Abstract

A device is disclosed to aid a swimmer in training. The device includes a piece of swim wear and at least one flow resistance increasing structure attached swim wear, the structure comprising a material block. The material block can be made of any of a number of materials including a sponge, open cell foam, and closed cell foam.

1 . A device to aid a swimmer in training, the device comprising:
 a piece of swim wear; and   at least one flow resistance increasing structure attached swim wear, the structure comprising a material block.   
     
     
         2 . The device of  claim 1 , wherein the material block comprises one of a polyester mesh, a cotton pad, and a sponge. 
     
     
         3 . The device of  claim 1 , wherein the material block comprises open cell foam. 
     
     
         4 . The device of  claim 1 , wherein the material block comprises a closed cell foam. 
     
     
         5 . The device of  claim 1 , wherein the material block is encapsulated within cloth attached to the swim wear. 
     
     
         6 . The device of  claim 1 , wherein the material block is exposed to an outside of the swim wear. 
     
     
         7 . The device of  claim 1 , wherein the increased resistance structure is removably attached to the swim wear. 
     
     
         8 . The device of  claim 7 , further comprising a plurality of resistance increasing structures, each removably attached to the swim wear. 
     
     
         9 . The device of  claim 1 , further comprising a plurality of resistance increasing structures attached around a perimeter of the swim wear. 
     
     
         10 . The device of  claim 9 , wherein the plurality of resistance increasing structures are oriented in a swim direction. 
     
     
         11 . The device of  claim 1 , wherein the material block comprises absorbent material configured to easily release absorbed water when depressed by the swimmer. 
     
     
         12 . The device of  claim 1 , wherein the material block includes a half circle cross-section. 
     
     
         13 . The device of  claim 1 , wherein the material block includes a circular cross-section. 
     
     
         14 . The device of  claim 1 , wherein the material block includes a triangular cross-section. 
     
     
         15 . The device of  claim 1 , wherein the resistance increasing structure is oriented perpendicular to a swim direction. 
     
     
         16 . The device of  claim 1 , wherein the piece of swim wear comprises a swimming shirt. 
     
     
         17 . The device of  claim 1 , wherein the piece of swim wear comprises a woman's swimsuit. 
     
     
         18 . The device of  claim 1 , further comprising a detachable parachute device removably attached to a back side of the swim wear. 
     
     
         19 . A device to aid a swimmer in training, the device comprising:
 a swimming shirt; and   a plurality of flow resistance increasing structures attached to the swimming shirt, each structure comprising:
 a material block constructed of one of sponge material, an open cell foam material, and a closed cell foam material; and 
 cloth encapsulating the material block and attaching the material block to the swimming shirt. 
   
     
     
         20 . The device of  claim 19 , wherein the plurality of flow resistance increasing structures are attached around a midsection of the swimming shirt.
