System and Method for Transmitting a Services List to a Playback Device

Abstract

There is provided a device including a display and a processor to receive, from a user, a user selection of a message share setting for enabling the user to post across a plurality of social networking services, send, to a server, the user selection for enabling the user to post across the plurality of social networking services, play a video on the display, in response to a video request by the user, and receive, from the user, a request to post across the plurality of social networking services, provide a dialog entry on the display, in response to receiving the request, receive, from the user, via the dialog entry on the display, a message to be shared across the plurality of social networking services, and send, to the server, the message from the user to be posted on the plurality of social networking services.

         21 . A device comprising:
 a display; and   a processor configured to:
 receive, from a user, a user selection of a message share setting for enabling the user to post across a plurality of social networking services; 
 send, to a server, the user selection of the message share setting for enabling the user to post across the plurality of social networking services; 
 play a video on the display, in response to a video request by the user; 
 receive, from the user, while playing the video on the display, a request to post across the plurality of social networking services; 
 provide a dialog entry on the display, in response to receiving the request from the user to post across the plurality of social networking services; 
 receive, from the user, via the dialog entry on the display, a message to be shared across the plurality of social networking services; and 
 send, to the server, the message from the user to be posted on the plurality of social networking services. 
   
     
     
         22 . The device of  claim 21 , wherein prior to receiving the user selection, the processor is further configured to:
 send, to the server, a service request for a list of available social networking services; and   receive, from the server, the list of available social networking services, in response to the service request;   wherein the list of available social networking services include the plurality of social networking services.   
     
     
         23 . The device of  claim 22 , wherein receiving the list of available social networking services comprises receiving a metadata file including information categorizing contents within the list. 
     
     
         24 . The device of  claim 21 , wherein prior to sending the message, the processor is further configured to:
 send, to the server, an activation request to log into a user account of each of the plurality of social networking services.   
     
     
         25 . The device of  claim 24 , wherein the activation request includes user accounts information for logging into each of the plurality of social networking services. 
     
     
         26 . A method for use by a device including a display and a processor, the method comprising:
 receiving, from a user, a user selection of a message share setting for enabling the user to post across a plurality of social networking services;   sending, to a server, the user selection of the message share setting for enabling the user to post across the plurality of social networking services;   playing a video on the display, in response to a video request by the user;   receiving, from the user, while playing the video on the display, a request to post across the plurality of social networking services;   providing a dialog entry on the display, in response to receiving the request from the user to post across the plurality of social networking services;   receiving, from the user, via the dialog entry on the display, a message to be shared across the plurality of social networking services; and   sending, to the server, the message from the user to be posted on the plurality of social networking services.   
     
     
         27 . The method of  claim 26 , wherein prior to receiving the user selection, the method further comprises:
 sending, to the server, a service request for a list of available social networking services; and   receiving, from the server, the list of available social networking services, in response to the service request;   wherein the list of available social networking services include the plurality of social networking services.   
     
     
         28 . The method of  claim 27 , wherein receiving the list of available social networking services comprises receiving a metadata file including information categorizing contents within the list. 
     
     
         29 . The method of  claim 26 , wherein prior to sending the message, the method further comprises:
 sending, to the server, an activation request to log into a user account of each of the plurality of social networking services.

         31 . A device comprising:
 a display; and   a processor configured to:
 receive, from a user, a user selection of a message share setting for enabling the user to post across a plurality of third party services; 
 send, to a server, the user selection of the message share setting for enabling the user to post across the plurality of third party services; 
 receive, from the user, a request to post across the plurality of third party services; 
 provide a dialog entry on the display, in response to receiving the request from the user to post across the plurality of third party services; 
 receive, from the user, via the dialog entry on the display, a message to be shared across the plurality of third party services; and 
 send, to the server, the message from the user to be posted on the plurality of third party services. 
   
     
     
         32 . The device of  claim 31 , wherein prior to receiving the user selection, the processor is further configured to:
 send, to the server, a service request for a list of available third party services; and   receive, from the server, the list of available third party services, in response to the service request;   wherein the list of available third party services include the plurality of third party services.   
     
     
         33 . The device of  claim 32 , wherein receiving the list of available third party services comprises receiving a metadata file including information categorizing contents within the list. 
     
     
         34 . The device of  claim 31 , wherein prior to sending the message, the processor is further configured to:
 send, to the server, an activation request to log into a user account of each of the plurality of third party services.   
     
     
         35 . The device of  claim 34 , wherein the activation request includes user accounts information for logging into each of the plurality of third party services. 
     
     
         36 . A server comprising:
 a processor configured to:
 receive, from a device of a user, a user selection of a message share setting for enabling the user to post across a plurality of social networking services; 
 log into a user account of each of the plurality of social networking services, using credentials of the user; 
 receive, from the device of the user, a message to be shared across the plurality of social networking services; and 
 post the message from the user on the plurality of social networking services, in response to receiving the message and the user selection of a message share setting. 
   
     
     
         37 . The device of  claim 36 , wherein the message is received while the device is playing a video on a display of the device. 
     
     
         38 . The device of  claim 36 , wherein prior to receiving the user selection, the processor is further configured to:
 receive, from the device of the user, a service request for a list of available social networking services; and   send, to the device of the user, the list of available social networking services, in response to the service request;   wherein the list of available social networking services include the plurality of social networking services.   
     
     
         39 . The device of  claim 36 , wherein the list of available social networking services is dynamically updated to reflect present availability of social networking services. 
     
     
         40 . The device of  claim 39 , wherein sending the list of available social networking services comprises sending a metadata file including information categorizing contents within the list.
