System and method for communicating biblical information

Abstract

A method of communicating biblical information in a hands-free, bi-modal presentation is disclosed. The method includes communicating an audio signal associated with a first biblical verse via an audio output of an electronic device, while simultaneously displaying the first biblical verse on a display of the electronic device, and visually distinguishing the first biblical verse from a remainder of the biblical verses. After communicating the audio signal associated with the first biblical verse, an audio signal associated with a second biblical verse is communicated via the audio output, while simultaneously displaying and visually distinguishing the second biblical verses from a remainder of the biblical verses within the singular page. Without a user scroll command, the electronic device automatically scrolls through the singular page such that each of the biblical verses is visible on the display while the corresponding audio signal is being communicated.

1 . A computer-implemented method of communicating biblical information on a computer display in a hands-free, bi-modal presentation, the method comprising:
 providing an electronic device having a processor communicatively coupled to an audio output port, a memory, a user input interface, and a computer display, the processor operably configured to execute a set of computer instructions, the set of computer instructions stored in the memory and including instructions for:
 bi-modally continuously communicating hands-free a plurality of biblical verses via the audio output port and the computer display of the electronic device without requiring a user input via the user input interface in order to transition from bi-modally communicating any one of the plurality of biblical verses to a subsequent one of the plurality of biblical verses, the bi-modal hands-free communication including simultaneously displaying each of the plurality of biblical verses within a singular page presented on the computer display while visually distinguishing said biblical verse from a remainder of the plurality of biblical verses; and 
   the computer display, without receiving a user scroll command via the user input interface, automatically scrolling through the singular page such that each of the plurality of biblical verses is visible on the computer display while a corresponding audio signal of the biblical verse is being communicated via the audio output port;   wherein the singular page includes a length such that at least a portion of the biblical verses associated with the singular page is not visible when the singular page is presented on the computer display without scrolling to the at least the portion of the biblical verses.   
     
     
         2 . The method in accordance with  claim 1 , wherein:
 the visually distinguishing includes highlighting an entire biblical verse.   
     
     
         3 . The method in accordance with  claim 1 , further comprising:
 receiving a user scroll command to scroll through the singular page such that the biblical verse associated with a first sequential portion of the audio signal being communicated is no longer visible on the computer display;   scrolling through the singular page as a result of the user scroll command; and   after scrolling through the singular page as a result of the user scroll command, causing the electronic device to, without a second user scroll command, automatically scroll through the singular page such that the biblical verse associated with a second sequential portion of the audio signal being communicated is visible on the computer display.   
     
     
         4 . The method in accordance with  claim 1 , further comprising:
 receiving at least one user-entered search term within a search field; and   as a result of receiving the at least one user-entered search term, displaying on the computer display a list associated with each of the plurality of biblical verses that includes the at least one user-entered search term.   
     
     
         5 . The method in accordance with  claim 4 , further comprising:
 receiving a user selection input identifying at least one of the plurality of biblical verses for inclusion in a bi-modal compilation of biblical verses including the at least one user-entered search term.   
     
     
         6 . The method in accordance with  claim 1 , further comprising:
 providing a database, where each of the plurality of biblical verses is stored as:
 a visual file depicting an entire text of the biblical verse, and 
 a corresponding audio file including a pre-recording of the biblical verse; and 
   wherein:
 each visual and corresponding audio file is directly accessible by a user via a verse finder presented on the computer display. 
   
     
     
         7 . The method in accordance with  claim 6 , wherein:
 the verse finder includes:
 a selectively adjustable book display indicator, 
 a selectively adjustable chapter display indicator, and 
 a selectively adjustable verse display indicator. 
   
     
     
         8 . The method in accordance with  claim 1 , further comprising:
 receiving a time selection user-input;   continuously communicating an audio signal associated with the plurality of biblical verses for an amount of time corresponding to the time selection user-input; and   automatically discontinuing the audio signal associated with the plurality of biblical verses after the amount of time has expired.   
     
     
         9 . The method in accordance with  claim 1 , further comprising:
 receiving a time selection user-input;   communicating a sequence of biblical verses in a bi-modal, hands-free presentation via the electronic device for an amount of time corresponding to the time selection user-input; and   automatically discontinuing the bi-modal, hands-free presentation of the sequence of biblical verses after the amount of time has expired.   
     
     
         10 . A computer-implemented system of communicating biblical information on a computer display in a hands-free, bi-modal presentation, the system comprising:
 a processing device communicatively coupled to an electronic device having an audio output, a memory, a user input interface, and a computer display; and   a non-transitory computer readable medium having programming instructions that are operably configured to be executed by the processing device to cause the system to:
 bi-modally continuously communicate hands-free a plurality of biblical verses via the audio output port and the computer display without requiring a user input via the user input interface in order to transition from bi-modally communicating any one of the plurality of biblical verses to a subsequent one of the plurality of biblical verses, the bi-modal hands-free communication including simultaneously displaying each of the plurality of biblical verses within a singular page presented on the computer display while 
 visually distinguishing the one of the plurality of biblical verses from a remainder of the plurality of biblical verses and; 
   without receiving a user scroll command via the user input interface, automatically scroll through the singular page such that each of the plurality of biblical verses is visible on the computer display while a corresponding audio signal of the biblical verse is being communicated via the audio output port;   wherein the singular page includes a length such that at least a portion of the biblical verses associated with the singular page is not visible when the singular page is presented on the computer display without scrolling to the at least the portion of the biblical verses.   
     
     
         11 . The system in accordance with  claim 10 , further comprising:
 a database communicatively coupled to the electronic device, the database including each of the plurality of biblical verses stored as:
 a visual file depicting an entire text of the biblical verse, and 
 a corresponding audio file including a pre-recording of the biblical verse. 
   
     
     
         12 . The system in accordance with  claim 10 , wherein the programming instructions that are executable by the processing device cause the system to:
 receive a user scroll command to scroll through the singular page such that the biblical verse associated with a first sequential portion of the audio signal being communicated is no longer visible on the computer display;   scroll through the singular page as a result of the user scroll command; and   after scrolling through the singular page as a result of the user scroll command, cause the electronic device to, without a second user scroll command, automatically scroll through the singular page such that the biblical verse associated with a second sequential portion of the audio signal being communicated is visible on the computer display.   
     
     
         13 . The system in accordance with  claim 10 , wherein the programming instructions that are executable by the processing device cause the system to:
 receive at least one user-entered search term within a search field; and   as a result of receiving the at least one user-entered search term, display on the computer display a list associated with each of the plurality of biblical verses that includes the at least one user-entered search term.   
     
     
         14 . The system in accordance with  claim 10 , wherein the programming instructions that are executable by the processing device cause the system to:
 receive a time selection user-input;   communicate a sequence of biblical verses in a bi-modal, hands-free presentation via the electronic device for an amount of time corresponding to the time selection user-input; and   automatically discontinue the bi-modal, hands-free presentation of the sequence of biblical verses after the amount of time has expired.   
     
     
         15 . A non-transitory computer readable medium having programming instructions for communicating biblical information in a hands-free, bi-modal presentation, the programming instructions for:
 bi-modally continuously communicating hands-free a plurality of biblical verses via an audio output and a computer display of an electronic device without requiring a user input via a user input interface in order to transition from bi-modally communicating any one of the plurality of biblical verses to a subsequent one of the plurality of biblical verses, the bi-modal hands-free communication including simultaneously displaying each of the plurality of biblical verses within a singular page
 presented on the computer display 
 while visually distinguishing the biblical verse from a remainder of the plurality of biblical verses; and 
   the computer display without receiving a user scroll command via the user input interface, automatically scrolling through the singular page such that each of the plurality of biblical verses is visible on the computer display while a corresponding audio signal of the biblical verse is being communicated via the audio output port;   wherein the singular page includes a length such that at least a portion of the biblical verses associated with the singular page is not visible when the singular page is presented on the computer display without scrolling to the at least the portion of the biblical verses.   
     
     
         16 . The computer readable medium in accordance with  claim 15 , further comprising programming instructions for:
 accessing a database communicatively coupled to the electronic device, the database including each of the plurality of biblical verses stored as:
 a visual file depicting an entire text of the biblical verse, and 
 a corresponding audio file including a pre-recording of the biblical verse. 
   
     
     
         17 . The computer readable medium in accordance with  claim 15 , further comprising programming instructions for:
 receiving a user scroll command to scroll through the singular page such that the biblical verse associated with a first sequential portion of the audio signal being communicated is no longer visible on the computer display;   scrolling through the singular page as a result of the user scroll command; and   after scrolling through the singular page as a result of the user scroll command, causing the electronic device to, without a second user scroll command, automatically scroll through the singular page such that the biblical verse associated with a second sequential portion of the audio signal being communicated is visible on the computer display.   
     
     
         18 . The computer readable medium in accordance with  claim 15 , further comprising programming instructions for:
 receiving at least one user-entered search term within a search field; and   as a result of receiving the at least one user-entered search term, displaying on the computer display a list associated with each of the plurality of biblical verses that includes the at least one user-entered search term.   
     
     
         19 . The computer readable medium in accordance with  claim 15 , further comprising programming instructions for:
 receiving a time selection user-input;   continuously communicating an audio signal associated with the plurality of biblical verses for an amount of time corresponding to the time selection user-input; and   automatically discontinuing the audio signal associated with the plurality of biblical verses after the amount of time has expired.   
     
     
         20 . The computer readable medium in accordance with  claim 15 , further comprising programming instructions for:
 receiving a time selection user-input;   communicating a sequence of biblical verses in a bi-modal, hands-free presentation via the electronic device for an amount of time corresponding to the time selection user-input; and   automatically discontinuing the bi-modal, hands-free presentation of the sequence of biblical verses after the amount of time has expired.
