Abstract

In one embodiment, a method of using a biosample storage cartridge includes performing bioanalysis on one or more biosamples in one or more biosample plates in a holder of a biosample storage cartridge, the biosample storage cartridge having an enclosure having a same form factor as a data tape cartridge that is configured for use in an automated tape library, the holder being disposed in the enclosure, wherein the holder comprises a plurality of slots, each slot being configured to receive a biosample plate. In another embodiment, a computer program product for using a biosample storage cartridge, the computer program product including a computer readable storage medium having program instructions embodied therewith, the program instructions executable by an analytical system to cause the analytical system to perform the foregoing method.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A computer-implemented method of using a biosample storage cartridge comprising:
 performing bioanalysis on one or more biosamples in one or more biosample plates in a holder of a biosample storage cartridge, the biosample storage cartridge having an enclosure having a same form factor as a data tape cartridge that is configured for use in an automated tape library, the holder being disposed in the enclosure, wherein the holder comprises a plurality of slots, each slot being configured to receive a biosample plate.   
     
     
         2 . The method as recited in  claim 1 , comprising receiving the one or more biosample plates in the slots. 
     
     
         3 . The method as recited in  claim 1 , comprising retrieving the cartridge from the automated tape library. 
     
     
         4 . The method as recited in  claim 3 , the retrieving being performed using a picker of an access robot of the automated tape library. 
     
     
         5 . The method as recited in  claim 1 , comprising delivering the cartridge to a bioanalysis drive of the automated tape library. 
     
     
         6 . The method as recited in  claim 1 , comprising magnetizing at least some nanoparticles to which the one or more biosamples are attached. 
     
     
         7 . The method as recited in  claim 6 , wherein the magnetizing is performed using a read/write head of a bioanalysis drive of the automated tape library. 
     
     
         8 . The method as recited in  claim 1 , the bioanalysis comprising detecting a presence of the one or more biosamples in the one or more biosample plates. 
     
     
         9 . The method as recited in  claim 8 , wherein the detecting is performed using a read/write head of a bioanalysis drive of the automated tape library. 
     
     
         10 . The method as recited in  claim 1 , wherein the bioanalysis comprises detecting presence of one or more of: a target antigen and a target microorganism in one of the biosample plates. 
     
     
         11 . A computer program product for using a biosample storage cartridge, the computer program product comprising a computer readable storage medium having program instructions embodied therewith, the program instructions executable by an analytical system to cause the analytical system to:
 perform, by the analytical system, bioanalysis on one or more biosamples in one or more biosample plates in a holder of a biosample storage cartridge, the biosample storage cartridge having an enclosure having a same form factor as a data tape cartridge that is configured for use in an automated tape library, the holder being disposed in the enclosure, wherein the holder comprises a plurality of slots, each slot being configured to receive a biosample plate.   
     
     
         12 . The computer program product as recited in  claim 11 , comprising program instructions configured to cause the analytical system to receive the one or more biosample plates in the slots. 
     
     
         13 . The computer program product as recited in  claim 11 , the computer program product comprising program instructions configured to cause the analytical system to retrieve the cartridge from the automated tape library. 
     
     
         14 . The computer program product as recited in  claim 11 , comprising program instructions configured to cause the analytical system to retrieve the cartridge using a picker of an access robot of the automated tape library. 
     
     
         15 . The computer program product as recited in  claim 11 , comprising program instructions configured to cause the analytical system to deliver the cartridge to a bioanalysis drive of the automated tape library. 
     
     
         16 . The computer program product as recited in  claim 11 , comprising program instructions configured to cause the analytical system to magnetize at least some nanoparticles to which the one or more biosamples are attached. 
     
     
         17 . The computer program product as recited in  claim 16 , wherein the magnetizing is performed using a read/write head of a bioanalysis drive of the analytical system. 
     
     
         18 . The computer program product as recited in  claim 11 , the program instructions configured to cause the analytical system to perform the bioanalysis comprising program instructions configured to cause the analytical system to detect a presence of the one or more biosamples in the one or more biosample plates. 
     
     
         19 . The computer program product as recited in  claim 11 , wherein the detecting is performed using a read/write head of the analytical system. 
     
     
         20 . The computer program product as recited in  claim 11 , wherein the bioanalysis comprises detecting a presence of one or more of: a target antigen and a target microorganism in one of the biosample plates.
