Abstract

A computer determines a cursor location within source code displayed on a display screen. The computer determines a keyword based at least on the cursor location. The cursor location may include: line number, column number, designated non-word location, and/or reserved word. The computer takes an action based on the keyword including, but not limited to the following actions: jumping to the first occurrence of the keyword search term, extracting a COBOL copybook data set, and/or sending an EXPLAIN query to a database manager.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A method for navigating programming source code from within a source code editor, the method comprising:
 a computer determining text cursor location information of a source code document displayed on a display screen, the text cursor location information including pre-determined portion of source code within program text of the source code document;   the computer determining a jump-to-location action based, at least in part, on the pre-determined portion of source code; and   the computer taking the jump-to-location action indicated by the pre-determined portion of source code;   wherein:   the text cursor location information is based on a text cursor location being within or adjacent the pre-determined portion of source code.   
     
     
         2 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the pre-determined portion of source code is a designated non-word location within the source code document. 
     
     
         3 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the pre-determined portion of source code is at least one of a line number and a column number. 
     
     
         4 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein determining the jump-to-location action comprises:
 identifying, in a keyword table, a keyword search term corresponding to the designated non-word location.   
     
     
         5 . The method of  claim 4 , wherein the designated non-word location is a command line within the program text. 
     
     
         6 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the text cursor location information further includes a division of the program text where the text cursor is located. 
     
     
         7 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the designated non-word location is based on a programming language. 
     
     
         8 . The method of  claim 1 , further comprising:
 recording in a data structure a set of text cursor location entries associated with each jump-to-location action taken, each text cursor location entry of the set of text cursor location entries at least linked in a linked list according to a reverse chronological order of the jump-to-location actions taken;   identifying a text cursor location associated with a previous jump-to-location action taken by reverse navigating the linked list to a previous text cursor location entry; and   moving the text cursor to the text cursor location associated with the previous text cursor location entry.   
     
     
         9 . The computer program product for navigating programming source code from within a source code editor, the computer program product comprising a computer readable storage medium having stored thereon:
 program instructions to determine text cursor location information of a source code document displayed on a display screen, the text cursor location information including pre-determined portion of source code within program text of the source code document;   program instructions to determine a jump-to-location action based, at least in part, on the pre-determined portion of source code; and   program instructions to take the jump-to-location action indicated by the pre-determined portion of source code;   wherein:   the text cursor location information is based on a text cursor location being within or adjacent the pre-determined portion of source code.   
     
     
         10 . The computer program product of  claim 9 , wherein the pre-determined portion of source code is a designated non-word location within the source code document. 
     
     
         11 . The computer program product of  claim 9 , wherein the program instructions to determine a jump-to-location action include:
 program instructions to identify, in a keyword table, a keyword search term corresponding to the designated non-word location.   
     
     
         12 . The computer program product of  claim 9 , wherein the text cursor location information further includes a division of the program text where the text cursor is located. 
     
     
         13 . The computer program product of  claim 9 , further comprising:
 program instructions to record in a data structure a set of text cursor location entries associated with each jump-to-location action taken, each text cursor location entry of the set of text cursor location entries at least linked in a linked list according to a reverse chronological order of the jump-to-location actions taken;   program instructions to identify a text cursor location associated with a previous jump-to-location action taken by reverse navigating the linked list to a previous text cursor location entry; and   program instructions to move the text cursor to the text cursor location associated with the previous text cursor location entry.   
     
     
         14 . A computer system for navigating programming source code from within a source code editor, the computer system comprising:
 one or more computer processors;   one or more computer-readable storage media;   program instructions stored on the computer-readable storage media for execution by at least one of the one or more processors, the program instructions comprising:
 program instructions to determine text cursor location information of a source code document displayed on a display screen, the text cursor location information including pre-determined portion of source code within program text of the source code document; 
 program instructions to determine a jump-to-location action based, at least in part, on the pre-determined portion of source code; and 
 program instructions to take the jump-to-location action indicated by the pre-determined portion of source code; 
 wherein: 
 the text cursor location information is based on a text cursor location being within or adjacent the pre-determined portion of source code. 
   
     
     
         15 . The computer system of  claim 14 , wherein the pre-determined portion of source code is a designated non-word location within the source code document. 
     
     
         16 . The computer system of  claim 14 , wherein the program instructions to determine a jump-to-location action include:
 program instructions to identify, in a keyword table, a keyword search term corresponding to the designated non-word location.   
     
     
         17 . The computer system of  claim 14 , wherein the text cursor location information further includes a division of the program text where the text cursor is located. 
     
     
         18 . The computer system of  claim 14 , further comprising:
 program instructions to record in a data structure a set of text cursor location entries associated with each jump-to-location action taken, each text cursor location entry of the set of text cursor location entries at least linked in a linked list according to a reverse chronological order of the jump-to-location actions taken;   program instructions to identify a text cursor location associated with a previous jump-to-location action taken by reverse navigating the linked list to a previous text cursor location entry; and   program instructions to move the text cursor to the text cursor location associated with the previous text cursor location entry.
