Efficient Heat Transfer Using Fins

Abstract

A method, system, and apparatus for capturing heat wherein one or more fins are arranged such that hot air is trapped by the fins and must descend below at least one of the fins in order to exit through an outlet.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . An apparatus comprising:
 a cooking pot;   one or more fins disposed around said cooking pot;   an upper portion of said fins connected to one or more side-walls of said cooking pot;   said fins depending downwardly at a non-vertical angle; and   said fins arranged such that hot air around the bottom of said cooking pot travels up between at least one of said fins and a side-wall of said cooking pot.   
     
     
         2 . The apparatus of  claim 1  wherein said one or more fins comprises a plurality of said fins. 
     
     
         3 . The apparatus of  claim 1  wherein at least one of said fins completely encircles said cooking pot. 
     
     
         4 . The apparatus of  claim 1  wherein said fins comprise no openings in an upper portion thereof. 
     
     
         5 . The apparatus of  claim 1  wherein said fins comprise openings at an upper portion thereof which total less than 10% of each of said fin's surface area. 
     
     
         6 . The apparatus of  claim 1  wherein said cooking pot is a round cooking pot and said one or more fins form a circle around said round cooking pot. 
     
     
         7 . A method for creating a cooking surface on one or more sides of a cooking pot comprising:
 disposing one or more fins around the cooking pot;   connecting an upper portion of the fins to one or more side-walls of the cooking pot; and   arranging the fins such that they reside in a downwardly-depending non-vertical configuration such that hot air generated around the bottom of the cooking pot can travel up between at least one of the fins and a sidewall of the cooking pot.   
     
     
         8 . The method of  claim 7  wherein the one or more fins comprise a plurality of fins. 
     
     
         9 . The method of  claim 7  wherein the cooking pot is round and the fins completely encircle the cooking pot.
