Abstract
A partial dental prosthesis ( 1 ) having at least one surface ( 2 ) for forming a chewing surface of a posterior tooth ( 3 ), wherein the partial dental prosthesis ( 1 ) includes a composite material ( 4 ) and the composite material ( 4 ) contains at least one organic binding agent ( 5 ), preferably methacrylate, and, preferably inorganic solid particles ( 6 ) as filler, wherein at least the surface ( 2 ) for forming the chewing surface, preferably the entire outwardly facing surface, of the partial dental prosthesis ( 1 ), is formed at least in some regions, preferably completely, by a layer ( 7 ) that includes fused-together solids particles ( 6 ).

A partial dental prosthesis having at least one surface for forming a chewing surface of a posterior tooth, the partial dental prosthesis comprises a composite material and the composite material contains at least one organic binding agent and solid particles as filler, at least the surface for forming the chewing surface is formed at least in some regions by a layer that comprises fused-together solid particles.
2 . The partial dental prosthesis as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the layer is formed exclusively from fused-together solid particles.
3 . The partial dental prosthesis as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the layer is formed as a continuous enamel layer.
4 . The partial dental prosthesis as claimed claim 1 , wherein at least the surface for forming the chewing surface is laser-treated at least in some regions.
5 . The partial dental prosthesis as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the surface for forming the chewing surface comprises protuberances and fissures extending between the protuberances.
6 . The partial dental prosthesis as claimed in claim 1 , wherein a volume fraction of the solid particles relative to the composite material is at least 78%.
7 . The partial dental prosthesis as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the partial dental prosthesis has a shape of a hollow crown having side walls surrounding a hollow space of the hollow crown adapted to extend down to a patient's gums.
8 . The partial dental prosthesis as claimed in claim 1 , wherein at least the surface for forming the chewing surface has portions of at least one of zinc or fluorine in the solid particles.
9 . The partial dental prosthesis as claimed in claim 1 , the solid particles comprise glass.
10 . The partial dental prosthesis as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the at least one organic binding agent comprises methacrylate.
11 . The partial dental prosthesis as claimed in claim 1 , wherein an entire outwardly facing surface of the partial dental prosthesis is formed by the layer that comprises fused-together solid particles.
12 . The partial dental prosthesis as claimed in claim 4 , wherein an entire outwardly facing surface of the partial dental prosthesis is laser-treated.
13 . The partial dental prosthesis as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the partial dental prosthesis has a shape of a shell having side walls adapted to extend only partially down to a patient's gums.
14 . The partial dental prosthesis as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the solid particles comprise a mixture of different types of glass.
15 . The partial dental prosthesis as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the solid particles of the filler have particle sizes that differ from one another.
16 . The partial dental prosthesis as claimed in claim 15 , wherein the solid particles of the filler particle sizes of between 0.01 μm and 3 μm.
