Claims

Abstract

Provided is a display device that even in the case where microlenses are formed to increase the light extraction efficiency, can decrease damage on an OLED caused by the production of the microlenses. The display device includes a first substrate; light emitting elements provided on the first substrate and located in correspondence with pixels arrayed in a matrix; a second substrate; a light collection layer provided on the second substrate and including, on the side facing the light emitting elements, at least one convex lens in correspondence with each of the pixels; and a light-transmissive layer that is provided between the first substrate and the second substrate so as to be in contact with the lens and has a refractive index lower than that of the light collection layer.

         7 . A display device, comprising:
 a first substrate;   light emitting elements provided on the first substrate and located in correspondence with pixels arrayed in a matrix;   a second substrate;   a light collection layer provided on the second substrate and including, on the side facing the light emitting elements, at least one concave lens in correspondence with each of the pixels; and   a light-transmissive layer that is provided between the first substrate and the second substrate so as to be in contact with the lens and has a refractive index higher than that of the light collection layer.   
     
     
         8 . The display device according to  claim 7 , wherein the lens of the light collection layer is formed of a color resist. 
     
     
         9 . The display device according to  claim 8 , further comprising an assisting layer having a light transmittance higher than that of the color resist, the assisting layer being provided on the color resist on the side opposite from the light emitting elements, in an area corresponding to a projecting portion of a surface of the color resist. 
     
     
         10 . The display device according to  claim 7 , further comprising a color resist provided between the light collection layer and the second substrate;
 wherein the lens of the light collection layer is formed of a material having a light transmittance higher than that of the color resist.   
     
     
         11 . The display device according to  claim 7 , wherein the light collection layer includes an area where a plurality of the lenses are located in a houndstooth check pattern. 
     
     
         12 . The display device according to  claim 7 , wherein the light-transmissive layer includes a filler filling a space between the first substrate and the second substrate. 
     
     
         13 . The display device according to  claim 7 , wherein the one concave lens is a cylindrical lens. 
     
     
         14 . The display device according to  claim 7 , wherein the one concave lens has a concave extending along a direction, the pixels being arrayed in the direction. 
     
     
         15 . The display device according to  claim 7 , wherein the light collection layer includes a plurality of concave lenses formed in one pixel of the pixels,
 a plurality of assisting layers are formed in the one pixel, the assisting layers having a light transmittance higher than that of the light collection layer   each of the assisting layers is overlapped with each of the concave lenses in a planar view.   
     
     
         16 . A display device, comprising:
 a first substrate;   a second substrate facing the first substrate;   a light emitting element formed on the first substrate;   a first layer having at least one concave shape facing the light emitting element;   a second layer located between the first layer and the light emitting element, and being in contact with the concave shape.   
     
     
         17 . The display device according to  claim 16 , wherein a refractive index of the second layer is higher than a refractive index of the first layer. 
     
     
         18 . The display device according to  claim 16 , wherein the concave shape has a surface facing the light emitting element,
 a middle portion of the surface is dent in a direction away from the light emitting element.   
     
     
         19 . The display device according to  claim 16 , wherein the first layer is formed on the second substrate. 
     
     
         20 . The display device according to  claim 16 , wherein the first layer is a color filter. 
     
     
         21 . The display device according to  claim 16 , wherein a color filter is formed between the second substrate and the first layer. 
     
     
         22 . The display device according to  claim 16  wherein the concave shape is a concave lens which collects a light from the light emitting element. 
     
     
         23 . The display device according to  claim 16  wherein further comprising a plurality of pixels,
 the concave shape has a concave extending along a direction, the pixels being arrayed in the direction. 
 
     
     
         24 . The display device according to  claim 16  wherein further comprising a plurality of pixels,
 the first layer includes a plurality of concave shapes, and 
 the plurality of concave shapes are formed in one pixel of the pixels.
