Abstract
Embodiments of a method and system for utilizing user-designed applications are disclosed. A user-designed application that utilizes at least one high-level API available within a system may be received. The user-designed application may be deployed server-side within the system. A user request may be processed server-side for the user-designed application in the system.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A method comprising:
deploying a user-designed application at a system, the user-designed application causing the system to provide a feature that was not provided by the system prior to the deploying of the user-designed application; receiving a request, from the client device, to access content from the user-designed application; and processing the request to determine whether to provide access or deny access to the content through the user-designed application based on utilization levels of one or more resources of the system.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein processing the request to determine whether to provide access or deny access to the content through the user-designed application based on the utilization levels of one or more of the resources of the system further comprising:
determining to provide access to the content through the user-designed application when utilization of cycles of a central processing unit (CPU) does not exceed a system threshold.
3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein processing the request to determine whether to provide access or deny access to the content through the user-designed application based on the utilization levels of one or more of the resources of the system further comprising:
determining to provide access to the content through the user-designed application when utilization of a memory device does not exceed a system threshold.
4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein processing the request to determine whether to provide access or deny access to the content through the user-designed application based on the utilization levels of one or more of the resources of the system further comprising:
determining to provide access to the content through the user-designed application when utilization of a number of system calls does not exceed a system threshold.
5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the utilization levels includes a system threshold of a resource of the system such that access to the content of the user-designed application is denied based on utilization of the resource of the system exceeding a system threshold of the resource of the system.
6 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
in response to processing the request and determining to provide access to the content through the user-designed application, providing access to the content of the user-designed application via a plurality of low-level application program interfaces (APIs) embodied as at least one high-level API.
7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein at least one of the high-level APIs invokes API calls to some of the plurality of low-level APIs simultaneously.
8 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the feature includes a user-designed interface that is different from a standard interface provided by the system.
9 . The method of claim 8 , wherein the user-designed interface provides access to content stored within the system and access to content available outside the system via website links or other resources.
10 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
tracking utilization of one or more of the resources of the system.
11 . The method of claim 10 , wherein tracking the utilization of one or more of the resources of the system further comprising:
tracking utilization of one or more of the resources of the system associated with the user-designed application.
12 . The method of claim 11 , further comprising:
determining compensation associated with the user-designed application based on tracking the utilization of one or more of the resources of the system associated with the user-designed application.
13 . A system comprising:
a memory device for storing instructions; a processor, when executing the instructions, causes the system to perform operations comprising: deploying a user-designed application at a system, the user-designed application causing the system to provide a feature that was not provided by the system prior to the deploying of the user-designed application; receiving a request, from a client device, to access content from the user-designed application; and processing the request to determine whether to provide access or deny access to the content through the user-designed application based on utilization levels of one or more resources of the system.
14 . The method of claim 13 , wherein the utilization levels includes a system threshold of a resource of the system such that access to the content of the user-designed application is denied based on utilization of the resource of the system exceeding the system threshold of the resource of the system.
15 . The system of claim 13 , wherein the processor, when executing the instructions, causes the system to perform operations further comprising:
in response to processing the request and determining to provide access to the content through the user-designed application, providing access to the content of the user-designed application via a plurality of low-level APIs embodied as at least one high-level API.
16 . The system of claim 15 , wherein the processor, when executing the instructions, causes the system to perform the operation, in response to determining to provide access to the content through the user-designed application by processing the request, providing access to the content of the user-designed application via a plurality of low-level APIs embodied as at least one high-level API further comprising:
invoking, by at least one of the high-level APIs, API calls to some of the plurality of low-level APIs simultaneously.
17 . The system of claim 13 , wherein the feature includes a user-designed interface that is different from a standard interface provided by the system.
18 . The system of claim 13 , wherein the processor, when executing the instructions, causes the system to perform operations further comprising:
tracking utilization of one or more of the resources of the system associated with the user-designed application.
19 . The system of claim 13 , wherein the processor, when executing the instructions, causes the system to perform operations further comprising:
determining compensation associated with the user-designed application based on tracking the utilization of one or more of the resources of the system associated with the user-designed application
20 . A non-transitory machine readable medium storing instructions that, when executed by a machine, cause the machine to perform operations comprising:
deploying a user-designed application at a system, the user-designed application causing the system to provide a feature that was not provided by the system prior to the deploying of the user-designed application; receiving a request, from a client device, to access content from the user-designed application; and processing the request to determine whether to provide access or deny access to the content through the user-designed application based on utilization levels of one or more resources.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
