Abstract

Some embodiments herein are directed to a nutritional supplement composition including effective amounts of Coenzyme Q10, fish oil, vitamin D and a pharmaceutically acceptable excipient. Some embodiments describe a method of promoting nutritional health comprising administering a nutritional supplement composition including Coenzyme Q10, fish oil, vitamin D and a pharmaceutically acceptable excipient to a subject in need thereof. In some embodiments, the nutritional supplement composition may further include flax seed oil, borage oil, evening primrose oil, vitamin E, resveratrol, vitamin B6, vitamin B12, folic acid, piperine and combinations thereof. In some embodiments, administering the nutritional supplement to a subject may ameliorate nutrient depletion, or promote cardiovascular health, liver health, or both. In some embodiments, the nutritional supplement may be used to promote nutritional health in a subject taking a cholesterol lowering drug. In some embodiments, the nutritional supplement may be used to ameliorate nutrient depletion in a subject taking a cholesterol lowering drug. In some embodiments, the cholesterol lowering drug may be a statin.

1 . A method of promoting nutritional health, the method comprising administering to a subject in need thereof a composition comprising an effective amount of coenzyme Q10, folic acid, and vitamin B12. 
     
     
         2 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the coenzyme Q10 is in an amount of about 10 mg to about 1000 mg, the folic acid is in an amount of about 1 mcg to about 1000 mcg, and the vitamin B12 is in an amount of about 6 mcg to about 1000 mcg. 
     
     
         3 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the composition further comprises an agent selected from flax seed oil, borage oil, evening primrose oil, vitamin E, vitamin B6, vitamin D, resveratrol, piperine, or a combination thereof. 
     
     
         4 . The method of  claim 3 , wherein the evening primrose oil is in an amount of about 100 mg to about 5000 mg, the flaxseed oil is in an amount of about 250 mg to about 500 mg, the resveratrol is in an amount of about 1 mg to about 2000 mg, the vitamin B6 is in an amount of about 1 mg to about 1000 mg, the vitamin D is in an amount of about 500 IU to about 20000 IU, and the fish oil is in an amount of about 150 mg to about 4000 mg. 
     
     
         5 . The method of  claim 1  wherein administering the composition is in conjunction with a drug that causes nutrient depletion, a cholesterol lowering drug, a statin, a beta-blocker or a combination thereof. 
     
     
         6 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the composition further comprises an agent selected from gelatin, vitamin E, food coloring, glycerol, beeswax, purified water, soybean oil, or a combination thereof. 
     
     
         7 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the composition consists essentially of an effective amount of coenzyme Q10, fish oil, evening primrose oil, flaxseed oil, vitamin D, resveratrol, vitamin B6, vitamin B12, and folic acid. 
     
     
         8 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the composition consists of coenzyme Q10, fish oil, evening primrose oil, flaxseed oil, vitamin D, resveratrol, vitamin B6, vitamin B12, folic acid, gelatin, glycerin, beeswax, soybean oil, purified water, vitamin E, and food coloring. 
     
     
         9 . A method of improving a physiological condition selected from the group consisting of cardiovascular health, liver health, nutrient depletion, memory loss, mental confusion, and combinations thereof, the method comprising administering to a subject in need thereof a composition comprising an effective amount of coenzyme Q10, folic acid, and vitamin B12. 
     
     
         10 . The method of  claim 9 , wherein the coenzyme Q10 is in an amount of about 10 mg to about 1000 mg, the folic acid is in an amount of about 1 mcg to about 1000 mcg, and the vitamin B12 is in an amount of about 6 mcg to about 1000 mcg. 
     
     
         11 . The method of  claim 9 , wherein the composition further comprises an agent selected from flax seed oil, borage oil, evening primrose oil, vitamin E, vitamin B6, vitamin D, resveratrol, fish oil, piperine, or a combination thereof. 
     
     
         12 . The method of  claim 9 , wherein administering the composition is in conjunction with a drug that causes nutrient depletion, a cholesterol lowering drug, a statin, a beta-blocker or a combination thereof. 
     
     
         13 . The method of  claim 9 , wherein the composition consists essentially of an effective amount of coenzyme Q10, fish oil, evening primrose oil, flaxseed oil, vitamin D, resveratrol, vitamin B6, vitamin B12, and folic acid. 
     
     
         14 . The method of  claim 9 , wherein the composition consists of coenzyme Q10, fish oil, evening primrose oil, flaxseed oil, vitamin D, resveratrol, vitamin B6, vitamin B12, folic acid, gelatin, glycerin, beeswax, soybean oil, purified water, vitamin E, and food coloring. 
     
     
         15 . A method of reducing or preventing a side effect due to a cholesterol lowering drug to a subject in need thereof, the method comprising administering a composition comprising an effective amount of coenzyme Q10, folic acid, and vitamin B12. 
     
     
         16 . The method of  claim 15 , wherein the coenzyme Q10 is in an amount of about 10 mg to about 1000 mg, the folic acid is in an amount of about 1 mcg to about 1000 mcg, and the vitamin B12 is in an amount of about 6 mcg to about 1000 mcg. 
     
     
         17 . The method of  claim 15  wherein the side effects are selected from constipation, nausea, peripheral neuropathy, depression, diabetes, muscle pain, muscle cramping, joint pain, mental confusion, memory loss, liver damage, or a combination thereof. 
     
     
         18 . The method of  claim 15 , wherein the composition further comprises an effective amount of an agent selected from flax seed oil, borage oil, evening primrose oil, vitamin E, vitamin B6, vitamin D, resveratrol, fish oil, piperine, or a combination thereof. 
     
     
         19 . The method of  claim 15 , wherein the composition consists essentially of an effective amount of coenzyme Q10, fish oil, evening primrose oil, flaxseed oil, vitamin D, resveratrol, vitamin B6, vitamin B12, and folic acid. 
     
     
         20 . The method of  claim 15 , wherein the composition consists of coenzyme Q10, fish oil, evening primrose oil, flaxseed oil, vitamin D, resveratrol, vitamin B6, vitamin B12, folic acid, gelatin, glycerin, beeswax, soybean oil, purified water, vitamin E, and food coloring.
