Abstract

A method for towing a heavy vehicle, the method including steps of providing a link having longitudinal and oppositely longitudinal ends, the provided link having a plurality of pleated straps, each pleated strap among the plurality of pleated straps forming a pair of “C” bend series, each “C” bend among the pairs of “C” bend series having a pair of arms, a stem spanning between the pair of arms, and a capture space bounded by the pair of arms and the stem, each of the “C” bend series having an adjacent arm pair series each of whose adjacent arm pairs is received within one of the capture spaces; providing a tractor capable of towing the heavy vehicle; further providing fasteners connected operatively to the link's longitudinal and oppositely longitudinal ends; operating the fasteners to respectively connect the link's longitudinal and oppositely longitudinal ends to the tractor and to the heavy vehicle; and operating the tractor to apply a tensioning force to the link and to tow the heavy vehicle.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A method for towing a heavy vehicle, said method comprising steps of:
 (a) providing a link having longitudinal and oppositely longitudinal ends, the provided link comprising a plurality of pleated straps, each pleated strap among the plurality of pleated straps forming a pair of “C” bend series, each “C” bend among the pairs of “C” bend series comprising a pair of arms, a stem spanning between the pair of arms, and a capture space bounded by the pair of arms and the stem, each of the “C” bend series comprising an adjacent arm pair series each of whose adjacent arm pairs is received within one of the capture spaces; (b) providing a tractor capable of towing the heavy vehicle; (c) further providing fastening means connected operatively to the link's longitudinal and oppositely longitudinal ends; (d) operating the fastening means to respectively connect the link's longitudinal and oppositely longitudinal ends to the tractor and to the heavy vehicle; and (e) operating the tractor to apply a tensioning force to the link and to tow the heavy vehicle.

2 . The method for towing a heavy vehicle of claim 1 wherein in the link providing step, the plurality of pleated straps comprise a first, a second, a third, and a fourth strap.

3 . The method for towing a heavy vehicle of claim 2 wherein in the link providing step, each adjacent arm pair among the adjacent arm pair series has a distal extension, wherein each “C” bend's capture space receives one of the adjacent arm pairs, and wherein said each “C” bend's capture space opens substantially perpendicularly with respect to said one adjacent arm pair's distal extension.

4 . The method for towing a heavy vehicle of claim 3 wherein in the link providing step, each strap among the first, second, third, and fourth pleated straps comprises woven nylon fiber.

5 . The method for towing a heavy vehicle of claim 4 wherein in the fastening means providing step, the fastening means comprises a tow hitch capable of interconnecting the link and the heavy vehicle.

6 . The method for towing a heavy vehicle of claim 5 wherein in the fastening means providing step, the fastening means comprises a tow chain.
