Claims

Abstract

A removeable circular lid with a sealant coating on said inner surface, with vacuum release apparatus, has a lid, and a lid cap. The lid has one or more through holes. The lid cap has one or more protrusions, equal to the number of through holes, wherein the protrusions align with the through holes, and protrude through the holes. The lid cap is rotatable relative to the lid, and the through holes are larger than the protrusions, such that when the cap is rotated relative to the lid, rotation is allowed for the play of the protrusions in the through holes. The sealant coating is applied to the lid with the lid cap in a position such that the protrusions are seated at the furthest clockwise position of the through hole when looking from the top allowing for clearance for the sealant to cover the cut edges of the hole. The protrusions are sufficient such that when the cap is rotated counterclockwise relative to the lid, the movement of the protrusions in the through holes is sufficient to tear the sealant coating, thus breaking the vacuum seal.

I claim: 
     
         1 . Removeable circular lid with a sealant coating on said inner surface, with vacuum release apparatus comprising:
 Lid having one or more through holes;   Lid cap having one or more protrusions, equal to the number of through holes, wherein said protrusions align with said through holes, and protrude through said holes, wherein said lid cap is rotatable relative to said lid, and wherein said through holes are larger then said protrusions, such that when said cap is rotated relative to said lid, rotation is allowed for the play of the protrusions in the through holes,   Wherein said sealant coating is applied to the lid with said lid cap in a position such that the protrusions are seated at the furthest clockwise position of the through hole when looking from the top allowing for clearance for the sealant to cover the cut edges of the hole   Wherein said protrusions are sufficient such that when said cap is rotated counterclockwise relative to said lid, the movement of said protrusions in said through holes is sufficient to tear the sealant coating, thus breaking the vacuum seal.   
     
     
         2 . The lid of  claim 1  wherein said lid cap snaps onto the top of the lid, by having a bottom flange with a diameter slightly less than the lid diameter on the bottom side of the ring, and being made of a material with enough flexibility that the cap sides can expand to get the cap around the lid before the bottom flange snaps into place on the underside of the lid 
     
     
         3 . The lid of  claim 1  wherein said lid cap snaps onto the top of the lid, by having a bottom flange with a diameter slightly less than the lid diameter on the bottom side of the ring, wherein slits are cut on the side of the ring to give enough flexibility to enable the cap to snap on over the lid. 
     
     
         4 . The lid of  claim 1  wherein said lid cap is made of plastic. 
     
     
         5 . The lid of  claim 1  wherein said lid cap is in the form of a ring, sized slightly bigger than the lid diameter, and having sides which are slightly deeper than the depth of the lid, and further wherein said ring has a top flange which is sized such that said top flange covers said through holes. 
     
     
         6 . The removeable lid of  claim 1  wherein there are three thru-holes, and three protrusions. 
     
     
         7 . The removeable lid of  claim 1  wherein said protrusion is circular, and said thru-holes are curved parallel to the lid edge. 
     
     
         8 . The removeable lid of  claim 1  wherein said protrusion has a sharp edge, and said thru-holes are curved parallel to the lid edge. 
     
     
         9 . The removeable lid of  claim 1  wherein said protrusion is oblong, and said thru-holes are curved parallel to the lid edge.
