Abstract

A digital broadcasting system which is robust against an error when mobile service data is transmitted and a method of processing data are disclosed. The mobile service data is subjected to an additional coding process and the coded mobile service data is transmitted. Accordingly, it is possible to cope with a serious channel variation while applying robustness to the mobile service data.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A method for transmitting a broadcast signal, the method comprising:
scrambling first data; encoding the scrambled first data to add first parity data; permuting the added first parity data of the encoded first data; encoding second data to add second parity data; block interleaving the encoded second data; modulating a frame including the encoded first data with the permuted first parity data and the block interleaved second data; and transmitting the broadcast signal including the modulated frame, wherein the broadcast signal further includes category information of a service.

2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the added first parity data are not mixed with the encoded first data in the permuting.

3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the category information of the service indicates that a category of the service is one of audio/video service, audio service, or data service.

4 . A method for receiving a broadcast signal, the method comprising:
receiving the broadcast signal including a frame, wherein the frame includes first data added with first parity data and second data added with second parity data; demodulating the frame including the first data and the second data; de-permuting the added first parity data of the first data; decoding the first data with the de-permuted first parity data; de-scrambling the decoded first data; block de-interleaving the second data; and decoding the block de-interleaved second data, wherein the broadcast signal further includes category information of a service.

5 . The method of claim 4 , wherein the added first parity data are not mixed with the first data in the de-permuting step.

6 . The method of claim 4 , wherein the category information of the service indicates that a category of the service is one of audio/video service, audio service, or data service.

7 . An apparatus for transmitting a broadcast signal, the apparatus comprising:
a scrambler to scramble first data; an encoder to encode the scrambled first data to add first parity data, to permute the added first parity data of the encoded first data and to encode second data to add second parity data; a block interleaver to block interleave the encoded second data; a modulator to modulate a frame including the encoded first data with the permuted first parity data and the block interleaved second data; and a transmitter to transmit the broadcast signal including the modulated frame, wherein the broadcast signal further includes category information of a service.

8 . The apparatus of claim 7 , wherein the added first parity data are not mixed with the encoded first data when the encoder permutes the added first parity data of the encoded first data.

9 . The apparatus of claim 7 , wherein the category information of the service indicates that a category of the service is one of audio/video service, audio service, or data service.

10 . An apparatus for receiving a broadcast signal, the apparatus comprising:
a tuner to receive the broadcast signal including a frame, wherein the frame includes first data added with first parity data and second data added with second parity data; a demodulator to demodulate the frame including the first data and the second data; a block de-interleaver to block de-interleave the second data; a decoder to de-permute the added first parity data of the first data and to decode the first data with the de-permuted first parity data and the block de-interleaved second data; and a de-scrambler to de-scramble the decoded first data, wherein the broadcast signal further includes category information of a service.

11 . The apparatus of claim 10 , wherein the added first parity data are not mixed with the encoded first data when the decoder de-permutes the added first parity data of the encoded first data.

12 . The apparatus of claim 10 , wherein the category information of the service indicates that a category of the service is one of audio/video service, audio service, or data service.
