; retrieve content associated with the destination network resource specified by the request; determine that the request necessitates additional processing; retrieve additional content from a second server other than the destination server based on the request necessitating additional processing; and present the additional content from the second server concurrently with the content from the destination network resource.
