Abstract

A method and a system for international search result weighting. A migration trend of users in a first interaction set to a second interaction set in a time period may be evaluated. A weight may be assigned to members of a set of searchable listings corresponding to a country associated with the second interaction set based on the migration trend. In response to a search query that satisfies a subset of members of both the set of searchable listings and a second set of searchable listings corresponding to a second country associated with the first interaction set, return search results with the members ordered with respect to each other using the weight.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . (canceled)

         2 . A system comprising:
 a first data storage device of searchable listings comprising:
 a first set of listings corresponding to a first country; and
 a second set of listings corresponding to a second country;
   a second data storage device with a plurality of interactions comprising:
 a first interaction set corresponding to the first country; and
 a second interaction set corresponding to the second country, wherein an interaction comprises a time of the interaction and a user of the interaction;
   a computer system to:
 evaluate a migration trend of users in the first interaction set to the second interaction set in a time period; and
 assign a weight to members of the second set of listings based on the migration trend, the weight specific to the relation of the first set of listings and the second set of listings; and
   a search engine to:
 receive a search query that satisfies a subset of members of both the first set of listings and the second set of listings; and
 return search results with the subset of members of both the first set of listings and the second set of listings which are ordered with respect to each other using the weight.

         3 . The system of claim 2 , comprising a first site corresponding to the first country and a second site corresponding to the second country, and wherein users belong to one of the first site or the second site.

         4 . The system of claim 3 , wherein the migration trend of users is a use of the second site of listings for users who belong to the first site.

         5 . The system of claim 2 , wherein the weight comprises a direction and degree.

         6 . The system of claim 5 , wherein the direction and degree are represented by a discrete value combining the direction and degree.

         7 . The system of claim 6 , wherein the discrete value is one of strongly favorable, favorable, neutral, unfavorable, or strongly unfavorable.

         8 . A method comprising:
 evaluating, by a computer system, a migration trend of users in a first interaction set to a second interaction set in a time period, wherein a first data storage device comprises a first set of listings corresponding to a first country and a second set of listings corresponding to a second country, and wherein the first interaction set and the second interaction set are stored on a second data storage device, the first interaction set corresponding to the first country and the second interaction set corresponding to the second country; assigning, by the computer system, a weight to members of the second set of listings based on the migration trend, the weight specific to the relation of the first set of listings and the second set of listings; receiving, by a search engine, a search query that satisfies a subset of members of both the first set of listings and the second set of listings; and returning, by the search engine, search results with the subset of members of both the first set of listings and the second set of listings which are ordered with respect to each other using the weight.

         9 . The method of claim 8 , wherein a first site corresponds to the first country and a second site corresponds to the second country, and wherein users belong to one of the first site or the second site.

         10 . The method of claim 9 , wherein the migration trend of users is a use of the second site of listings for users who belong to the first site.

         11 . The method of claim 8 , wherein the weight comprises a direction and degree.

         12 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the direction and degree are represented by a discrete value combining the direction and degree.

         13 . The method of claim 12 , wherein the discrete value is one of strongly favorable, favorable, neutral, unfavorable, or strongly unfavorable.

         14 . A non-transitory machine readable medium comprises instructions that, when executed by a machine, cause the machine to perform operations comprising:
 evaluating, by a computer system, a migration trend of users in a first interaction set to a second interaction set in a time period, wherein a first data storage device comprises a first set of listings corresponding to a first country and a second set of listings corresponding to a second country, and wherein the first interaction set and the second interaction set are stored on a second data storage device, the first interaction set corresponding to the first country and the second interaction set corresponding to the second country; assigning, by the computer system, a weight to members of the second set of listings based on the migration trend, the weight specific to the relation of the first set of listings and the second set of listings; receiving, by a search engine, a search query that satisfies a subset of members of both the first set of listings and the second set of listings; and returning, by the search engine, search results with the subset of members of both the first set of listings and the second set of listings which are ordered with respect to each other using the weight.

         15 . The machine readable medium of claim 14 , wherein a first site corresponds to the first country and a second site corresponds to the second country, and wherein users belong to one of the first site or the second site.

         16 . The machine readable medium of claim 15 , wherein the migration trend of users is a use of the second site of listings for users who belong to the first site.

         17 . The machine readable medium of claim 14 , wherein the weight comprises a direction and degree.

         18 . The machine readable medium of claim 17 , wherein the direction and degree are represented by a discrete value combining the direction and degree.

         19 . The machine readable medium of claim 18 , wherein the discrete value is one of strongly favorable, favorable, neutral, unfavorable, or strongly unfavorable.
