Hunting boot with pocket for scent wick

Abstract

A scent dispersing boot is provided having a vertically aligned pocket attached to the upper, wherein the pocket is biased in an open position and apertured to allow air to circulate. A wick is impregnated with a game-attracting scent and inserted in the pocket. The pocket is particularly suited for use with spike wicks, having a head and a leg, wherein the leg is dipped in a liquid, game-attracting scent and inserted in the pocket with the leg of the wick extending from the bottom of the pocket.

         21 . A scent dispersing boot, comprising:
 (a) a boot having a sole and an upper, wherein the upper comprises a quarter section extending upward from the sole;   (b) a pocket formed from a strip of material attached to the quarter section of the upper, wherein the pocket is defined by a first side edge, a second side edge opposite the first side edge, a top and a bottom, wherein the top of the pocket is wider across than the bottom of the pocket and the top of the pocket is in a biased-open position, and wherein the pocket is aligned vertically and extends upward from a sole of the boot; and   (c) a wick inserted in the pocket, wherein the wick has a hole therein for hanging the wick from a branch when the wick is removed from the pocket; and   (d) a game-attracting scent impregnating the wick.   
     
     
         22 . The scent dispersing boot of  claim 21 , wherein the bottom of the pocket has an opening therein. 
     
     
         23 . The scent dispersing boot of  claim 22 , wherein the game-attracting scent is a liquid absorbed by the wick, and the scent is dispersed by the liquid dripping through the opening in the bottom of the pocket. 
     
     
         24 . The scent dispersing boot of  claim 22 , wherein the wick is an elongated felt strip having an upper end and a lower end, and wherein the upper end of the felt strip is wider than the opening in the bottom of the pocket. 
     
     
         25 . The scent dispersing boot of  claim 24 , wherein the lower end of the felt strip is narrower than the opening in the bottom of the pocket, and the lower end of the felt strip protrudes through the opening in the bottom of the pocket. 
     
     
         26 . The scent dispersing boot of  claim 21 , wherein the wick is an elongated felt strip having a head and a leg, wherein the head is narrower across than the top of the pocket and wider across than the bottom of the pocket, and the hole is positioned in the head. 
     
     
         27 . The scent dispersing boot of  claim 21 , wherein the wick is an elongated felt strip having a thickness of from ⅛″ to ½″. 
     
     
         28 . A scent dispersing scent dispersing boot, comprising:
 (a) boot having a sole and an upper, wherein the upper comprises a quarter section extending upward from the sole;   (b) a pocket formed from a strip of flexible, resilient material attached to the quarter section of the upper, wherein the pocket is defined by a first side edge, a second side edge opposite the first side edge, a top and a bottom, wherein the top of the pocket is wider across than the bottom of the pocket and the top of the pocket is in a biased-open position, and the bottom of the pocket has an opening therein, and wherein the pocket is aligned vertically and extends upward from a sole of the boot; and   (c) a wick inserted in the pocket, wherein the wick has an upper end and a lower end and the upper end is wider across than the opening in the bottom of the pocket; and   (d) a liquid, game-attracting scent impregnating the wick, wherein the scent is dispersed by the liquid dripping through the opening in the bottom of the pocket.

The scent dispersing boot of  claim 28 , wherein top of the pocket is 1″ or greater across and the bottom of the pocket is ¾″ inch or less across, the distance between the top of the pocket and the bottom of the pocket is 2″ or greater, and the top of the pocket is biased open ¼″ or greater. 
     
     
         30 . The scent dispersing boot of  claim 28 , wherein the strip of material forming the pocket is an elastomer coated textile fabric. 
     
     
         31 . The scent dispersing boot of  claim 28 , wherein the upper of the boot forms an inside of the pocket. 
     
     
         32 . The scent dispersing boot of  claim 28 , wherein the pocket further comprises an inner sheet extending from the first side edge to the second side edge and overlaying the boot upper, which prevents the liquid, game-attracting scent from permeating the boot upper. 
     
     
         33 . The scent dispersing boot of  claim 28 , wherein the strip of material forming the pocket comprises a plurality of perforations through the material, and the scent is dispersed by air circulating through the pocket. 
     
     
         34 . A scent dispersing boot, comprising:
 (a) a boot having an upper;   (b) a pocket formed from a strip of material attached to the upper, wherein the pocket is defined by a first side edge, a second side edge opposite the first side edge, a top and a bottom, wherein the top of the pocket is wider across than the bottom of the pocket and the top of the pocket is in a biased-open position, and wherein the pocket is aligned vertically and extends upward from a sole of the boot; and   (c) a wick impregnated with a liquid, game-attracting scent inserted in the pocket, wherein the wick is inserted by sliding the wick through the top of the pocket.   
     
     
         35 . The scent dispersing boot of  claim 34 , wherein the top of the pocket is biased open greater than ½″, and the wick has a thickness of from ⅛″ to ½″. 
     
     
         36 . The scent dispersing boot of  claim 34 , wherein top of the pocket is 1″ or greater across and the bottom of the pocket is ¾″ inch or less across, the distance between the top of the pocket and the bottom of the pocket is 2″ or greater, and the top of the pocket is biased open ¼″ or greater. 
     
     
         37 . The scent dispersing boot of  claim 34 , wherein the wick engages the first side edge and the second side edge of the pocket, when the wick is inserted. 
     
     
         38 . The scent dispersing boot of  claim 34 , wherein the bottom of the pocket has an opening therein and the game-attracting scent is dispersed by the liquid dripping through the opening in the bottom of the pocket. 
     
     
         39 . The scent dispersing boot of  claim 38 , further comprising apertures in the strip of material and the scent is dispersed by air circulating through the pocket. 
     
     
         40 . The scent dispersing boot of  claim 34 , wherein the bottom of the pocket has an opening therein, and the wick is an elongated felt strip having an upper end and a lower end, wherein the upper end is wider across than the bottom opening in the pocket and the upper end has a hole therein for supporting the wick on a branch when the wick is removed from the pocket, and wherein the lower end of the wick is narrower across than the opening in the bottom of the pocket and the lower end of the wick protrudes through the opening.
