Abstract

Conducting hands-free transactions comprises a server at a payment processing system, a user computing device, and a merchant computing device. The payment processing system receives a communication from a hands-free payment application on a user device, the communication comprising a first transaction token, an identification of a user account, and a beacon identifier. The merchant may provide a challenge to the user and use the response to identify the token and account of the user. The merchant computing device can use voice patterns of the user to assist in identifying the token and account of the user. The system receives from the merchant computing device a transaction request, the transaction request comprising the first transaction token and transaction data associated with the transaction request. The system determines that the transaction is for an amount less than a configured transaction limit and communicates a request for an authorization of the transaction.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

         1 . A computer-implemented method for hands-free transactions, comprising:
 transmitting, by a merchant computing system, a beacon via a wireless communication, the beacon comprising a beacon identifier; receiving, by the merchant computing system, a plurality of transaction tokens generated by a plurality of user computing devices associated with a plurality of user accounts, each user computing device having received the beacon from the merchant computing system; identifying, by the merchant computing system, a product for purchase from a particular user; receiving, by the v, an input of a verbal response provided by the particular user; creating, by the merchant computing system, a voice pattern from the verbal response by the particular user; identifying, by the merchant computing system, a particular user account associated with the particular user based on a comparison of the voice pattern of the particular user to a database of voice patterns; and in response to identifying the particular user account associated with the particular user, communicating, by the merchant computing system and to a payment processing system, a transaction request, the transaction request comprising transaction details and a particular transaction token associated with the particular user account.

         2 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the verbal response is in response to a challenge request provided by a merchant system operator associated with the merchant computing system.

         3 . The computer-implemented method of claim 2 , wherein the challenge request is displayed, by the merchant computing system, for communicating to the particular user.

         4 . The computer-implemented method of claim 2 , wherein the verbal response comprises initials of the user.

         5 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , further comprising presenting, by the merchant computing system to a merchant system operator, a display of the particular user account that is associated with the verbal response.

         6 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the verbal response comprises a configured phrase.

         7 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the verbal response is obtained from unprompted conversation of the particular user.

         8 . A computer program product, comprising:
 a non-transitory computer-readable storage device having computer-readable program instructions embodied thereon that when executed by a computer cause the computer to conduct hands-free transactions, the computer-readable program instructions comprising:
 computer-readable program instructions to receive a plurality of transaction tokens generated by a plurality of user computing devices that are each associated with one of a plurality of user accounts, each user computing device having generated its respective token in response to the user computing device having received a communication of a beacon from the computer;
 computer-readable program instructions to identify a product for purchase from a particular user;
 computer-readable program instructions to receive a verbal response provided by the particular user;
 computer-readable program instructions to create a voice pattern from the verbal response by the particular user;
 computer-readable program instructions to identify a particular user account associated with the particular user based on a comparison of the voice pattern of the particular user to a database of voice patterns associated with user accounts; and
 computer-readable program instructions to, in response to identifying the particular user account associated with the particular user, communicate to a payment processing system a transaction request, the transaction request comprising transaction details and a transaction token associated with the particular user account.

         9 . The computer program product of claim 8 , wherein the verbal response is in response to a challenge request provided by a merchant system operator associated with the computer.

         10 . The computer program product of claim 8 , further comprising computer-readable program instructions to present a display of the particular user account that is associated with the verbal response.

         11 . The computer program product of claim 9 , further comprising computer-readable program instructions to present the challenge request for communication to the particular user.

         12 . The computer program product of claim 9 , wherein the challenge request is provided to the merchant system operator for communicating to the particular user.

         13 . The computer program product of claim 8 , wherein the verbal response comprises initials of the user.

         14 . The computer program product of claim 8 , wherein the verbal response is obtained from unprompted conversation of the particular user.

         15 . A system for hands-free transactions, comprising:
 a storage device; and a processor communicatively coupled to the storage device, wherein the processor executes application code instructions that are stored in the storage device to cause the system to:
 receive a plurality of transaction tokens generated by a plurality of user computing devices associated with a plurality of user accounts in response to the user computing devices having received a beacon from the system;
 identify a product for purchase from a particular user;
 receive a verbal response provided by the particular user;
 create a voice pattern from the verbal response by the particular user;
 identify a particular user account associated with the particular user based on a comparison of the voice pattern of the particular user to a database of voice patterns; and
 communicate to a payment processing system a transaction request, the transaction request comprising transaction details and a particular transaction token associated with the particular user account.

         16 . The system of claim 15 , wherein the challenge response comprises the initials of the particular user.

         17 . The system of claim 15 , wherein the processor further executes application code instructions that are stored in the storage device to cause the system to present a display of a picture associated with each user associated with the one or more of the plurality of user accounts that are associated with the challenge response.

         18 . The system of claim 17 , wherein the identifying of the particular user is further based on a selection of the particular user account based on the presented picture of the particular user.
