Systems and methods for motion two-dimensional codes
Abstract
Systems and method of the present solution are directed to a motion QR code. In general a motion QR code is a 2D code that evolves over time. More particularly, the motion QR code is displayed, or “played”, to sequentially reveal a plurality of 2D codes. The 2D codes can include 2D barcodes, QR codes, Aztec codes, data matrix codes, or similar codes and are generically referred to as 2D codes. In comparison the a traditional 2D code, the motion QR code dramatically increases the amount of information displayed. The systems and methods described herein a related to a system and method for generating, transmitting, displaying, and authenticating motion QR codes. The QR motion codes can be displayed on, and scanned by, applications executing on client devices such as smartphones and tablet computers. The QR motion codes can be incorporated into traditional IDs, tickets, passes, or other document management systems

1 . A method for generating a motion code, the method comprising:
receiving, by a server, a request to generate a motion code, the request identifying data to be encoded via the motion code; generating, by the server, the motion code comprising a sequence of a plurality of two-dimension (2D) codes to be displayed at a display frequency, the plurality of 2D codes comprising an encoding of the data identified by the request, a first portion of the data encoded in a first 2D code of the plurality of 2D codes to be displayed at a first frame in the display frequency and a second portion of the data encoded in a second 2D code of the plurality of 2D codes to be displayed at a second frame in the display frequency; and transmitting, by the server to a client device, data representing the motion code.
2 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising receiving, by the server, via the request a flow of data to be encoded into and displayed via the motion code.
3 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising receiving, by the server, via the request information to identify at least one of the client device or a user of the client device.
4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the display frequency of the plurality of 2D codes during display at the client device comprises a range from one frame per second to forty frames per second.
5 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising generating, by the server, the motion code configured to change a color based on one of a place, date or time of display of the motion code.
6 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising generating, by the server, the motion code configured to display an empirical representation of one of a corresponding registration, ticket or certificate.
7 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising generating, by the server, the motion code comprising a mask that masks at least a portion of the motion code until displayed at a predetermined time or location.
8 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising transmitting, by the server to a client device, the data representing the motion code responsive to one of a one-factor authentication or a two-factor authentication of a user of the client device.
9 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising transmitting, by the server to a client device, the data representing the motion code responsive to a biometric authentication of a user of the client device.
10 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising determining, by the server, a permission for the motion code responsive to an identification of one of a predetermined event or place.
11 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising receiving, by the server, the request to verify to generate the motion code from an entity different than an entity checking an authentication for the motion code.
12 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising receiving, by the server, a grant of permission for generating the motion code from an entity different than an entity receiving presentation of the motion code via the client device.
13 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising generating, by the server, a steganogram comprising the motion code.
14 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising changing dynamically, by one of the server or the client device, the display frequency at which one or more of the 2D codes of the motion code are displayed.
15 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising generating, by the server, an audio signal to be played with the motion code, the audio signal comprising an encoding a of a portion of the data of the request.
16 . The method of claim 15 , further comprising generating, by the server, a steganogram comprising the audio signal.
17 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising generating, by the server, the motion code to encode a portion of the data identified by the request via selection of one or more colors for the motion code.
18 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising transmitting, by the server, to the client device information comprising instructions for displaying the motion code.
19 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising transmitting, by the server to the client device, data comprising a byte array to represent the motion code, the motion code comprising a flow of data.
20 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising encrypting, by the server, the motion code and transmitting the encrypted motion code to the client device.
21 . A system for generating a motion code, the system comprising:
a server, the server comprising:
a receiver configured to receive a request to generate a motion code, the request identifying data to be encoded via the motion code;
a motion code generator configured to generate the motion code comprising a sequence of a plurality of two-dimension (2D) codes to be displayed at a display frequency, the plurality of 2D codes comprising an encoding of the data identified by the request, wherein a first portion of the data is encoded in a first 2D code of the plurality of 2D codes to be displayed at a first frame in the display frequency and a second portion of the data is encoded in a second 2D code of the plurality of 2D codes to be displayed at a second frame in the display frequency;
a transmitter configured to transmit data representing the motion code.
22 . The system of claim 21 , wherein the server is further configured to receive via the request a flow of data to be encoded into and displayed via the motion code.
23 . The system of claim 21 , wherein the server is further configured to receive via the request via the request information to identify at least one of the client device or a user of the client device.
24 . The system of claim 21 , wherein the display frequency comprises a range from one frame per second to forty frames per second.
25 . The system of claim 21 , wherein the motion code generator is further configured to generate the motion code to change a color based on one of a place, date or time of display of the motion code.
26 . The system of claim 21 , wherein display of the motion code provides an empirical representation of one of a corresponding registration, ticket, or certificate.
27 . The system of claim 21 , wherein the motion code generator is further configured to generate a mask that masks at least a portion of the motion code until displayed at a predetermined time or location.
28 . The system of claim 21 , wherein the transmitter is further configured to transmit the data representing the motion code responsive to one of a one-factor authentication or a two-factor authentication of a user of the client device
29 . The system of claim 21 , wherein the transmitter is further configured to transmit the data representing the motion code responsive to a biometric authentication of a user of the client device.
30 . The system of claim 21 , further comprising a security module configured to determine a permission for the motion code responsive to an identification of one of a predetermined event or place.
31 . The system of claim 21 , one of the server or the client device is further configured to dynamically change the display frequency at which one or more of the 2D codes of the motion code are displayed.
32 . The system of claim 21 , wherein the receiver module is further configured to the request to from an entity different than an entity checking an authentication for the motion code.
33 . The system of claim 21 , wherein the receiver module is further configured to receive a grant of permission for generating the motion code from an entity different than an entity receiving presentation of the motion code via the client device.
34 . The system of claim 21 , wherein the motion code generator is further configured to generate a steganogram comprising the motion code.
35 . The system of claim 21 , wherein the motion code generator is further configured to generate an audio signal to be played with the motion code, the audio signal comprising an encoding of a portion of the data of the request.
36 . The system of claim 21 , wherein the motion code generator is further configured to generate a steganogram comprising the audio signal.
37 . The system of claim 21 , wherein the motion code generator is further configured to encode a portion of the data identified by the request via selection of one or more colors for the motion code.
38 . The system of claim 21 , wherein the server is further configured to transmit to the client device information comprising instructions for displaying the motion code.
39 . The system of claim 21 , wherein the server is further configured to the client device, data comprising a byte array to represent the motion code, the motion code comprising a flow of data.
40 . The system of claim 21 , wherein the server is further configured to encrypt the motion code and transmit the encrypted motion code to the client device.
41 . A method for displaying a motion code, the method comprising:
receiving, by a client, from a server a byte array comprising a plurality of data items to be provided via a motion code; generating, by a motion code generation module from the byte array, the motion code comprising a sequence of a plurality of two-dimension (2D) codes to be displayed at a display frequency, the plurality of 2D codes comprising at least a first data item of the plurality of data items encoded in a first 2D code of the plurality of 2D codes to be displayed at a first frame in the display frequency and a second data item of the plurality of data items data encoded in a second 2D code of the plurality of 2D codes to be displayed at a second frame in the display frequency; and displaying, by the client, the sequence of the plurality of 2D codes of the motion code at the display frequency.
42 . The method of claim 41 , further comprising receiving, by the client, the byte array comprising one or more of the following: a color data item to represent color, a permissions data item to represent permissions, a mask data item to represent a mask, a steganography data item to provide a stegnanogram.
43 . The method of claim 42 , further comprising controlling, by the client, use of the motion code based on the permissions stored in the permissions data item.
44 . The method of claim 42 , further comprising changing, by the client, a color of the display responsive to the color data item.
45 . The method of claim 42 , further comprising displaying, by the client, at least a portion of the plurality of 2D codes of the motion code with the mask responsive to the mask data item.
46 . The method of claim 42 , further comprising hiding, by the client, the motion code within an image provided by data stored via the steganography data item.
47 . The method of claim 42 , further comprising playing, by the client with the motion code, audio data stored via the steganography data item.
48 . The method of claim 41 , further comprising displaying, by the client, the motion code at the display frequency identified by a frequency data item of the byte array.
49 . A system for displaying a motion code, the system comprising:
a client device configured to receive from a server a byte array comprising a plurality of data items to be provided via a motion code; a motion code generation module configured to generate, from the byte array, the motion code comprising a sequence of a plurality of two-dimension (2D) codes to be displayed at a display frequency, the plurality of 2D codes comprising at least a first data item of the plurality of data items encoded in a first 2D code of the plurality of 2D codes to be displayed at a first frame in the display frequency and a second data item of the plurality of data items data encoded in a second 2D code of the plurality of 2D codes to be displayed at a second frame in the display frequency; and wherein the client device is configured to display the sequence of the plurality of 2D codes of the motion code at the display frequency.

The system of claim 49 , wherein the client device is further configured to receive the byte array comprising one or more of the following: a color data item to represent color, a permissions data item to represent permissions, a mask data item to represent a mask, a steganography data item to provide a stegnanogram.
51 . The system of claim 50 , wherein the client device is further configured to control use of the motion code based on the permissions stored in the permissions data item.
52 . The system of claim 50 , wherein the client device is further configured to change a color of the display responsive to the color data item.
53 . The system of claim 50 , wherein the client device is further configured to display at least a portion of the plurality of 2D codes of the motion code with the mask responsive to the mask data item.
54 . The system of claim 50 , wherein the client device is further configured to hide the motion code within an image provided by data stored via the steganography data item.
55 . The system of claim 50 , wherein the client device is further configured to play with the motion code audio data stored via the steganography data item.
56 . The system of claim 49 , wherein the client device is further configured to display the motion code at the display frequency identified by a frequency data item of the byte array.
57 .
