Product Demonstration Fixture for a Portable Electronic Device

Abstract

A retail electronic product demonstration fixture for demonstrating portable electronic devices. The product demonstration fixture may include an exhibition portion and a base portion. A portable electronic device offered for sale may be affixed to the exhibition portion. The base portion may include an electronic display, an auxiliary battery, and an auxiliary controller. The auxiliary controller may direct power from the auxiliary battery to the electronic display upon determining that a battery within the electronic display has fallen below a particular selected level. Similarly the auxiliary controller may direct power from the auxiliary battery to the portable electronic device offered for sale upon determining that a battery within the portable electronic device has fallen below a selected level.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A product demonstration fixture for a portable electronic device, the product demonstration fixture comprising:
 a base comprising an upper layer and a bottom layer, the upper layer comprising a display window;   an electronic display disposed below the display window;   an elevating attachment coupled to the base and extending above the upper layer of the base, the elevating attachment configured to hold a portable electronic device above the upper layer;   wherein the upper layer is angled relative to the bottom layer.   
     
     
         2 . The product demonstration fixture of  claim 1 , wherein the base comprises a wedge shape defined in part by the upper layer and the bottom layer. 
     
     
         3 . The product demonstration fixture of  claim 1 , wherein the electronic display is visible through the display window. 
     
     
         4 . The product demonstration fixture of  claim 1 , wherein the electronic display is completely disposed below the upper layer. 
     
     
         5 . The product demonstration fixture of  claim 1 , wherein the base comprises a housing defined in part by the upper layer and the bottom layer, and wherein the electronic display is disposed within the housing. 
     
     
         6 . The product demonstration fixture of  claim 1 , further comprising a portable electronic device attached to the elevating attachment. 
     
     
         7 . The product demonstration fixture of  claim 6 , wherein the portable electronic device is rigidly attached to the elevating attachment. 
     
     
         8 . The product demonstration fixture of  claim 6 , wherein the elevating attachment holds the portable electronic device above the upper layer of the base. 
     
     
         9 . The product demonstration fixture of  claim 6 , wherein the electronic display is configured to display information related to the portable electronic device. 
     
     
         10 . The product demonstration fixture of  claim 6 , wherein the electronic display is configured to communicate with a portable electronic device. 
     
     
         11 . The product demonstration fixture of  claim 6 , wherein the electronic display is configured to allow a user to communicate with the portable electronic device. 
     
     
         12 . The product demonstration fixture of  claim 1 , wherein the electronic display comprises a touch screen disposed below the display window. 
     
     
         13 . The product demonstration fixture of  claim 1 , wherein display window and the elevating attachment are disposed in a side-by-side relationship on the base. 
     
     
         14 . The product demonstration fixture of  claim 1 , wherein the electronic display is a tablet computing device. 
     
     
         15 . The product demonstration fixture of  claim 1 , wherein the portable electronic device is a wearable device. 
     
     
         16 . The product demonstration fixture of  claim 1 , wherein the elevating attachment is made from an optically clear material. 
     
     
         17 . A display assembly for a portable electronic device, the display assembly comprising:
 a product demonstration fixture comprising an upper layer comprising a display window;   an electronic display disposed within the product demonstration fixture below the display window;   an elevating attachment coupled to the product demonstration fixture; and   a portable electronic device attached to the elevating attachment and at least partially located above the upper layer of the product demonstration fixture;   wherein the electronic display is visible through the display window and is configured to display information related to the portable electronic device.   
     
     
         18 . The display assembly of  claim 17 , wherein the electronic display is configured to advertise one or more features or configurations of the portable electronic device. 
     
     
         19 . The display assembly of  claim 17 , wherein the electronic display is configured to display purchase information related to the portable electronic device. 
     
     
         20 . The display assembly of  claim 17 , wherein the electronic display is configured to communicate with the portable electronic device. 
     
     
         21 . The display assembly of  claim 17 , wherein the electronic display is configured to allow a user to interact with the portable electronic device. 
     
     
         22 . The display assembly of  claim 17 , wherein the electronic display is configured to mimic a device that interacts with the portable electronic device. 
     
     
         23 . The display assembly of  claim 22 , wherein the electronic display is configured to mimic a cellular phone. 
     
     
         24 . The display assembly of  claim 17 , wherein the electronic display is configured to send an electronic message to the portable electronic device. 
     
     
         25 . The display of assembly of  claim 24 , wherein the electronic message is a telephone call or a text message. 
     
     
         26 . The display assembly of  claim 17 , wherein the electronic display is a tablet computing device. 
     
     
         27 . The display assembly of  claim 17 , wherein the portable electronic device is a wearable device. 
     
     
         28 . The display assembly of  claim 17 , wherein the electronic display and the portable electronic device are coupled to a power source.
