Seat-forming assembly and a chair having the same

Abstract

A chair includes a frame having a coupling member, and a seat-forming assembly. The seat-forming assembly includes first and second plate members, a linking member and a hook unit. The first and second plate members serve respectively as a seat and a backrest of the chair, and each have a connecting portion and a hook-mounting portion opposite to each other. The linking member links the connecting portions of the first and second plate members together. The hook unit includes a plurality of first hooks connected to the hook-mounting portion of the first plate member, and a plurality of second hooks connected to the hook-mounting portion of the second plate member. The first and second hooks are capable of detachably engaging the coupling member.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A chair comprising:
 a frame including a coupling member; and   a seat-forming assembly including
 first and second plate members that serve respectively as a seat and a backrest of said chair, each of said first and second plate members having a connecting portion and a hook-mounting portion that is opposite to said connecting portion, 
 a linking member that links said connecting portions of said first and second plate members together, and 
 a hook unit that includes a plurality of first hooks connected to said hook-mounting portion of said first plate member, and a plurality of second hooks connected to said hook-mounting portion of said second plate member, said first and second hooks being capable of detachably engaging said coupling member of said frame. 
   
     
     
         2 . The chair as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein said coupling member has curved first and second coupling portions opposite to each other, said hook-mounting portion of each of said first and second plate members being proximate to a respective one of said first and second coupling portions, and having a curvature that substantially equals that of the respective one of said first and second coupling portions. 
     
     
         3 . The chair as claimed in  claim 2 , wherein said connecting portion of each of said first and second plate members is formed with a plurality of spaced-apart through holes, and said linking member is a rope extending through said through holes. 
     
     
         4 . The chair as claimed in  claim 3 , wherein each of said first and second hooks of said hook unit has a hook body that defines
 a groove receiving removably a corresponding one of said first and second coupling portions of said coupling member of said frame, and   an opening communicating said groove and having a width smaller than a diameter of the corresponding one of said first and second coupling portions of said coupling member.   
     
     
         5 . The chair as claimed in  claim 4 , wherein said frame further includes
 a first leg frame,   a second leg frame connected pivotably to said first leg frame,   two extension rods spaced apart from each other and mounted telescopically on a top portion of said first leg frame, and   two positioning members for respectively positioning said extension rods relative to said first leg frame;   said coupling member being mounted between said second leg frame and said extension rods in an inclined manner;   each of said first and second plate members including a border frame that has said connecting portion and said hook-mounting portion, and a support net that is connected to and disposed within said border frame.   
     
     
         6 . The chair as claimed in  claim 4 , wherein said frame further includes
 a first leg frame mounted pivotably on a front portion of said coupling member, and   a second leg frame mounted pivotably on a rear portion of said coupling member;   said coupling member being mounted between said first leg frame and said second leg frame in an inclined manner;   each of said first and second plate members including a border frame that has said connecting portion and said hook-mounting portion, and a support net that is connected to and disposed within said border frame.   
     
     
         7 . A seat-forming assembly adapted to be mounted on a frame of a chair, said seat-forming assembly comprising:
 first and second plate members adapted to serve respectively as a seat and a backrest of the chair, each of said first and second plate members having a connecting portion and a hook-mounting portion that is opposite to said connecting portion;   a linking member linking said connecting portions of said first and second plate members together; and   a hook unit including a plurality of first hooks connected to said hook-mounting portion of said first plate member, and a plurality of second hooks connected to said hook-mounting portion of said second plate member, said first and second hooks being adapted for detachably engaging the frame of the chair.   
     
     
         8 . The seat-forming assembly as claimed in  claim 7 , wherein each of said first and second plate members includes a border frame having said connecting portion and said hook-mounting portion, and a support net connected to and disposed within said border frame. 
     
     
         9 . The seat-forming assembly as claimed in  claim 8 , said connecting portion of each of said first and second plate members is formed with a plurality of spaced-apart through holes, and said linking member is a rope extending through said through holes. 
     
     
         10 . The seat-forming assembly as claimed in  claim 9 , the frame of the chair including a coupling member that has first and second coupling portions, wherein:
 each of said first and second hooks of said hook unit has a hook body that defines
 a groove adapted for receiving removably a corresponding one of the first and second coupling portions of the coupling member of the frame, and 
 an opening communicating said groove and having a width that is smaller than a diameter of the corresponding one of the first and second coupling portions of the coupling member.
