Abstract
An automatic graphics delivery system that operates in parallel with an existing Web site infrastructure is provided. The system streamlines the post-production process by automating the production of media through content generation procedures controlled by proprietary tags placed by an author within URLs embedded within Web documents.
Claims

A method implemented on a media delivery system in conjunction with a web site infrastructure that includes one or more of a server and a database, wherein the media delivery system includes a processor, a media repository and a media cache database, wherein the processor includes instructions to implement the method comprising:
receiving from an author
an original media for a website, and
a web document having a tag within a uniform resource locator (URL) associated with the original media;
storing the received original media in the media repository; processing the received tag to generate derivative media for the website from the derivative media, wherein the derivative media is optimized based on a parameter; storing the derivative media in the media cache database; and in response to receiving a request for the media,
retrieving the optimized derivative media from the media cache database, and
sending the optimized derivative media to a web server for delivery to a browser.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the parameter for the optimized derivative media includes any of a device type, a client connection, server traffic, and a content generation procedure.
3 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
receiving the parameter as an input.
4 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
receiving an update to the original media for the website; updating the derivative media based on the updated original media; and dynamically updating the website using the updated derivative media.
5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein at least a portion of the media delivery system is remote from the web site infrastructure.
6 . The method of claim 5 , wherein the remote portion includes one or more of the processor, the media repository, and the media cache database.
7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein at least a portion of the media delivery system is included within the web site infrastructure.
8 . The method of claim 7 , wherein the portion of the media delivery system that is included within the web site infrastructure includes one or more of the processor, the media repository, and the media cache database.
9 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the derivative media is an image.
10 . The method of claim 9 , wherein the media cache database contains a reference to the image.
11 . The method of claim 10 , wherein the reference includes any of a script used to create the image, a name of one or more source images used to create the image, a date associated with a file, or an HTML that represents the image.
12 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the retrieval the optimized derivative media from the media cache database reduces overhead associated with the received request.
13 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the stored optimized derivative media is available for retrieval from the media cache database in response to receiving a subsequent request.
14 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
receiving an update to the original media; automatically updating the derivative media based on the updated original media; and automatically propagating the updated derivative media to a user.
15 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the derivative media is modified for any of zooming, panning, slicing, formatting, a browser property, or a cache control directive.
16 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the media includes any of video asset, an image asset, or a sound asset.
17 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the media delivery system is accessible for managing any of assets and content.
18 . A media delivery system implemented in conjunction with a web site infrastructure that includes one or more of a server and a database, the media delivery system comprising:
a processor: a media repository; and a media cache database; wherein the processor includes instructions to implement a method comprising: receiving from an author
an original media for a website, and
a web document having a tag within a uniform resource locator (URL) associated with the original media;
storing the received original media in the media repository; processing the received tag to generate derivative media for the website from the derivative media, wherein the derivative media is optimized based on a parameter; storing the derivative media in the media cache database; and in response to receiving a request for the media, retrieving the optimized derivative media from the media cache database, and sending the optimized derivative media to a web server for delivery to a browser.
19 . The media delivery system of claim 18 , wherein the parameter for the optimized derivative media includes any of a device type, a client connection, server traffic, and a content generation procedure.
20 . The media delivery system of claim 18 , wherein the processor includes instructions for receiving the parameter as an input.
21 . The media delivery system of claim 18 , wherein the processor includes instructions for:
receiving an update to the original media for the website; updating the derivative media based on the updated original media; and dynamically updating the website using the updated derivative media.
22 . The media delivery system of claim 18 , wherein at least a portion of the media delivery system is remote from the web site infrastructure.
23 . The media delivery system of claim 22 , wherein the remote portion includes one or more of the processor, the media repository, and the media cache database.
24 . The media delivery system of claim 18 , wherein at least a portion of the media delivery system is included within the web site infrastructure.
25 . The media delivery system of claim 24 , wherein the portion of the media delivery system that is included within the web site infrastructure includes one or more of the processor, the media repository, and the media cache database.
26 . The media delivery system of claim 26 , wherein the derivative media is an image.
27 . The media delivery system of claim 26 , wherein the media cache database contains a reference to the image.
28 . The media delivery system of claim 27 , wherein the reference includes any of a script used to create the image, a name of one or more source images used to create the image, a date associated with a file, or an HTML that represents the image.
29 . The media delivery system of claim 18 , wherein the retrieval the optimized derivative media from the media cache database reduces overhead associated with the received request.
30 . The media delivery system of claim 18 , wherein the stored optimized derivative media is available for retrieval from the media cache database in response to receiving a subsequent request.
31 . The media delivery system of claim 18 , wherein the processor includes instructions for:
receiving an update to the original media; automatically updating the derivative media based on the updated original media; and automatically propagating the updated derivative media to a user.
32 . The media delivery system of claim 18 , wherein the processor includes instructions for modifying the derivative media for any of zooming, panning, slicing, formatting, browser properties, and cache control directives.
33 . The media delivery system of claim 18 , wherein the media includes any of a video asset, and image asset, or a sound asset.
34 . The media delivery system of claim 18 , wherein the media delivery system is accessible for management of any of assets and content.

A non-transitory computer-readable memory storing instructions for a media delivery system operating in conjunction with a web site infrastructure that includes one or more of a server and a database, wherein the media delivery system includes a processor, a media repository and a media cache database, wherein the instructions, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to perform a method comprising:
receiving from an author
an original media for a website, and
a web document having a tag within a uniform resource locator (URL) associated with the original media;
storing the received original media in the media repository; processing the received tag to generate derivative media for the website from the derivative media, wherein the derivative media is optimized based on a parameter; storing the derivative media in the media cache database; and in response to receiving a request for the media,
retrieving the optimized derivative media from the media cache database, and
