Customized caller id for mobile phone

Abstract

The present invention is generally directed toward a system for modifying caller identification (Caller ID) information by an outgoing caller on a mobile device. The system includes a storage means for storing Caller ID information prepared by a telecommunications provider, a telecommunications provider Caller ID module configured to transmit the Caller ID information to a receiving party, and a mobile device Caller ID module stored on the mobile device and configured to display the name associated with the Caller ID information on the mobile device. The mobile device Caller ID module is configured to customize the name by the outgoing caller and transmit the customized name to the telecommunications provider Caller ID module. The customized name is then transmitted in place of the telephone account name to the receiving party as part of the Caller ID information.

         7 . A customizable Caller ID module, stored on a mobile device, said module configured to display name associated with Caller ID information on the mobile device,
 said customizable Caller ID module being associated with storage for storing Caller ID information, said Caller ID information relating to the name and telephone number associated with a telephone account;   said customizable Caller ID module configured to allow customization of name of outgoing caller and further configured to transmit either the Caller ID information or the customized name to a receiving party, via a communication network.   
     
     
         8 . The customizable Caller ID module according to  claim 7 , wherein the mobile device is a telephone, a separately attached device, or personal computer. 
     
     
         9 . The customizable Caller ID module according to  claim 7 , wherein the Caller ID information or the customized name transmitted to the receiving party is a text message. 
     
     
         10 . The customizable Caller ID module according to  claim 7 , wherein the Caller ID information or the customized name transmitted to the receiving party is indicative of an incoming call. 
     
     
         11 . The customizable Caller ID module according to  claim 7 , wherein the communication network is a public switched telephone network. 
     
     
         12 . The customizable Caller ID module according to  claim 7 , wherein the communication network is an IP network. 
     
     
         13 . A customized Caller ID system for an outgoing caller on a mobile device, said system comprising:
 storage containing Caller ID information relating to the name and telephone number associated with a telephone account; and   a mobile device Caller ID module stored on the mobile device and configured to display the name associated with the Caller ID information on the mobile device,   wherein said system is capable of modifying said name associated with the Caller ID information, and said module is configured to transmit either the Caller ID information or the modified name to a receiving party via a communication network.   
     
     
         14 . The customized Caller ID system according to  claim 13 , wherein the mobile device is a telephone, a separately attached device, or a personal computer. 
     
     
         15 . The customized Caller ID system according to  claim 13 , wherein the Caller ID information or the customized name transmitted to the receiving party is a text message. 
     
     
         16 . The customized Caller ID system according to  claim 13 , wherein the Caller ID information or the customized name transmitted to the receiving party is indicative of an incoming call. 
     
     
         17 . The customized Caller ID system according to  claim 13 , wherein said communication network is a public switched telephone network.
