Abstract
Methods and devices for selectively presenting a user interface after waking from a stand-by mode. More particularly, the method includes a device entering a stand-by mode while in a first orientation or state. While in the stand-by mode, the device changes orientation or state. The device can determine the new orientation or state upon waking and provide the appropriate display for the new orientation or state.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 - 20 . (canceled)
21 . A method, comprising:
providing a device having at least first and second displays, wherein the device is in a first orientation; displaying a first window; entering into a stand-by mode; receiving input to wake the device from the stand-by mode; upon waking but before providing content in the first and/or second displays, determining a second orientation of the device after waking the device; and upon waking but before providing content in the first and/or second displays and in response to the determining of the second orientation of the device, displaying a second window after waking.
22 . The method of claim 21 , wherein the device changes from the first orientation to the second orientation while in the stand-by mode.
23 . The method of claim 22 , wherein the first window has a first configuration associated with the first orientation.
24 . The method of claim 23 , wherein the second window has a second configuration associated with the second orientation.
25 . The method of claim 24 , wherein the first and second windows are different.
26 . The method of claim 25 , wherein the first orientation is a landscape orientation in a closed state, further comprising:
determining that the second orientation is a landscape orientation in an open state; and providing a dual display landscape window after waking.
27 . The method of claim 25 , wherein the first orientation is a landscape orientation in a closed state, further comprising:
determining that the second orientation is a portrait orientation in an open state; and providing a dual display portrait window after waking.
28 . The method of claim 25 , wherein the first orientation is a landscape orientation in an open state, further comprising:
determining that the second orientation is a portrait orientation in an open state; and providing a dual display portrait window after waking.
29 . The method of claim 25 , wherein the device enters the stand-by mode after a predetermined time of inactivity.
30 . The method of claim 29 , wherein the input to wake the device is a user interface input.
31 . A device, comprising:
a first display, the first display including a first gesture capture region; a second display, wherein the second display faces an opposite direction from the first display when the device is closed, and wherein an image capture lens is associated with the second display; a memory; a processor in communication with the memory, the first display, and the second display, the processor operable to:
enter into a stand-by mode;
receive input to wake the device from the stand-by mode; and
on waking but before providing content in the first and/or second displays, determine a new orientation of the device after waking the device;
on waking but before providing content in the first and/or second displays and in response to the determining of the new orientation of the device, displaying the second window after waking.
32 . The device of claim 31 , wherein the device has a second orientation after waking, wherein the device provides a first window associated with a first orientation before entering the stand-by mode, wherein the device provides the second window associated with the new orientation, and wherein the first and second windows are different.
33 . The device of claim 31 , wherein the first orientation is a landscape orientation in a closed state, the processor further operable to:
determine that the second orientation is a landscape orientation in an open state; and provide a dual display landscape window after waking.
34 . The device of claim 31 , wherein the first orientation is a landscape orientation in an open state, the processor further operable to:
determine that the second orientation is a portrait orientation in an open state; and provide a dual display portrait window after waking.
35 . The device of claim 34 , wherein the device enters the stand-by mode after a predetermined time of inactivity, and wherein the input to wake the device is a user interface input.
36 . A non-transitory computer readable medium having stored thereon computer-executable instructions, the computer executable instructions causing a processor of a device to execute a method for providing a user interface, the computer-executable instructions comprising:
instructions to window a first window; instructions to enter into a stand-by mode; instructions to receive input to wake the device from the stand-by mode; on waking but before providing content in the first and/or second displays, instructions to determine a second orientation of the device after waking the device, and on waking but before providing content in the first and/or second displays, and ion response to the determining of the second orientation of the device, instructions to window a second window after waking.
37 . The computer readable medium of claim 36 , wherein the first and second windows are different.
38 . The computer readable medium of claim 37 , wherein the first orientation is a landscape orientation in a closed state, further comprising instructions to:
determine that the second orientation is a landscape orientation in an open state; and provide a dual display landscape window after waking.
39 . The computer readable medium of claim 37 , wherein the first orientation is a landscape orientation in an open state, further comprising instructions to:
determine that the second orientation is a portrait orientation in an open state; and provide a dual display portrait window after waking.
40 . The computer readable medium of claim 37 , wherein the device enters the standby mode after a predetermined time of inactivity, and wherein the input to wake the device is a user interface input.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
