Abstract

The present invention pertains, at least in part, to novel substituted tetracycline compounds. These tetracycline compounds can be used to treat numerous tetracycline compound-responsive states, such as bacterial infections and neoplasms.

         393 . A substituted tetracycline compound of Formula (VIII): 
       
         
           
           
               
               
           
         
       
       wherein:
 T is CR 7td ; 
 R 4  is alkylamino; 
 R 4′  is hydrogen; 
 R te  is hydrogen; 
 R 7ta , R 7tb , and R 7tc  are each independently hydrogen, halogen, hydroxyalkyl, hydroxyalkylaminocarbonyl, alkylaminoalkyloxy, aminocarbonyl, alkylaminoalkylaminocarbonyl, aminoalkylaminocarbon yl, methylpiperazinylcarbonyl, alkylaminocarbonyl, heteroarylalkylaminocarbonyl, alkoxycarbonylalkylaminocarbonyl, acylaminoalkylaminocarbonyl, alkoxyaminocarbonyl, alkoxyalkylaminocarbonyl or alkylaminoalkylcarbonylamino, or R 7tb  and R 7tc  are linked to form a ring; and 
 R 7td  is hydroxyalkyl, alkylaminoalkylaminocarbonyl, dialkylaminoalkylaminocarbonyl, hydroxyalkylaminocarbonyl, aminoalkylaminocarbonyl, methylpiperazinylcarbonyl, heteroarylalkylaminocarbonyl, acylaminoalkylaminocarbonyl, or alkoxyalkylaminocarbonyl, or 
 a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof; 
 
       with the proviso that the compound of Formula (VIII) is not 
       
         
           
           
               
               
           
         
       
       or an enantiomer or diastereomer thereof. 
     
     
         394 . The compound of  claim 393 , wherein R 7ta  and R 7tc  are each hydrogen. 
     
     
         395 . The compound of  claim 393 , wherein one of R 7ta , R 7tb , and R 7tc  is halogen. 
     
     
         396 . The compound of  claim 395 , wherein R 7ta  is halogen. 
     
     
         397 . The compound of  claim 393 , wherein R 7tb  and R 7tc  are linked to form a ring. 
     
     
         398 . The compound of  claim 393 , wherein R 7td  is methylaminoalkylaminocarbonyl, dimethylaminoalkylaminocarbonyl, diethylaminoalkylaminocarbonyl, diisoproprylaminoalkylaminocarbonyl, pyrrolidinylalkylaminocarbonyl, piperidinylalkylaminocarbonyl, furanylalkylaminocarbonyl, ethoxycarbonylalkylaminocarbonyl, methoxyaminocarbonyl, or methoxyalkylaminocarbonyl.
