Joint for panels
Abstract
A joint having a first edge and a second edge, the first edge being provided with a distal edge and a downwards protruding heel. The distal edge is further provided with an upper joint edge beneath which a groove is arranged. The second edge is provided with lower cheek having a distal end at which an upwards protruding lower cheek heel is arranged. The second edge is further provided with an upper joining edge beneath which an undercut is arranged. A moveable locking element is arranged in the space created by the undercut. The moveable locking element has a locking tongue, a locking tongue leg and a maneuvering leg.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A set of floor panels, wherein the set comprises a first floor panel and a second floor panel;
wherein the first and the second floor panel comprise a top side, an underside and a core, and are provided with a joint; wherein the joint comprises a first edge of the first floor panel and a second edge of the second floor panel; wherein the first edge is provided with a distal edge and a downwards protruding heel, the distal edge being provided with a first upper joining edge; wherein the second edge is provided with a lower cheek comprising a distal end at which an upwards protruding lower cheek heel is arranged, and a second upper joining edge, the lower cheek protruding distally beyond the second upper joining edge; wherein the joint is further provided with a separate locking element with a locking tongue, and a locking groove; wherein the first and the second edge are configured such that the first edge can be joined with the second edge by a vertical motion of the first edge relative to the second edge; wherein a movement of the locking tongue is realized during said vertical motion, the locking tongue thereby engaging the locking groove; wherein the lower cheek is made in one piece with the core of the second floor panel; and wherein at least the top side of the second floor panel is provided with a chamfered surface at the second edge.
2 . The set of floor panels of claim 1 , wherein the chamfered surface adjoins the second upper joining edge.
3 . The set of floor panels of claim 1 , wherein the chamfered surface is substantially planar.
4 . The set of floor panels of claim 1 , wherein the separate locking element, in an assembled condition of the first and the second edge, provides a locking between the first and the second edge in a direction perpendicular to the top side.
5 . The set of floor panels of claim 1 , wherein the lower cheek heel comprises a front face and the downwards protruding heel comprises a rear face; and wherein the front face interacts with the rear face in an assembled condition of the first and the second edge, thereby locking the first and the second edge in a direction parallel to the top side and perpendicular to the first and the second edge.
6 . The set of floor panels of claim 5 , wherein the front face interacts with the rear face in the assembled condition, thereby urging the first and the second upper joining edge together.
7 . The set of floor panels of claim 1 , wherein the separate locking element is made of a thermoplastic material.
8 . The set of floor panels of claim 1 , wherein the top side of the first floor panel is provided with a chamfered surface at the first edge.
9 . The set of floor panels of claim 1 , wherein the movement of the locking tongue is realized by a resilient action.
10 . The set of floor panels of claim 9 , wherein the locking tongue, during said vertical motion, is rotated around a pivot point.
11 . The set of floor panels of claim 1 , wherein the set comprises a third floor panel; wherein the first and the third floor panel are provided with another joint, the other joint comprising a third edge of the first floor panel and a fourth edge of the third floor panel; and wherein the other joint is of a different type than the joint of the first and the second floor panel.
12 . The set of floor panels of claim 11 , wherein said other joint is a click joint.
13 . A set of floor panels, wherein the set comprises a first floor panel and a second floor panel;
wherein the first and the second floor panel comprise a top side, an underside and a core, and are provided with a joint; wherein the joint comprises a first edge of the first floor panel and a second edge of the second floor panel; wherein the first edge is provided with a distal edge and a downwards protruding heel, the distal edge being provided with a first upper joining edge beneath which a groove is arranged; wherein the second edge is provided with a lower cheek comprising a distal end at which an upwards protruding lower cheek heel is arranged, and a second upper joining edge beneath which an undercut is arranged, said undercut creating a space; wherein the lower cheek protrudes distally beyond the second upper joining edge; wherein a locking element is arranged in the space created by the undercut, the locking element comprising a locking tongue; wherein the first and the second edge are configured such that the first edge can be joined with the second edge by a vertical motion of the first edge relative to the second edge; wherein a movement of the locking tongue is realized during said vertical motion, the locking tongue thereby engaging the groove; and wherein at least the top side of the second floor panel is provided with a chamfered surface at the second edge.
14 . The set of floor panels of claim 13 , wherein the chamfered surface adjoins the second upper joining edge.
15 . The set of floor panels of claim 13 , wherein the chamfered surface is substantially planar.
16 . The set of floor panels of claim 13 , wherein the locking element, in an assembled condition of the first and the second edge, provides a locking between the first and the second edge in a direction perpendicular to the top side.
17 . The set of floor panels of claim 13 , wherein the lower cheek heel comprises a front face and the downwards protruding heel comprises a rear face; and wherein the front face interacts with the rear face in an assembled condition of the first and the second edge, thereby locking the first and the second edge in a direction parallel to the top side and perpendicular to the first and the second edge.
18 . The set of floor panels of claim 17 , wherein the front face interacts with the rear face in the assembled condition, thereby urging the first and the second upper joining edge together.
19 . The set of floor panels of claim 13 , wherein the separate locking element is made of a thermoplastic material.
